I've been getting requests for months now to demonstrate how I curl/wave my short hair in a slightly retro-ish 80's style, and I am no pro by any means, so I don't claim to know the best way or the "right" way.

This is just what is easy for me so I'm sharing a quick #hairstyling tutorial in case it's useful for some of you!

I use an old #CoriolissPro multi-purpose #hairiron (can be used for straightening and curling), but any curling iron works and might actually be easier to use.

NOTE: If I start with damp hair I'll also apply a heat protectant spray before ironing, but my hair was dry today so I skipped that step.

Hi guys so I've got the bed head. I got several requests over the past few months to do a very quick tutorial showing how I wave my hair and the process hasn't changed for the past few years. It'S just how to give my hair a bit more volume, some tousled ways, some texture without it looking too overdone or making a little combed and the tool that I typically use is one of these dual purpose: sort of ions that can straighten and also wave hair. If you twist it along the brand that I got is Coriolis, this is literally over ten years old, so I am surprised it's still working, but I'm sure there are better products new products out these days and the only thing you need to look out for with This type of multi-purpose ions is that they go above 200 degrees Celsius. It has to heat up to above 200 degrees for your hair to be able to hold the curl the closer your hair, the most stubborn, your hair is the higher the heat has to go. Unfortunately, also remember that any form of heat styling any time that you force your hair to go in a direction that it doesn't naturally go will do some damage to it. So just make sure that you know the next time you wash your hair put in the treatment, leave it on for a few minutes, and you know as often as possible, give your hair some TLC. So the conditions not too bad, it's gon na be a little bit challenging for me to look in the viewfinder and try and saw my hair, because I can't see much so I'll. Try to prop up a little hand mirror on the side here and see. If I can just do my hair looking down, because I need a slightly bigger surface to be able to see what I'm doing now, I typically separate my hair in to two main sections for the first part, so the bottom half I will probe first because this Is the section that you don't mind getting a little bit looser a little bit straighter, but you want the top layers to hold a bit in and the curl it's just gon na tie it way you can obviously do this with a barrel-shaped, curling iron. I think that actually makes the job easier. This is just what I have so it's what I use and I like to hold and co outlets away from my face so on this half of my head, I always go forward and out and then on this side. I go forward and out the other way, because you want the curls to go out. I don't like the inward coal. Sometimes it looks a little strange: I'm not trying to do tight curls, but you can because, after a while you comb it out anyway, you don't actually want all your hair to be an even cross. That would look a little bit too artificial to be done. So it's meant to look a little bit casual or you want to look out for our bits that are obviously too straight much straighter than our surrounding hair, and you can just be these smaller. These sections of hair, you curl, the tighter the curls, are going to be so if you want loose waves where bigger chunks notice, I'm also not holding the iron there for a long time, because you getting really really tight winglets. When you do that - and I just wan na wave - I just don't want any straight lips. Basically, so I'm not trying to get any language if they get too cold, I'm actually gon na have to go comb them out later. So, that's not what I'm trying to do a little bit of hair spray, the bottom layers in place. First, you don't want them to go all straight while you're doing me other sections in here now I separate the top half into half as well. I look so crazy. Now, typically for the top layers of my hair, I will do slightly tighter curls, because you want this section to have a little bit more but noticeable wave and you don't want them to be sort of go flat and straight too early. So don't Brett locks of hair that are too large, because then you won't get a good cook. This site is done. You'Ve got to finish off the top waves on the left for the top sections. I also pull up what's more up and out, because you want a little bit more lift in volume. You don't want it to go straight out and down, because that the crown looks a little bit flat if you do that with the fringe. If you have any longer bits, you might kind of follow the curve as well, but you don't want it curly finish this. Just really are looking so just be careful too: it just could be ends and then wave it a little bit. So it's sort of just falsely curl your hair, so I just flip it and wave it lightly, but do not hold it in the iron. For too long after this, it's just a quick check to make sure there are no straight sections of your hair that sort of stick out. I have a little bit at the bottom, that's gone straight, so I can just very lightly. We call these bits. It would help to have a front mirror and then a hand mirror that you can use to check the back of your hit as well to save time for this demo, I'm not going to do that, but usually I would the last thing I usually do. Is I will loosen up the curls a little bit and I like using a tangle teezer because it doesn't catch in my hair? Do remember that your curls and Whittle loosen up slightly the next few hours, so don't over brush and then end up with that straight hair in three hours time very likely running through top layers, not the bottom, because the bottom doesn't need to loosen that much and Then I just get waves blues waves, some of the locks because we'll sort of combine with each other to make bigger, looser waves, and that's what you want the other bit that I will also convert a little bit is the front bottom bits, because that gives you That Bob shape, where it's longer in front, if you don't come out this section, you just get this round look, so you do still want these sections to be lower and hang out a little bit more. So you get that ball shape so with the fringe. What you want to do usually is to pinch different sections, where your parting is, because you want them to come down and have your face not go up and backwards, then lock it in with a little more hairspray. You do want to focus a little bit more product on the bottom, because these are where the layers will straighten out their fastest, and then I scrunch a little bit what I also my heaven a little bit and we are done. This is how I usually wave my short Bob. It'S also a great way for me to show off a gradient colors in my hair, because I have but the emerald green at the bottom right now and a soft olive brown on top. So when you call it a gradient and the variation in color becomes more obvious, I mean this is just a relatively straightforward and easy way for me to do it, so it did take me a while to learn how to do it. But overall, I feel, if you were short, bob is just one of the easiest ways to style your hair differently. If you are professional - and you know more tips and tricks that can make my life a bit easier or you know make them do a little bit nicer share with me down below, I'm always happy to learn new tips and tricks.
