How to cut layered hair with ponytails? We are trying this on shoulder length here and Claudia has a straight line cut at the moment. The first thing that you want to do is make your hair wet first comb it so that it's really smooth and then you're going to part your hair down the middle and divide your hair into two sections. Once that's done, you're going to divide that section into two separate ones: use your ear for reference and then you're going to comb your hair up and tie it with a small elastic. That'S your first Pony and you want to repeat the same thing on the other side as well: just comb, your hair to the back and tie it in the high ponytail. At this point, your hair should look something like this next up, you want to take those other two sections at the bottom and tie them in high ponytails as well. Now you want to comb your section really well and slide your fingers up as you go next up. You want to bring this section to the front and using your fingers as a guide, you can do your first cut you're going to do the same on the other side, just check that both of them are the same length before you cut your second section, so Bring it to the front, use your fingers as a guide and cut that section off. Remember that you always have to use one of the sections as a guide so that both of them look the same way and then you're going to bring your section to the front and using your fingers as a guide you're going to snip the ends off. Now that you've cut both sections you're going to release your hair from the elastics to check the final result now don't be afraid of cutting too much because remember, you're cutting only the top layer and the bottom layer is going to stay the same length when you're Finished another thing you could do to soften those harsh lines is to snip off the ends of this way. At this point, your haircut is complete, so you can blow-dry your hair style it. However, you want and that's it you're done if you feel like you need to do any touch-ups. This is a great technique. Just take your scissors and slice them down section by section and that's it. This is the final result. I really hope you enjoyed today's video. Benia Zouras: Yes, great timing! This is just what I need! I cut and donated my hair last Spring and could use a trim now. I layered it slightly (thanks to another of your helpful videos) and wasn't sure how to do an easy trim to match the same layering pattern. I guess we are hair twins now. Thank you so much for these great videos!

Earth Inspired: Just cut 6 inches off my hair with your video and when I pulled the hair ties out I was SHOCKED! It is exactly what I wanted and better than most haircuts I pay for! Thanks so much! Seeing you do it in real time made it so much easier to trust!

Kristina Hansen: I did this and it worked really well. I have a long bob and I followed this tutorial step by step and I am so pleased with the result. Thanks !

Kelly Palicki: Did this today. It worked quite well. My hair is quite long, super thick and has some wave. I didn't try it with clean hair, I did it with "next day" hair so it was much easier to control getting it into the ponytails. I cut about one inch off, but didn't blunt cut it, I did it all with point cutting that way there's better blending, in my opinion. I would imagine after you've done this a few times it gets easier and more precise, but for my first attempt it went quite well. Good video!

Francesca Ramone: i followed this tutorial and got the cut i wanted. thanks! :3

Linda Mitchell: Easy and straight forward. I would like to see one on chin length hair please :D

Nic Evans: Did this today on my very curly hair turned out a great shape, I took at least 3 inches off making sure I had a good length for my hair to ringlet, you can't cut curly hair layers too short

Pao Bonilla: Where did you get those beautiful shears? Thank you!

Jasmine: Biancha garibaldi... sorry deleted your question. This hack does really work!!! If you try it on yourself, take your time and divide your hair evenly and make sure the cuts are even as well. But yes this really helped me and I loved the way my hair turned out. Personally I like shorter layers cuz my hair is so long. And it gave me amazing volume hope this helped!
