So what I've done is, I've created a really cute, little up-do shape here in the back, and then I'm going to let this hair fall down, and we'll keep pinning.
So, I'm going to pin, going to twist the hair, hold it into place, and then pin it going up.
So I'm just creating little shapes inside the hair. You're almost reiterating the curl that you already set in with the curling iron.
So just pinning randomly. There's no wrong or right way to do this. Everybody's hair is a little bit different. I'm just creating the look of an up-do back here. And I always say, when in doubt, throw in another bobby pin. Nobody can see. There's no perfect amount of bobby pins to use. You just need to be sure that you use enough.
Now I'm going to let this side down, and then I'm going to take a look at it and see what I want to do. I want to keep adding to this shape, so I'm going to take, from as far back as I can and pin, and I'll keep working my way towards the face.
When I get towards the face I'm going to decide how much of the hair I want to leave out. Start here. Do one little twist. Pin. I'm not opening these bobby pins up as I pin. The reason I don't is, a bobby pin's only made to hold a certain amount of hair, so when you open up your bobby pin, you're actually putting too much hair into the pin.
So now I'm getting close to the front. So I want to see, keep checking and see how much hair I want to leave out around the face. You can always add or take away more hair.
I'm just giving each of these little sections a little half spin. I'm going to get this right here.
And then I'll move to the other side. Do the same exact same thing on the other side, so I'm still going to start in the back space, and just start moving the hair back and pinning it. A little half turn there.
The great thing about doing something like this is it gives the illusion that you have much longer hair. When the hair is all put up like this, you can't tell how long it is. Getting toward the front, so I'm deciding how much hair I want to leave out and how much I want to put back.
Just check out each side and make sure that you have a even amount of hair on each side, and that the fullness on one side matches the fullness on the other.
And that's how you create an up-do using bobby pins.
