Andie hair tutorials who is she?!! This is one of the things I always see comments and get DMs about so I figured I'd do a little chit chat hair video! Tbh this is maybe the worst I've ever done these braids but we're gonna blame it on the new short layers and no mirror lmao. But still we love a big faux braid moment! I'd love to do some more of these and dive into my bigger crazier braids! Also hiiii yellow orange split tone!

My name is andy if you've never been here before this channel is called. It'S me andy. Usually i do diy type stuff, but i've been kind of venturing into some other stuff lately and i often wear my hair in braids um and i've noticed in the past few videos that i've braided my hair or if i post something on instagram. I get a lot of comments and dms asking how i did them, so i figured this would be a fun way to just like sit down and talk to you guys, i feel like man. We all just need a good talk right now, yeah. So that's the plan for today. If you don't follow me on instagram, you haven't seen this hair color yet so surprise, it's funny, because orange and yellow are kind of the only two colors i've never had in my life. I'Ve had pretty much everything else so braids. I do a lot of different variations of braids. Sometimes i do two. Sometimes i do three. Sometimes i do four. Sometimes i add extra braiding hair in sometimes i don't sometimes i crimp it. Sometimes i use products. Sometimes i don't so. I think i'm just gon na start with, like the most basic way to do it with the most minimal amount, the least amount of products or supplies that you would need, and i'm not gon na do any products today, except maybe like hairspray at the end, i'm Just gon na use a comb with a nice pointy end for parting. It'S not totally necessary. You can part with like a normal comb as well, but this is what i like and then a bunch of elastics. These are like the little thin clear elastic ones. These um, i also have the black elastic ones, and i think i kind of prefer those but i'm running out of those, and this is what i have so any yeah, any type of like little elastic rubber, bandy things god. This is so not what i normally do. I feel weird doing a hair tutorial, but it's gon na be fine. It'S gon na be great. So here we go so i'm gon na take my hair out. My hair is super dirty um, and that was kind of intentional, because this is a hairstyle. I normally do when my hair is dirty and i don't feel like washing it. It'S a really good way to hide dirty hair, also with colored hair. I don't really want to wash it that often, so this is what we got. Give it a little brush. First thing: we're going to do is part down the middle because i'm doing two braids, but you just want to do your parting first. So if you're doing three four, whatever just part it accordingly um, but obviously with this hair, it makes the most sense to do half and half. I actually want to show you guys my mirror situation. Okay, hello, so i'm filming here and the mirror is back there. So i have to just like kind of poke my head through and see so anyway, i'm gon na do my best. This might not be the cleanest part. I'Ve ever done in my life, but that is okay, okay, so actually i'm gon na start with the right side. So, whichever side, i'm not gon na start with i'm just going to get out of the way as best as i can wow. That was kind of a good part, all right. So this side we are getting up and out of the way and then i'll do a little bobby pin for my bangs, okay. So also the main reason that i started doing this hairstyle is because, like four years ago i shaved all my hair off and then when it was growing out. I really wanted to do something more interesting than just like have a bowl cut. So when it was super short, i was trying to find ways to like get these short pieces to be in braids. So this is good if you have short hair or if you have bangs, and you want to get them back. So here is where all the work comes in um. What we're gon na do is start with these little elastics and we're just gon na start, making little sections and putting those little sections in elastics and we're basically establishing where the braid is gon na, be. If you don't have bangs, you can make much bigger sections. I actually like how this hairstyle looks with bigger sections, but because my hair is so short at the front, i have to start like a little bit closer together. One thing that i have learned the hard way from doing this hairstyle a lot is these elastics do not need to be as tight as you think they do. I feel like when i first started doing this hairstyle a lot. I was making them so so tight and i didn't even like really think i was making them that tight, but then i would go to take them out and it would just pull so much of my hair out you really, especially when you get bigger sections of Hair, you really, you really only need to wrap it around like a couple times and you'll. Be fine it'll stay better than you think it will, because they're like rubbery, normally i'd use like an aller. What normally i'd use an alligator clip to just like clip these out of the way, but it's upstairs, and i just don't feel like going up there. So how are you guys doing? Life is something else. 2020 is something else. I'Ve been like kind of having some health problems and it's hard because you can't - or at least i can't in la really go into the doctor right now. Everything is over the phone um. If you're watching this in the future, we are now uh. Basically, in the period of covid, where we're just kind of discovering that it is blood related and not so much respiratory related um, i mean obviously it's respiratory related, but it's um, really a sickness that affects your blood and therefore affects any organ in your body that Your blood goes through, so people that are having strokes. It could be caused by covid. People are having organ failure caused by kovid, and so at the beginning of this whole thing, you could still go to the doctor unless you had like a cough or a fever. Um but now it's kind of like any symptom at all. They don't want you going in and i actually had a covid test and it came back negative um. But apparently the testing is not really all that reliable, or at least we don't know yet how reliable it is, and so still my doctor was like you can only do a phone call um, which is kind of i don't know alarming. It'S crazy to not be able to like go to the doctor right now, um, my you know, non-medical opinion. I think i have, i think, all of the issues i'm having are stemming from gut health issues or it is possible that i could have covid and it's just you know. We don't know enough yet, but anyway, so i just feel really like defeated right now and i'm trying my best to like keep my body healthy and all the ways that i can control. Oh, and i also know this is a good time to bring up. I get comments and i know the people that are making these comments mean well, but i get comments all the time about my neck. Looking swollen my thyroid's looking swollen - and this is actually something i've got in my entire life, even back in middle school, i got called to the office one day, because somebody's dad, who was a doctor, saw me in the hallway and was like that girl's. Thyroids are crazy, um and i got them checked then, and then yeah a lot of people now still comment that my neck looks swollen and yeah. Just to that i say thank you for your concern, but i do i get blood tests every year and nothing has ever come up related to thyroid issues, so i don't think that's what's going on. I think maybe i just have a big neck, which is fine. I'M gon na try it really hard not to be self-conscious about um, but you know so anyway, which is another reason, i'm kind of led to believe that whatever is happening right now is gut related because i think from my understanding, a lot of if you're, having Seemingly thyroid related symptoms, but you get your blood tests and they're normal. It could likely be inflammation related to like gut health stuff. So i don't know i'm still kind of like trying to learn and figure it out. But if any of you know more than i do about that feel free to chime in that was something that i've been meaning to like say, but it's kind of i wasn't gon na make a whole video about my neck, but yeah and i'm not like you Know again, i know that the people who say that are just trying to be helpful and they're concerned, but sometimes it's like, i know my neck's big. I get it um. I think, because i've been talking, i haven't really been paying attention to these sections. I think normally i would maybe do sections that are a little bit bigger than this. You can also see at this point why this works really well on dirty hair, because it's all like the sections are all slicked uh back nicely and i'm not really having any. Like flyaway issues, you can see i'm getting towards the back. I'Ll, probably do one, maybe three more three more sections, all right done with that. So what you should end up with is this um. I'M gon na do the same thing on this side and then i'll be right back okay. So this is what we have um. I hope you can see. We just have all these ponytails going up both sides i'll do a little spin. Yes, yes, we're following pretty much all of the braids that i do start with this. The only time i would do something different is, if i want them like extra big and poofy, sometimes i'll crimp, my hair, before this step, but anyway, so now. Oh, i kind of forgot one of my things. Oh i just like just sprinted up the stairs. It is so so hot in l.a right now. I also feel like this. Hairstyle is good for me because i don't know if any of you guys feel this. I hate having hair like i just really want to have a shaved head all the time, but when i shaved my head, i also kind of hated it. So i always have this dilemma of like i just want my hair totally back. I want it totally out of the way i don't want like pieces in my face. I don't want to feel that i have hair, so this is a really good way to just like slick it all completely up. I don't have to touch it. It'Ll stay forever and ever okay, so we're starting um. What you're gon na do is take your first little ponytail, you're gon na split it in half and connect it to the third ponytail. Do we see so? The second ponytail is just hanging out right here and we're gon na take yet another elastic and attach the first to the third. I hope you can see what i am doing. Okay, yes and now we're gon na. Take the next ponytail we're gon na split it in half and we're going to skip one so you're putting the halves the two halves around whichever ponytail is next yes, we're following and then we're going to attach this to the next one. So now we're going to take this front piece. We are going to split it in half, okay and see. This is when the short hairs get pretty annoying, so sometimes i'll, try to like twist it or something so that the short hairs stay like more back, but we're gon na split in half put it around the ponytail behind it and combine it with the next one. So that is basically what we're doing the whole way, but once i get a few i'll start, taking these first ones and pulling and instead of pulling like the whole entire chunk in one piece, i'm kind of trying to pull like like i'll pull the whole thing. A little and then i'll pull like three-fourths of it and then i'll pull a half and then i'll pull so i'm trying to like spread what is not a lot of hair, i'm trying to like spread it out. If that makes sense. So i'll show you on this one so, instead of just like taking this whole chunk and pulling it all at once, i'm going to pull it a little i'm going to let go a little i'm going to like pull a tiny bit and then move my fingers. Pull a tiny bit move, my fingers hold a tiny bit. I hope that that is making sense, because if i just pull this whole thing out at once, i'm just gon na have like one weird loop, so you're trying to like spread it, and this will get easier like the farther back. You get on your head and you actually have more hair to work with. It'S definitely takes a little bit more finesse right at the beginning, because you're trying to make it look like a very small amount of hair is bigger than it is okay. So i'm going to keep doing that all the way back. Okay, so i have now gotten to the nape of my neck on both sides. I think there are sometimes actually sometimes i'll, just put it in like a ponytail or i'll do a little messy bun at the bottom. But for the sake of this, i'm going to continue this same kind of pattern, and you could probably like separate this into three and braid it and like pull that out. But i want to keep it looking consistent with the rest of my braid. We'Re basically going to continue the same thing, just without obviously more ponytails to attach it to so i'm going to take this top ponytail, i'm going to gosh. I have like way more layers than i normally do. So i'm sure you can see all these pieces, but we can fix that later. So i'm gon na take this top ponytail. I'M gon na split it in half, i'm gon na pull it below the other one. So i've just made like a wrap and i'm gon na put an elastic right here and then you can do a little pulling on that if you like, and then i'm going to take the next piece in half, that's not very good. Try again split it in half wrap it around. Does that? Are you guys seeing that how the two halves are going around and then i'll just tie them both together, probably could have even done one more, but that is okay for right now, all right cool, so it hopefully should still look like the same. Braid continues. All the way back, what time is it? I am a little bit short on time today, so i'm being a little bit messier than i would normally be, but honestly for this hairstyle, because those first ponytails are so like tight and held in place. Even if it is a little messy, it's not going to go anywhere gosh. My hair used to be long enough that i could like just put it in my mouth, but apparently not feel so stupid. There we go okay, cool. I obviously have some like bigger pieces. Sticking out and you could either like hold it down and hair spray. It use some gel, sometimes i'll, just take a bobby pin and try to grab like that specific piece and just tuck it in somewhere voila um. So you know i could do that all the way back, but i well maybe i should i don't know if i have any bobby pins flying around, i need to go search for bobby pins uh. I don't have enough to do every stray piece, but i have like five. Oh no do you guys lose bobby pins like crazy. I like really really try to put them in the same spot and then i don't know what happens but they're, probably all like. Under the couch or something i don't know, okay, so big chunk, i'm going to pin it so my pin just has it and then i'm going to tuck the pin around honestly: listen they're, not the neatest, so my magic secret um. These are braid beads they're like little clampy things i'll link these ones. If i can find them and if not i'll link a couple other options, i used to have dreadlocks. Actually, when i was growing out my shaved head when my hair got really short i had dreadlocks put in, so that my natural hair could grow and at the time i bought these. So they are these. They are these like round metal, beads and they're, not fully connected so they're like very flexible. You can reuse them. Sometimes they break just from too much like opening closing but um. I like to use these to hide this first rubber band, so i'll open up. One of these i will wrap it around. Oh, my gosh. Let me see if i can show you this so you have like i've stuck it through that first little loop and i will just pinch it closed over top of that first rubber band. Ah, yes, okay! So i'll do that on both sides. Yes, okay, success, um and i think it just makes the whole thing look like a little neater and more polished, and then, if i do one at the top i'll usually do one on the end as well. So i'll just wrap it around that last rubber band pinch, it closed oops. That feels like. Maybe i broke it? Oh, okay! Yes, we did it wow. I feel cool and spunky my friends so yeah. This is a hairstyle that i will do for all sorts of things. I think, especially with the little gold bits. It just looks a little like dressed up. We did it um. I hope you guys liked that video. That was fun. For me, this is not really a type of video that i've done um ever and aside from hair. It'S been a long time since i've just sat down and talked. I think, if you guys, like this and you're interested in more, i can expand and show you some of the more complicated braids, the ones where i add in braiding, hair or the ones where i do more strands and more weaving. This was super fun and i also feel like because i can't obviously go to people's houses and diy right now, which is what i was planning for my channel to be at this point: yeah, i'm just kind of learning how to like, adjust and other things that You guys would want to see aside from diy, so i hope you guys enjoyed um. I have therapy in three minutes, so i'm gon na go get that mental health right and i hope you guys are all staying safe and healthy and kind. And thanks for hanging out with me today and i'll see you in the next one bye

Michie Butterfly77: I am so excited for this Andie!! My hair is a little longer than yours and I have been dying to do pig braids!! I hope I can follow along, I’m so clumsy with my hair! I have fine hair, but I have a crimper too (yes, from my middle school days in the 80’s!! HAHA! Happy Saturday mama! And thank u for being on here and being u!:)☀️

Lise Halskov: Loved it - please do more braid tutorials!

Mels: My arms could never!!! I’m always jealous of people who can braid their own hair or do styles like this because my arms get so tired and I give up. So I just let my curls be crazy all day cause that’s easier. Or when in doubt I just go with a messy bun but this is so cute and I have a ton of tiny elastics so I might TRY this. Cause it looks so cool.

Noniponi: Definitely gonna try this! Just gonna find those tiny elastics and where they’re sold

L̺͆.K̺͆.: Yes, thanks for the video and please make more of this. Its awsome ❤️

Charlotte H: I loved this video. I will definitely try it. Thank you for sharing :)

tammy Hendrickson: I think I might be able to have braids now. Thanks for showing me how to do it

Messy Mari: You always have the coolest hair! So glad you made a tutorial, and I hope you'll make more :)

Sara Nena: Andie I was so sure that some sort of hairdresser makes your hair... Woooooooow you are so creative and talented in everything. Sara Nena DIY

Michie Butterfly77: Yay! Haven’t even watched it yet, but your notifications get me so excited! I love that you are uploading more!!☀️Positive Vibes from South Florida!!! Ur hair is awesome! Makes u look sunshiny!

Rena: I think it looks pretty cool just in the rubber bands!

Mia Lee: If only you had uploaded this a few months ago when I was screaming with rage at not being able to braid my hair. I buzzed my head two weeks ago lol. PS your hair color looks fucking SICK

Janet Suzanne: This looks amazing, but I know I would get way too impatient! Also, how do your arms not ache? Just a normal french plait/french braids are enough of an arm workout for me!

anony-mouse 🐁: You're so amazing

Saheli Mondal: You are so underrated. I love your style and your artistic abilities are far more great ❤

Mather Bryant: I've got a big neck too ❤️ the video ❤️

LeahHolland2013: does this still work similar on longer hair?

Thomasina Sullivan: I have hypothyroidism & hashimotos disease. I also had a cancerous nodule removed along with half of my thyroid. Sounds scary but I was lucky and didn’t have to have treatment just lots of anxiety during the process. I will say that blood tests can come back clear but you can still have a thyroid problem. So I suggest if you have 2 or more thyroid symptoms to ask for a ultrasound of your thyroid to check for nodules and goiters. I hope you get some answers.

Stephanie Jo Rountree: For gut health, eat fermented foods, like kimchi. Cute hairstyle! I feel the same way about hair - off my face!

Lara Nelson: u should totally do a mullet! i feel like it would look so good on u, and then u wouldnt have any long hair falling in ur face but could still have some length in the back

Lexi Jones: You are adorable

Amelia avocado: TYSMMMMM

Kim van der Linden: Excuuuse me but what is up with the English language calling everything "Dutch" O_O dutch oven, dutch party, dutch paying, dutch doors, dutch braids, dutch wife, and probably more that I don't even know about. :'D

Technological V1nce: Can u do more animal crossing vids?
