Hello and welcome to science beyond his channel today, I'm coming to you with an updated version of my healthy, no nuts box braids. Now today I will be showing you how to grip short hair. I'Ve started her hair already the only difference in this method that I'm doing today, instead of tying off the end of the hair, I braided the hair to then to the very end. So it goes from her roots all the way to the end. Now, the hair that I'm using this time, it's a Bobby vos jumbo braid. This is the hair that I'm using to do a hair and so far with this pack, I don't really. This is this. Hair is OK at my local beauty supply store. It is like three four five, so I bought nine this time and of the nine so far I have used six, so it's taking a lot of hair and considering the fact that it is tailbone length. So it's very very long which you would see that in the end, so what I wanted to do, cuz she had her hair cut a couple of times and it's growing back but like round the edges, she had to cut really really short around her edges. They had been, it had been cut, so it's trying to grow, it's growing back, okay, so for the summer, this is going to be your best friend. If you want to do and protect this down, this is going to be your best friend. Your hair is going to grow like crazy because it does not have that tension of those. Not this is what usually, when somebody do your hair. This is what happened. Do you see how I'm squeezing her hair? That'S cutting off your blood circulation? You don't want that. It calls bumps and it begins to thin out your hair line. You don't want that. You want your hair to grow in the process of you wearing this protective style or just a style period. Bracelets been around for years and years for generations. So I just want to show you how to do it in a very healthy way. I taught myself this way because I've always wanted to do these braids I've seen people do hair, but I could never catch on to doing that, not at the root and I'm so glad it did not work out that way from me. So practice make perfect. This did not happen overnight. Please don't think that it took me a lot of practice determine determining how much hair to use for each individual braid, how long to do it, and how often should I apply the hair. So I want to teach you that that's why I come over here. To do these things? Okay, so I want to show you once again how to achieve this healthy, no nut box braids. If you come across any hair that is really really short or extremely short. I want you to get some spread. You may not find it in this collar. I bought this probably two or three years ago from um. This guy was doing my hair week. Now that I do my own hair, I still have this. I bought this three years ago, three four years ago, so I still have it. That is why, but you can get spread same thing, that's what it is and what you want to do in eight in order to be able to grip the hair. That'S very very short: it's not shortened, it is what you take your spread to just do a couple of pumps, and you know when the hair is healthy, because you, although you sprayed it with Sprint's, look I'm pulling her hair hair is not coming out and she Is relaxed she's, not natural, she's, she's relaxed. She has a parameter here, I'm pulling that's what you call healthy here. It'S not breaking off in my hand or anything, so I want to take my hair and divide it in three sections. That would be my first because that's the shortest the shortest. Then I do a middle in three. You want to have three parts to the hair. You looking crazy games, but try smile there. Okay, she would have three sections to her hair, yet a to her hair that particular braid put your need. I can't seeing it in that light. Okay, three section. So just what you want to do. One two: three take your thumb! Rest! It right here grab it go under the hair, hold it just like that. Let'S do it one more time see it's ticking and that's what you wanted to do, because you want to be able to grip it one. Let'S do it again, one two three I take my phone rested on that first piece go under and I'm going to hold it there. Let'S pass them here so with the hair you're not going to divide this hair. However, it comes in that pack. I want you to keep it long gage, but trying to pull it just a little bit on the end, so it doesn't have a balance to it or it doesn't look so perfect. That is just the long hair itself she had never cut. I never cut the hair, here's the hair, I never cut cut the hair, so what I want to do is take it. On top of this index finger, I'm just going to wrap it around the index finger and pull down on it. Now that hair becomes connected to the middle piece and the lower piece of that that particular braid so you're going to take your hair you're going to wrap around it's going to seem like it's pulling tight but you're. Not I promise you, you see how the hair is loose, go, wrap it around okay! So there's one of my ends that I have free she's going to give me some more hair, she's gon na pass me some more hair, I'm going to fit around the index finger on top and I'm going to braid she's going to give me some more hair And I wish she would speed up because you know I don't plan on being up all night wrapping around your index finger and, like I said for me once I get such certain point, people I'm going under him because it allows me to go for me. It allows me to go faster. I hope you can see that good, but it's like trying to show you how to do it and still be perfect with it. What I am going to do them take that one to lose, but let me show you this I've already gone to here. Indeed, the majority of the back of our hair can turn around for me, okay, so this is right here. I'Ve already done these raids, I'm going to dip it, and I moisturize in between there is a cream that I put in between it's all the way to the end you saw all right here is: this is the end. You have some some flyaway hair on the head, but it's fine we're going to dip it in some water and it's going to relax that here. That'S our ends are looking now we're not doing the get to the end and then we're going to tie it off and braid it and then different, we're gon na pack, this bad baby to the very end, and you want your hair - can go out just a Little bit more for me, you don't want it too, even at the bottom. You want it to hang. Your flow naturally see that let's come back up again, can you come back some please yesterday, let me go ahead and finish our hair, but I'm just I just have to show it to you as close as possible and if you have short hair, do not be Intimidated by this hair, you spray a little spritz on it, so it can give you something to grab stew or to grip, and you begin the same way, one more time when I keep some battery and I'll come back when it's finished want to dip it in The hot water - and I will show you a sound and make sure you screen your help at the end, because if you don't strain, this hair as you're braiding is going to tangle and then you're going to get frustrated so make sure you're spreading up your ends. As you're braiding, her hair, strong she have relaxed here. What you want to do is take your favorite spritz, that's going to whole sprit one or two times once you spray. It do not comb that hair divide it as you would in three sections and something that is that's thin, so we're going to do the same technique. Take some hair. You don't want the hair when you're doing something around the edge. That'S really thin, you don't want it to be too heavy. You don't want to give it any weight regardless, although it's not gon na pull the scalp, but you don't want to give it too much weight cross over. You see that cross over. Take your finger under and now you have this exposed, hair she's going to pass me some hair. I don't think, but that's a little bit too thin. I want to take that piece of hair. Okay, the hair she just gave me give me another piece, I'll hold it for a minute. Okay, this rather thick. I don't know she pays me thick hair. You see that loose piece of hair right there. I want to take it over. It'S going to rest on my index finger and then I'm going to go to the root of her head and twist and we're going to come back around she's going to pass me some more haircut. So you see how thin it is now watch this if you're completing overhanded instead of underhanded you're, going to always add this way, but, like I said, I'm left-handed, so I have to go underhand and at the certain point, that's why I like the technique. The technique changes, but it's not really changes the way, you're applying the hair over the top and keep going down piece of hair over the top and gather right there and keep going down now, like I said, if you want to braid over hand, you can do This method all the way over, but it's going to change. If you go underhand it, you saw that that's changing I'm going to grab that to the side. Now the only difference is, I'm still don't connect here, but it's going to connect here and it's other hands. Half its going to rest here, can you here, let me show them, because I'm going underhand, that's why it looks like it sort of changes, but it's not the technique of applying the hair is a little bit local unrest here, wherever, with my thumb, rest it and Let it lay it on top, where the index finger hair, now we're just going to intertwine it and then look at it. I'M intertwining that, but it still looked like the actual braid she's, going to give me another piece of hair top side and keep going down and keep on going down: hair. Okay and there you go. You come over. Someone come close now, as you can see right here. You still can't tell me where I started and where it ends I'm going to continue this bread all the way down and come back and let you guys take a look at what see for me. It'S faster to go this way and I drag my hand all the way to the end of this here, so it will not tangle, but I wish I could do this for my all here. This is going to be a best friend for the some time. This hairstyle or even the cornrows, take a look at my video for the cornrows and see it's. It looks like it's pulling, but when I release the hair look how loose that is, it's not really loose, but it allows the hair to breathe. Look up here. Okay, so once the kamon show you guy says, this is like the three parts that we had. That'S a three part. This is a little bit more thinner than the rest of the hair. Do we add more hair, or do we borrow from the thickets in this case you want to borrow so the thickest to me to try and balance this middle out would be to get some hair from this section right here. So this what you want to do, keep your ends right. There pull song from that side, which I just did now it's going to make hold that braid at the top. It'S going to make this become more thicker to balance out at the end, it's not going to take away from your braid, it's not going to make it look kind of funky or whatever the case may be. It'S going balance and just continue to braid down and remember now, seeing now that's more balanced. Do you think that those three screens are more balanced and I can keep going without adding hair because, if I add more hair, it's going to exceed the other plants that I've already done? If you have to continue to borrow hair? Do that Evan task two? I do other people here. I don't because of I'm really developing arthritis in my hand and it hurts. I really don't want to do her here, but she would not let anybody else throw herring. I need to borrow because look at there, so I'm just gon na take a little bit from that middle hold. It still hold it steady and borrow, and then it's balancing once again but yeah. I wish you Willis buddy else over here cuz, I'm tired of doing here. People I'll teach you how to do what I know and everything has come from trial and error, and sometimes God just gave me visions about things, and I have epiphany all the time about creating things. Look at their do I borrow, or do I continue to braid? Well, since we're so close to the end, I'm just going to continue to braid down, and that would give me my ending to my hair. You pull it up a little bit data. This is going to give me my end into my hair, just gon na keep on flat until it stops. Don'T worry about that. Don'T we know when you worry about that because, like I said we're gon na dupe this hair at some hot water, you had to be very cautious when you're doing that, so you won't burn the person. Okay, now you're saying tell you: well you braid it to the end. You'Ll have any more hair to braid guys. What let me show you this right here. That'S why? Let me show you this right here: okay phone, please! It'S not going to unravel! So don't worry about it, you plan, so that's the first. I want to go with it because that will come off, so I got that little bit level wrap around my finger, pull. That'S it. I wrapped around my finger and took off that little bit and says now: look how long this braid you just look at it from top on top to bottom. Look how long this, where it is! Okay, you guys, I have a completed the updated version of the healthy no.not box. Braids. The only difference is, I did not tie off the ends. I planted her hair to the very end, so the final step we want to do is to dip it in some hot water, be very, very cautious when you're doing the, because you don't want anyone to get burnt. I really let this water boil for too long, but you don't want to do it for no more than probably about a minute or two. That would be good enough. So I'm gon na have her come over towards the sink, and I have a tower. You must have a towel on hand, that's a must and you gon na be sued one two, all right: okay, I'm gon na! Let her lean back song! Okay, remember! I'M in control over here we're gon na take her here. I'M take her here and gather her hair together since they're so long. She I mean she's laying on away -- but way my girl, okay, I'm going to take this in and we're going to place that inside the water now we're going to place it inside the water and let let your client or the person here is you let Your client other person, how you're doing let them do this for about 30 30 to 45 seconds, and you just want to make sure that's really really relaxed. Remember you got to come back if you want to see how to maintain your braids first um treating dry scab, you don't want your hair to be dry push back a little bit for me. I want to get that in there, as as far as I can handle it come back cuz. I want you to get burned, cuz a girl. I can't go to the doctor. I am tied at two o'clock in the morning. Y'All ain't going a husband. I went put some Vaseline on her. She get burnt how just kidding they COC will petition. Oh he's every wasn't a work sure. We know that no, I shoot Walmart, okay, so, okay, good. She decided to turn sideways, which is probably a better way to do it right now. I'M tired, y'all, I'm sorry dip some morning if you're gon na see that's better. Okay, that's why I really wanted her to get that far down. Okay, we're dipping and the reason being because her braids are just so very long as huh and remember, like I stated we did not tie off these ends. We just braid it to the very end. Whatever was loose, we left it loose it. This would not unravel you say, is trying to relax his hair. I don't wan na burn my hand. Now I can take a beating on the hand, but oh yeah, I do it too damn high and like second third. Fourth, three burners, oh girl work. They had net water work here now we used to wash clothes. I remember watching clothes on a scrub boat scrub to whatever the hell it was called when a watch chief, okay, what you want to do is take the hair, not really wrap it, because you wanted to stay in the relaxed state. So you want the client or your person or the person here. You'Re doing you wan na make sure you have a towel. That'S all I can see make sure you have a child, don't squeeze it because you're gon na, if you squeeze it, what she's going to do is it's going to go back to being crinkly sorter? And I don't want that. Do you see that the state of the hair is in it's more relaxed? You see, I'd straighten it even more so yeah. That'S what I want, and you want to hold this towel over the hair for a minute or two, because just keep in mind that they have absorbed all that water on it in and to place it on a client or the person here. You'Re doing home you and your lawsuit don't be calling me tie my song you beyond its own me. No, I did. I told you get a towel. Okay, there we go always smoking baby. Look at her look at her look at they are here is here to. I just drove okay. Okay. Here we go okay, we have two options. I can trim her hair she went to, but I don't think she wants it. It'S smoking right now, because it's still hot, but she can't feel it and that that's long, let's for long. Okay, that is really really really long. Okay, y'all look at the length of did your hair this time. That is it to bone man. Yes, it is. I got a mustache, but I hope you enjoy the time sure together until next time be blessed. I got a form pairs of self in the kitchen, so see you next video look at the pictures you're going to like them.

KAY SYLVAIN: I've always wanted to do box braids, but I really dislike how fake the big knots look at the beginning. I'm so happy I found this video! Will definitely be using this method!!!

Betterme4lf: 5 years later known as knotless box braids❤

CBabySin: God must have been smiling on me, I just watched this video yesterday and tried it on my daughters.. It happened over night for me, lol, I give you the credit, you must have been the perfect teacher sis. Thanks for something new I never thought I could do.

idial goode: Lol this is my favorite box braid tutorial! I saw this 1 year ago and now this is my favorite hairstyle for my three daughters. Thank you Sonya

Deleal Gladney: This was great and easy to understand.  My daughter wanted me to do box braids, but I was scared because I've never done it before and all of the tutorials were confusing.  I feel like I can do this immediately after watching.  THANK YOU!  My daughter thanks you, too.  BTW, your daughter is a beautiful little cutie pie!!!!

Jhayn Deaux: Doing my happy dance :) Best video I've seen yet. I was also wondering how to get my braids like that because I just took out the Senegalese twist that I did and found that my hair was more protected at the root and easier to take out. It took about 30 minutes. No breakage either!! Thanks and loooove the accent and the explanation of your str words lol

JeSuisSavvy: Hands down the absolute BESTEST braid tutorial EVER! Thank you so much for this!

SymplyGorgeous: I'm so glad I came across this video. I was able to braid my mom's hair in half the time that it'd normally take using the other method & it looked a lot neater too. Thanks so much for sharing this technique :o)

Riccara Love: It's crazy how popular no knots are now. You been doing this a long time ago.

denisedomingue: Thank you so much for taking the time to make the video and for sharing your technique. I've been getting braided for about a year after a bad very short cut and have grown out to about shoulder length but felt like the knot was causing me to lose more hair than I should when I would take the braids out. I'm spending my weekend practicing.

Michelle Acquaye: Thank you SO much Sonya. I have three daughters so I braid a lot! :) I have always wanted to learn how to do the "no knot". Your video is excellent and I can't wait to try your technique.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Kelly DeGree: Love this technique! Tried it out with twist braid in my daughter's hair and it worked like a charm! Thanks for sharing! !!!

Alyssa Barnes: Thank you for this tutorial!! I've been wanting to do jumbo plaits, but didn't want jumbo knots at the roots. This is perfect! Can't wait to try it.

SweetandSassy ;-D: Love it! When I was younger I had long, healthy, thick natural hair! My mom worked two jobs and couldn't keep up with it and my older sister never wanted to do it so they gave me a relaxer :-(. I think they were jealous because my hair was way longer than theirs! My hair got so messed up, broken off and wouldn't grow past my shoulders afterwards. I'm an adult now and with only two ethnic stylist in the city, I live in I decided to do a big chop last summer and go back natural. I don't have much experience on doing my natural hair but I have had 5 and a half inches of growth so far and I'm so excited, thanks for the video I'm trying this style!

Betty Nelson: hey Sonya. I love your style of braiding box braids and the next time I do my daughters hair I'm going this method. love the beautiful photos too .

laurie ellis: Watched your videos and now I'm braiding my 15 year olds hair! She loves it! First time she got box braids I forked over 120.00 plus a 20.00 tip plus around 20.00 for hair. Total-160.00. Now I'm doing braids for hair cost only and around ten hours of my day but it's worth it!! Love your method and will continue using!

MsVoluptuousBeauty: Love it! Girl u rock!!! I've been wanting to know how to do the box braids for sooooo very long, you just don't know. Then one day I stumbled upon your video..viola I know I hit the jackpot. Thanks a million. Im on a disability income and money has always been an issue with getting the styles I wanted..especially braids..box braids is my favorite. Now I know how to do it myself. How it will turn out, don't know, frankly I'm not caring that much. Can you say practice, practice! On anyone willing to allow me. Have a question: how long do you think one should keep it in the style? My hair grows really fast and tends to dread at the roots after bout 6 weeks, keeping it moisturizer helps but not much. Please email me your expert advice on care and maintenance.

Monica Hill: Thank you do much for this tutorial and the consistent dialogue, it was very helpful. I was practicing on my daughter's doll's hair so I could get it somewhat right when I do hers. I like the no knot method. My ends are gone because of the hair being pulled too tight for twists and braids by others who prefer the knot method.

Titi Olurin: This is the absolute best method. My hair has grown so much in the last two times I've used this method. Thanks for sharing.

Rosemaryyt: I wish I were blessed enough to find someone like you to do my hair!! You do a wonderful job! This is my goal for my next braiding style for sure!

QueenTxoxo1: THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! You explained it so good and made it look easy. I have never done my own extensions but in my mind I felt like I'd know how to do this technique, thanks so much for giving a visual.

niceleedone: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I've been braiding for decades but I couldn't figure out how to add the extension hair without the knot (I thought the knot made it look official...wrong) and your video, guidance and simplicity of teaching made my first time attempt successful...so I tip my hat to you with much appreciation...THANK YOU!!!

Janise: Girl you should put a patent on this! I've been doing box braids for at least ten years and have never seen this or known how to do box braids without the knot. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

simplypluv: Hi Sonyabeonit!!...I just want to thank you for this easy beautiful technique for braiding. I just finished my daughters hair and we love it! Thank you

it's Dawn Elle: This looks really cool and I love the idea of "no knots' because my hair always broke off in the past from the knots. I do have a question though, is there a specific number of times that you have to add hair? I'm trying to understand the concept behind it.

Jasmine Ahnie: those braids looked so nice!! i've had some hair for about a year that i have yet to use! lol i don't know how to braid my own hair, but i'm definitely going to try this! thank you! :D

Chanda Cable: this came so helpful when my 8yr old wanted box braids for the summer thank you Queen

Vanessa Shaw: Thanks for posting such a clear, concise professional demo. Your narrative and lighting are so clean. I am definitely subscribing.

Catia Johnson: Thank you for this! I'm transitioning from relaxed to natural and braids will make this much easier for me. I hate braids due to the fact that it has damaged my edges soo much. This looks much healthier for hair. I will be spamming my hairdresser to learn how to do this for me. Lol

Stella Dee Coder: Thank you so much for this tut! I can do box braids now without the knots!!!

Eboni Boyd: Thanks so much Sonya, it is still challenging for me to grip and knot the hair and this technique to me looks way more natural. As a fellow lefty I am glad I can see it the way I would actually position my hands!  I recently did the "big chop" in July however I think I have enough growth to get braids. I have very fine hair and the spritz is something I did not consider. I hope to come back and update you on my DIY healthy no knots braids on this super curly short fro!

Alexis Eromosele: This is beautiful! Can you share how your daughter's hair is doing using this method? Has growth been better and breakage been less using this? Thank you so much!

fabpsalmist705: Loved this method!!! it's so much healthier than the usual way but, I have to ask how do you know when to add hair? Is it when you see the stran of hair looking to thin you add hair until all the stans are even  or is it the size of the braid you want.

templeofjackson: I did this method last night on my daughter. . came out excellent! .. so nice n much easier in my opinion. .. Thanks for the share

yarnsrj: Love your video!  Love how they have a natural look without having that "pulled scalp" look..How do you determine how much hair to keep adding if you are doing slightly thicker boxes? I too have arthritis and want to do thicker braids.

Vanessa Bella Beauty: These are really pretty!! I love your technique for these. I might have to try these out on my sister. How long did it take you to do the whole head? I'm sure someone asked but I'm commenting while watching lol.

Alexis Brooks: 4 years ago, this video was made and now the knot less braids are soooo popular

JazzcatSings: Your method is the best looking and most natural looking at the scalp I've seen.  There are some 'hotshot' stylists that use the exact method you are using, but on corn rowed styles. I'm glad to see someone figured out how to do it!   When I dip my hair I do it in sections, and believe it or not I do it over the stove while the water is boiling!  I lay the hot hair on a towel that I have on the counter, and I make sure there are no bends in the ends of the hair. I then lay a piece of the towel over it and just press down to soak up some of the water. If one winds up bent I redip it.   I love box braids but it takes me days to complete my head!

Chantah Jones: Absolutely LOVE IT!!!

Creole Natchitoches: I keep coming back to your channel trying to decide between Senegalese/Havana twists or box braids. Your technique is authentic and explanations are easy. Thanks!!

jnefitema yep: Those braids look natural as hell. Great job. I'm trying this method

Jenazia Conway: I love this tutorial so specific thank you and ur very charming u did a wonderful job

Lenafn7: Love this no knot look so much but it seems so tedious! Such a nice job tho I might try it on my lil sisters hair.

Bizzlroklyptc Mclean: i love this. I'm getting these for the first time. I've been getting my hair braided ever since i was little these look like they last long time

LonnieB: You are a God send for making this video. Excellent tutorial, I will try this when I get home!

Pia Evans: Very nice! I'm getting back into braiding hair, and I think I want to try this technique. It seems a little bit more time consuming. However, if it promotes the health of the hair, it's worth it.

MissJuneBaby: How long did this take you to do? I've never done extensions before (but your video gives me courage to try) and I need to get my mind, body, house, & daughter prepared for this. LOL Luckily, I just happened upon this video, I'm going to your channel to look for the version w/ natural hair. Great Job!!

Jane Doe: I loved this vid. I don't know how people can complain about you being specific and making sure the viewer sees and understands what your trying to teach. #newsubbie

Daniela Leon: You are so patience to explain it... Great job girl..!!

PiecesOfPJ_LB: Oh , Yes Ma'am! I was just trying to think of way i can do on my young daughter's hair without all the tension on her edges. Awesome Tip. Question ? I don't have to add to the braid as many times as you did do i ? Can i just do the first 2 add ins ?

Neema Y. S: These are by far the most impressive box braids I have ever seen! Does anyone know any reputable braiding salons in the Charlotte, North Carolina or Atlanta, Georgia area that offer this braiding method (no knots)? It would also be very helpful if someone had experience with the salon. Thanks in advance!

Shannon: I so have to try this. It looks easier than my normal technique. I just hope my girls are as helpful as this lil girl was, she's doing an awesome job!

Alicia Taylor: OMG! I love this video - you are soo entertaining. Your method is definitely on point. At first, I started to complain about you choosing to NOT do a voice over edit on your vid. But the more I listened to you: telling the young lady she was moving too slow; talking about how tired you were; telling everyone that you weren't gonna burn yourself, and then telling the girl to 'work the hair'... you had me ROLLING! Forget any voice over editing. Eventhough ur vid is kinda LONG for me, you kept me entertained and reminded me of one of my crazy friends. LOVE IT. Keep doing it YOUR way. :)

72monkeylady: Thanks for sharing your braiding technique. I'm also left handed and this will help me out a lot. Thanks again ! I really enjoy your videos

Christina Marie: I love this I surely will do this method from now on. Thank you

Lauryn Lucas: Some people commenting about how shes being rude to her daughter.. ? I dont what video they watchin lol. But i absolutely lovedddd learning this technique. Box braids usualy pull my hair out so i think this technique will be better on my hair. Thanks for sharing
