First of all, lord farquaad's first problem is: is this hair if it doesn't go with his face, shape his chins way too big he's showing way too much of his forehead? Lord Farquaad could really use some curtain bangs and a little bit of length, and that leads me to hi guys welcome back to my channel. So I asked on my Instagram what hair tutorials for short hair. You guys wanted to see - and I got a lot of requests for how to put in clip-in bangs. How did you a cute, half-up, half-down and then how to do Flatiron waves? So I'm going to kind of combine all three today and show you how to do it. On my hair, I actually was home at my parents house this weekend and found a few photos of my natural hair and when you say half-up half-down, I don't think this is what you're referencing, but I actually found this. I talked to Tracy Cunningham about this. A lot - and she says when you go to your color, done to take a picture of yourself from when you were younger, because your hair was like it was just like, naturally sunkissed. So I found this picture when I was 9 years old and I actually kind of love this hair. I love the choppy bang. I love that the ends are kind of stringy and long alright. So now you can see what my natural hair is like. This is not it so I actually washed my hair with way clean shampoo, because my roots were super dirty and then I used weigh repair conditioner from the middling tens. So, to give my hair super straight and dry on the fly, I used my Dyson era with the soft smoothing brush and I just basically dry my hair and smooth it at the same time. If you guys want to go back and see, I did a Dyson Arab tutorial. Let'S talk about bangs and how you guys can do this on your own. You guys should definitely get a pant, hanger or skirt hanger and in the shower, take your extensions or take your bangs clips and you can wash the hair like it's. If it's human hair, you can wash it like regular hair and let it air dry or you can hang the hanger somewhere and make blow dry their hair. It'S a lot easier for you and if you have it on your head, so most extensions come already pre-wash and it has kind of like a silicone silky to it. So I like to wash it with dish soap just to get it really nice and fluffy, and you get rid of that like really waxy feeling. So we just kind of rough, dried and and blew out these bangs here, I'm gon na take a flat iron and from the mid length to the end, I'm just gon na kind of bend it and give it kind of like a natural Bend and same with Here on the sides, I'm going to take this and kind of just bend the end so that it goes away, I'm gon na kind of eyeball. Where I want the bangs to hit. You know I could Bend those. So this particular Bank piece is from the hair shop in Los Angeles in New York, and it has these fun little clips and I'll show you guys how you can secure these clips. This is the blunt bang so before I actually put the bangs in my hair, I'm gon na just take a little triangle section here in the front and make sure that I'm pinning like, if you guys have like layered bangs or anything you want to actually pin It away from your face so that the bangs look a little bit more natural, so I'm just gon na take maybe like an inch and a half of the hair, but I'm gon na secure it with a rubber band about an inch and a quarter off the Roof and if you have really really thick hair, you can also take a bobby pin and just kind of pin it down. I'Ll show you how to do that: okay, okay! So now I'm going to take a bobby pin to this side and I'm just gon na hold it down and right behind without never abandon is where I'm just gon na secure that at the root. It'S a very like ninety Spice Girl moment: I'm gon na tease my hair or I'm gon na secure these clips. So if I eyeball it, it's gon na be right here at the top of my crown and about right here and right here. So I'm just gon na take a little rat tail comb. You guys can get the again at like Walgreens CVS, doing weed Rite Aid, Walmart Kmart Sears Target and I'm just going to spray at the root where I'm doing that, little bit of a tease and then right over here on the side and notice. I'M not going right at the root, but that's not where the clips going to be I'm just kind of teasing. It mid lengthen like roughing up the hair a bit. This is a fun Hollywood trick, I'm taking bomb on session spray and strong, and I'm going to spray the actual clips instead of spraying it in my hair and now I'm gon na go and secure the fringe like friend, go to the bangs. It sounds cheaper and I'm gon na secure it where I want it to be, and I can kind of feel where I was teasing and I'm just taking the clips and securing them. You can hear that snap and in just a second diamond, look like one of the Ramones and in no time you're gon na look like a caveman, so this is kind of like a pulp fiction. Vibe, alright, guys so veins are secure. I can feel like I'm moving around flipping my hair. I can feel that it's super secure and I wanted to feel like it's gon na hit right at the top of my eyebrow. So that's why I kind of put it down a little bit lower with by the time I put product in it and mess it up. It'S gon na come up just a little bit. What do I look like right now, Tiny Tim. I look like Dora. The Explorer but uh come on stop. So if these sides are giving you any issues and getting a little puffy, you can actually go through and just kind of smooth it with a flat iron or you could take a hot curling iron and I kind of smooth it down with a hot curling iron. You guys look how easy that was so now that it's on my head, I'm actually gon na kind of shape it a little bit more. I think you guys can still find that the k-beauty is it's still one of my favorites. I used to use Chi a lot. They'Re really good. I also like GHD has a really great flat iron, the I am just obsessed with this, and it's been in my kit, for, like I mean I bought a ton, so I've had this one to make it for like three or four years, but so now what I like to do is I like to take the corners of the fringe, and I kind of like at an angle will angle it back in a way so that it doesn't go like right into my face that should cut bangs again another fun trick for you. Girls that have blonde hair or like a light brown if the bang is a little off Greta's on, has a really great move, concealer that you can use, and you basically just spray it at the root to really like blend the color and make it look like It yours I'm a little parched, so I'm gon na take a quick little coffee break. I'M gon na take a Coney for a coffee break because look hard play harder. You brew it slow for a less acidic taste, pasta from the very first not sponsored by this way like this coffee. So now that I have the bangs secured I'm going to go through and just put in my beachy waves with a flat iron. I'M gon na use way where you spray, just to kind of give a little bit of life back to my hair and to promote my natural waves to come through. Weh-Weh spray can be found at Nordstrom, a true bulb. That'S Sephora bet Sephora JCPenney at Urban Outfitters and Wacom. So now I'm going to go with my Dyson super sonic that I'm gon na have it on I'd, say low airflow and medium heat and I'm just gon na kind of rough dry. My hair and also the extension just to get the nice like fullness, so I always suggest whether you have fine hair, medium, hair, overly thick hair. Just taking a hair spray, you can use a strong hold hairspray or you can use a lighter hairspray. I'M going to use weight, texturizing hairspray, because my hair is pretty much like medium thick and I'm gon na go and just prep the hair. Before I use my hot tools and I'm going to brush through the product, I'm holding my friends so that it doesn't move just to really work it from the root ends. You can't tell me my hair stops and the bang begins. Oh, my god, the stomach's in this room. Look! Nobody on my team needs. I told my stylist that I've kind of move into my hair, looking really nice and thick, so we've been doing a blunt cut once in a while I'll have them cut up at the end, just to get a little bit of like piscina sand texture on the Bottom, but I don't like a ton of layers with short hair, because it's just a lot of work for me, because when you're still thick, I'm now gon na go through and just separate my hair into two sections and I'm gon na start doing the flat iron Waves, so a little trick for flat iron waves. I think everyone just thinks that you need to just kind of go back and forth like that. That'S gon na give you kind of like waffle iron waves, so I love like a really cool messy like natural. Looking like, I love Taylor Lachey's, like French girl vibe. So if you don't follow her you should I don't do it like straight across horizontally. I ain't let kinda like at a 45 degree angle. I had to ask my assistant off-camera wedding, to love us, so so I'm kinda bout that 45 degree angle, bending up and bending YUM. So the reason why I'm smoothing at the root and keeping it really really loose at the bottom? It'S because I don't want my hair to get too big and I have medium hair and it will just be like poofy triangle perm, so I'm going through, I suggest for girls with sick hair. To do the same and again, I'm at the 45 degree angle and I'm just gon na kind of like feed the hair into the iron and tap it and then go in the opposite direction and kind of just tap the hair into the iron. As I'm opening and closing it, and now I'm not squeezing I'm just like lightly topping sorry, I'm gon na tell you guys. This is a one-inch cracking media iron. So this is a professional iron go up to 420 degrees. I actually have it in the middle. At 360, if you guys are really worried about heat, which you should be damaging your hair, I would suggest getting like a JH deed. You can also do Harry Josh's, Flatiron it'll get quite as hot and I'm taking kind of thick sections. You don't have to be so precious, so if you have really fine hair, I would actually take sections and kind of make your bends a little tighter just so your hair looks a little bit bigger and notice that I'm not doing the same thing and every section I'M actually starting by going under some of them. I start by going over just to give a nice dimension to the hair so that it looks like a natural wave and doesn't get too repetitive all right. I know you guys are gon na say how do I do the back? It'S so hard. I have long hair and I want to do these same waves. You guys can actually split your hair in the back and bring it forward and do the same thing at this angle. Here you don't have to like feel like your arms. Aren'T long enough all right. So now I'm going to deal with my top section. You guys, don't stress out so much about the bottom, especially in the back, because no one's really gon na like see that you want to save all of your frustration on the top section. The pieces around the front of your face are the most important you guys. So I'm gon na basically take my hair and I'm going to starve up an inch and a half to two inches away from the root and again I'm at that 45 degree angle and I'm just gon na kind of Bend in the direction that I think a Natural curl would look alright. I have a question from my Instagram. Someone would like to know how to replicate old Hollywood glam on short, hair, okay, how to replicate an old Hollywood glam on short hair. I got ta tell you guys, that's a whole video in itself. Do you guys want to see that? Let me know in the comment section below and I can show you how to do like an old school. I love like a Bianca Jagger kind of like a really cool Roller set, that's brushed out, so I can show you guys how to do that too. So now that I'm in the back here, I'm actually gon na start B notice, I'm now gon na send a round out the root there and then slip up. So I'm just switching it up and I'm doing that because I want to have a nice round this here. I don't want to be too fast. Jadon Katie wants to know how to not look like de Bourgh Farquaad, oh my god. Well, first of all, I'm kind of traveling in right: now you don't till fire. Remember that's a very noble or swirl flop. What is it? Let me see Lord Farquaad, I'm not mad at that by the way I had their hair like six months ago. Well, first of all, lord farquaad's first problem is: is this hair if it doesn't go off his face, shape his Chin's way too big he's showing way too much of his forehead? Lord Farquaad could really use some curtain bangs and a little bit, and that leads me to something I want to tell you guys is that if you have a really really round face, you don't want to do a really short cut. You don't want to go like chin lengthen above you want to keep it like collarbone to elongate your face. Also, if you guys have a heart-shaped face or you have like a square face, I love a bang. I love a bang like this or bang a little bit shorter. If you have a really round face or an oval-shaped face, I would suggest keeping the bangs a little bit longer and doing like a Bardot bang as you're working. If you go back and you see there's like little pieces that you want to kind of go and Jewish, it's okay go for it! I'M tired! This is something that, like I need to tell you guys. I love you guys so much them doing this, but I can't doing my own hair, it's my biggest pet peeve in life. You can only imagine how many hair cuts and how many Styles I've done in my life and, like I just like to hate doing my hair, it's the worst so guys, I'm gon na show you this is like I'm the laziest girl in the world, so I'm Showing you lazy hacks on how to do this, I'm grabbing a whole section in the back, and I'm literally just gon na take that section and I'm gon na Bend up again. I'M like an inch and a half off the roof. I'M gon na bend it up and away and then I'm gon na kind of come at that angle and I'm pushing a little bit harder than I did on the other sections, because this is bigger, but I just want to get through this. So now it's like Lord Farquaad, cheek, like French, Lord Farquaad darkbot. So now that I'm dealt my flat iron beachy waves. I want to show you guys if you have a curling iron at home. This is a one inch. It'S a Marcel iron, which I know it's really hard for you guys to use, but you can also use a regular curling iron. But I wanted to show you this fun hat, because if you want to try to get these bends really quickly, especially for girls with thick hair, you can take those sections I just took and you can actually use your curling iron and just kind of I don't Use the Marcel, because you can tap it open and closed, but you can go to you and just create these bends by going back and forth in the hair. So just know if you don't have a flat ironing. You feel like it's too hard for you. Try with everything going to now, I'm going to show you guys the real magic with getting like really cool beachy waves - it's all about product, so I would suggest for girls with fine hair you're gon na want to use things. That would like give you a little more volume a little bit more like. I would maybe like take your hair and butterfly it and spray like a nice hairspray. I love using way texturizing hairspray, because it just gives you really nice hold and volume as well. I'M gon na show you guys a few products. I know I'm using a lot of way because it's like what I have in my arsenal here, but I use a little mixture of way. Matt pomade and I'm going to put a few few drops of the rose, hair and body oil and mix it together so that it gives me kind of like peace, eNOS and separation. And I don't mind on my hair. My hair can really like soak up oil and it's a really light oil, so it's for your hair and your body, so we'll probably just go through and they can break through the end. So I'll show you some other alternatives to. I actually got these at Target. This is from creme of nature, it's argan oil for your edges and then this one here is edges 24-hour pull by diamond I'll, make sure to put the links in description box for those for you guys. So if you have really thick coarse hair and you want to really make it PG, it's the best thing to use so just a touch of the map. Pomade literally like little finger. Scoop, I'm going to put in the palm of my hands. Take the Rose here and bought it oil just to get two little drops I like to put most of the product in the bottom, at the back of my hair and then whatever's left over, I kind of just go through and peace out, the waves that I Just did and again my gun all about just using your fingers. You think sometimes we get a little too crazy, with choosing our hair out of style and control up ending with a cow literally being with a cowlick. You want to like attack. First thing I would take a water bottle of your hair is dry and just spray, even that got really like cold gel and just really like use a tiny bit of the gel at the cowlick. But I would definitely take like if you can a fine-tooth comb and just really work on a cowlick as you are building it so guys. A little bit of product left, on my hand that I'm gon na now go through and put the pot from the mid link to the ends and the fringe just to kind of open it up and break it up like it was in my little baby picture. So the last trick you guys I do this all the time when I work with my clients and give them leave me care. I am now looking at it with the fringe, and I want this part to be a little bit flatter, so I'm just gon na take that hot curling iron and I'm actually gon na just use it like you would like a flat iron, I'm going to just Smooth that hair in front and make it just a little bit flatter there. Okay, you can see how I'm doing that, so your curling iron can also act as a smoother. If you want a little bit of left here in the back, this is where I don't get mad of teasing the hair. You can take it about tail comb kind of fine to it, can just tease a tiny bit and then really just use your fingers to get that volume there alright and then flip your collar up and there you have it your cool. So I get asked this question all the time like. How do I do a cute pop I cut down with my short hair, so I'm going to show you how I do it with clients I like to actually take a section from the side, and I don't like to take it from the ear up, because I Mean unless you really love your ear go for it. I'M not like obsessed with my ear being shown all the way, so I'm gon na take now. I'Ve got my bang in my hand, so I'm gon na section about half way from my eyebrow and the top of my forehead go from I'd, say the front of my face to about the back of my ear and I'm going to pin not with my double Clip and just clip it aside there and then on the other side, do the same thing so now that I have my sections determined I'm going to graph them and have my rubber band ready in place. It'S just a really small rubber band. You can get these at major Beauty, Supply stores or you get on Amazon. When it's done, you can sponsor my videos if you want so don't be so precious you guys about. If you can see your little rubber band, we try it out before we can always go and cover that later, so to avoid getting a Spongebob Squarepants square head, I'm actually going to take a bobby, pin and just secure here at my at the root so that That doesn't move and I'll do the same for the other side. Alright. So now I'm going to be really careful about holding on to my other side and you guys don't have to be super precise on that. Don'T worry! So now I'm going to take that hair and I'm just gon na kind of like give it just the slightest Bend. Then I'm going to come around to the back alright. So now I'm going to take both sides and I'm going to put together in the rubberband. I'M going to stay about an inch to an inch and a half off the scalp, so that you'll see in a second. Why I'm doing that and then once they're secured together, I'm actually going to turn it into itself. Just once, and now I'm going to secure the ponytail now I'm going to take this cute accessory from bauble bar. It'S a cute little snap clip that's decorated with curls and I'm just going to unsnap. Now, if you want, you can take a fine-tooth comb and kind of like fluff out the hair. That'S underneath it just to make it look a little bit more substantial all right. I feel really good about the back. Let'S talk about the front. We'Ve got to finish. The front now so we have those bobby pins that we held there to keep everything in place. I'M going to actually take a little bobby pins out now, all right! So now I'm going to secure the front with those bobby pins and I'm gon na pull down on the front here towards my face and kind of, I wanted to feel a little bit more relaxed and not so like a little girl tight. So I'm going to pull it down. Take my bobby pin you guys know now from all the means, the correct way to put your bobby pin with the curves against your head, and I love how that looks. Now you guys can see. I have a little bit of like a squareness here, so I'm going to take my bobby pin once I pull down on the hair that kind of disappears and goes away. I'M gon na take that bobby, pin and just to cure. It here guys happens when you're doing your hair and it does fix it. I'M just gon na grab a bobby, pin and put it on the end of that hair and twist him in with a bobby pin to hold them in place. So this is a great time to show you guys this happens all the time to everybody, so I'm going to go and take our reetahan on root concealer. This is a great opportunity for me to just spray my roots directly here, and you can't well not to touch it. Let it dry a little bit, but like look, how it's gone guys, do you ever feel like this when you're doing your own hair, okay, you're, not alone, everybody gets frustrated, doing the hair, you just have to keep trying I'm all about getting your hair done. Really quick, so I know everyone's rushing in the morning, so there you have it, that's how to put in a clip in bang how to do a beachy wave and how to do a half a pop down with an accessory. Alright guys just you know, rules, okay, armed in this video, all right guys. Thank you so much for watching make sure that you like and subscribe. If you want to see any more fun hair tutorials. LoveShop17: pls do a video elaborating on face shapes and cuts to flatter!

Meg Weiss: Also, I’m 8 months pregnant with my second child, and your scalp/body scrub and hail/body oil has been a life-changing blessing for me. If and when my sister or friends get pregnant, they’re all getting a gift of both

Glynis Marthinussen: I needed this... my hair length is mid back and I soooo wanna cut it short but wasn’t sure what styles I could do. Thank you

kuperleona: Pouffy triangle perm - basically me in the early 90’s lol Great video, love your texturising spray but the scent gives me a headache for some reason so I don’t use it too often. None of your other products do, especially love the volume spray and excited to try your new dry shampoo

quadbox: More people need to watch this channel. I am absolutely crap at doing my hair and I learnt so much from this one tutorial. ✨

Miss Bee: Oh my gosh YES! You and your channel is the bestest EVER! Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks, I “think” you could achieve this look also with medium hair and I can wait to try it . The insert of Roo getting her paws wiped is everything . That’s exactly what the struggle is like! PS: Roo is massively adorable

Angela Briseno: Love all these looks Jen , your Chanel is one of my favorite and your Ouai texturizing spray is the best ever ! Love my chi flat iron .... I really hope to purchase the Dyson air wrap one day.

Meg Weiss: Love your videos Jen! I have medium length that I’ve been growing out, and I wish I would have seen this six months ago! Also yes to old Hollywood styles

mrsverovalera: Love your videos. Thank you for all the tips!

Fufu issue: The people should appreciated those kind of videos!!! it is like taking a masterclass for free at your home

Trisha H: Lol Roo my Piper (yorkie) hates getting her paws wiped too, basically come at her with any rag and she’s growling like a lunatic so funny. And back to the topic I need to add the matte pomade to my collection, the texture spray I can’t live without at this point I think it’s my favorite

Cassandra Conkling: This is great! After spending a couple years growing out a full fringe, I’m not ready to cut bangs again but still miss them from time to time. I was actually able to stop in the hair shop’s San Fran location while there for work to color match my red hair and now I have a good idea how to use the bangs properly. Thanks for recommending them in your videos because I wasn’t sure where to look for good faux bangs!

One reason: Loveee this I have the same length hair and same color and I love it but I’m still learning how to do cute fun easy hair styles so more video like this would be awesome love it

londyn white: i have really thin, flat hair and your texturizing hairspray literally changed my life!! It makes my hair looks so full and gives it so much volume <3

Celena Ruiz: Okay so I work at a restaurant as a manager and something I always struggle with is how to do my hair! Because it has to be up and secured I almost always do a braid instead of a bun so my hair looks relatively chic when I take it down after a shift. But this gets so boring. I would love a video on a tutorial for everyday work updos!

Alma Marisol: Hahha was not expecting that intro! Love love love Jen and her sense of humor!

FlipNpattY: Cute I love all these tips. I totally have a Pinterest board of just you Jen. I was so surprised nobody else did before me. Your like my big sis in my head

Lenna: This is by far the most helpful short hair styling tutorial on yt all her techniques are so practical and so easy to understand. this is why i love ouai product so much jen atken really knows her shit

AnDeSa Sisters: Loved this! Thanks, girl!!

Victoria Small: YES TO THE OLD HOLLYWOOD! i would love to see something like that next. I am in the process of growing out a pixie, i am 9mo. in and its at the perfect length for this! TUT please and thank youuuu <3

Monica Ehlermann: Yess to the old Hollywood waves. I so want to do them.

Erica: Thank you for the helpful content Jen! Can you please do a tutorial on Kendall Jenner's signature center part pony??

B F: No, what we need is a real tutorial from a professional on how to create curls and waves using straighteners/flat irons. I find it so difficult to achieve so much as a kink if it’s not a curling wand. This is what we want professionals to teach us to do. Capitalism is making us buy all these specific gadgets for no reason.

Sar: Hello beautiful, can you please do another one for long hair? Thank you:)

Bal Sahota: Omg you make it look so easy.xx

Joeby: I think she looks amazing with the bangs!

My favorite tool is the Remington Wet2Straight. My biggest prob: it takes so much time, and my hair is getting really delicate. I let it mostly dry natural then use the Remington and Babybliss large hot rollers.
