For some reason, i have it in my mind that it's a good idea for me to attempt some diy highlights at home we're gon na find out. If that's a good idea or not by the end of this video but the reason being is, i normally have a fantastic stylist. That does my highlights every three months and i had to miss my last color appointment due to an illness and she is now out on maternity leave till december. The good news is, i have a fill-in stylist who's going to cut my hair next week, but the bad news is, i have nobody to color my hair for the next six weeks, and i am just to that point where i just can't stand it any longer. So just a brief little glimpse here: um, this dark color is my natural color uh. I also have some natural highlights right here, so this part all looks freshly highlighted, but the way that i typically style my hair, i'm getting these kind of like black holes. If you will kind of here on the top and on the side here so my goal for today is just to add a few highlights in a few key areas just to break up some of this darkness. So i'm going to run you through everything that i purchased and the tools and stuff that i'm going to be using and then we're going to get started and see how this turns out. If you're new here be sure you hit that subscribe button. And now let's get started okay, so the main product that i purchased was this amplified flash lightning super strength, bleach kit from manic panic, and it is a volume 40, and this is the volume that my stylist uses on my hair, because my hair is really difficult To lift now there was a little bit of confusion because on the box and on ulta's website it says it includes everything you need the bleach powder, the developer, a brush, the tub to mix it in gloves a cap, and i'm like great then i started reading Reviews - and there were half of the reviewers - that said, no everything wasn't there and others that did so. I went ahead and also, at the same time, purchased this madison reed pro color tool kit, which has a brush a mixing bowl, and these clips the clips. I knew were essential and i thought well, there's a bowl and an extra brush just in case. So when i opened up this box today, the manic panic box - there were only three items in here: they were the this tub with the bleach powder, the developer and this little brush, and so i'm like no gloves no tub all of that. Well then, today i opened up this tub to go ahead and mix the product and the gloves and the cap are inside of here. So just a little side note in case you do this, it does have basically everything you would need. Now i decided not to mix it in this little tub and instead i mixed it in the slightly larger one that came in that other kit. I'M glad that i did because it just feels more sturdy, and it has this lip on here, that you can wipe the brush now. A couple of tips that i watched a video or two online about - and they said one tip - is to not use the same brush for mixing that you do to apply because the brush gets all gloppy and goopy like this, and i'm like. Oh, my goodness, it is true, so i'm glad that i also have this secondary brush. Now this one is bigger and you'll see it doesn't have any weird lip on it like this one does, that seems to gather product. The final thing i purchased was a pack of foils. Now these are super long because i did not want to buy this huge ginormous box of the smaller foils. So i just took these out and cut them in half and i just cut you know some of them in half, so i think i've got about 30 foils or so i hope i don't need that many, but we're just gon na just dig right in here And try now the gloves i'm going to put aside for now, because i'm not planning to kind of apply the bleach with my gloved hand, but if you're going to do that, then you do need to wear gloves otherwise follow all the instructions on the box. I might do things differently than they say, but all right we're going to dive in, i do have a comb that i'm going to use to. You know comb out each piece. I also have some paper towels here on the side and i am wearing one of my old beat up sweatshirts that i don't care if i get bleach on and it's good that it happens to be white. So a couple extra tips there. So the first thing that i know i need to do is i need to section off um, i'm going to start in the back because um i just there's only a few that i need to do back here. But this is the part you can see how dark it is, and so i know this is going to need a lot of extra bleaching time, so i'm going to try to give you the best view as possible, but of course i need to be able to See what i'm doing so? I'Ve got a couple of different mirrors here and then i also have a handheld mirror in case. I really get stuck and can't see what i did is. I just pulled these two side, sections um, just so that i just having the hair in the center to work with and because of my calyx. I kind of have this almost natural kind of flat part right here, so i'm actually going to use that to my advantage and i'm going to just pull this section of hair up and clip it in place as well all right, let's get going! Okay! Now i'm going to take the tip of this brush we're going to start off with this. If it's too big, i might switch to the other one. So i'm going to use this to kind of give myself a starting line here and then we are going to weave that hair out. I have a foil here, i'm going to attempt this. I don't know okay and then i'm going to paint on using my brush. Do do do do so. I'M going to break this up just a little bit here. If we can do one more one, more foil here at the top, you really do need a third hand when you're doing this would be really helpful. All right, i feel, like this formulation is pretty thin and so i'm having troubles um, getting it to really stick to the foil, much um. So we'll just see. I may switch to no foils going forward here. We'Ll see all right, okay, um this side section, knowing how hard the back was to do. I think i'm just going to see - if maybe i can just work in - maybe one foil here, oh dear, this is gon na be interesting. Okay, let's see, maybe i'll try. Two and now i'll move over to the other side and attempt to do the same thing: oh mercy: okay, here's what we've got so far. You can probably get a better view. You can see. Oh i'm losing a foil there. Okay, so um! I lost a bottom foil down here, one or two, so i'm just gon na leave it and now we're going to just work through this front section. I think i'll do the sides last just because uh i'm tiring out, and i want to make sure that i get um some bleach on at least this top section here. So i am going to section out um, i'm gon na go slightly. I think slightly below my part here yeah. Let'S try that and i'm going to clip this hair out of the way. Definitely what i'm finding the hardest part is getting your sections kind of sectioning off the hair and then um working with the foils. So that's definitely a challenge. You could use an extra pair of hands for sure all right. I am going to attempt to work from the back forward. Let'S just see how this is going to work here and then i'm going to attempt to flip this to the back and clip it out of the way all right. Let'S give this a shot here, um and then i am not going to do every you know. Every section, so i'm just going to put some dark hair back with that foil and then go in with another selection. Do i'll do another section, i'm doing kind of some big wide sections in between um, because just again in case this color is not good. Um. I'Ve got a lot of my natural color to help it blend in hopefully - and i am doing kind of probably a little bit thicker strands than my stylus would do. But well you know there's a lot of a lot of things, i'm doing differently here. You can see it's kind of i'm starting to just kind of naturally go at an angle which i had thought about doing and wasn't sure if that would be hard to do. But it's kind of like due to my lack of skills, i'm just naturally going at an angle, so we'll just go with it all right now. This is the section that i feel like i could handle a little more. I might actually need to break this up. Let'S do that? Okay, because i feel like these foils are getting the width of my head. It'S just a little too much. Let'S see i put dark hair there, i'm going to leave the rest of that section. All right, let's go back here! Definitely on this side i feel like i need to keep the pieces just a little bit thinner because um this is usually where i part my hair and so um. I'M gon na hope that we can make this not look too crazy and i can't even see what it's doing there we go. What i've started doing towards the front is pre-folding my foil, getting it ready and then going in with the handle of the brush, because this really does help you get it so much closer to the scalp. Do all right. We need just a couple on the sides here, so this side is easier for me to work on than this side, so i'm going gon na start here. It'S probably the best section. I'Ve ever done, oh dear, the good ones will be hidden. That'S okay! Okay! Here'S! How it looks at the moment um, i am going to just take a look again at the back sections and see if there's anything i can fix. I felt like, as i got forward and kind of got a little more accustomed to things. I was definitely more comfortable, but also what makes it difficult of course in the back. Is you just can't see what you're doing so, i'm gon na let this process um, i'm gon na start with 20 minutes, because i know this back section has been processing for quite a while, but i know that my hair takes a long time, so i'm gon Na just continue to check in and then when i think it's time to rinse out i'll hop back on here. Okay, it's been over an hour and i keep checking about every 10 minutes and you can see these top highlights are looking really good, but i have a couple that i added or just one. I think that i added at the end and that one's still pretty there's still quite a lot of warmth. It'S getting there um, but i know from what my hair stylist has said. You got ta go just a little bit longer on my hair, particularly there's another one over here. I'Ve been checking on. Let'S see trying to do this without removing it from the foil, and you can see, there's still like an orange strip through that one's. Looking pretty good, so i'm going to let it stay on for another 10 minutes and we'll check it again. Okay, another 10 minutes has gone by um. I think i'm going to look that is looking pretty good. Let me just check one more foil. I had a little bit of some bleeding through yeah. You can see that one's pretty yellow. Still, oh, let's see, oh, that one's looking, really nice, okay. Okay, i think what i'm gon na do is hit it with my hair dryer and leave it on for about five more minutes and then we'll rinse it up. Okay, partly impatience, and partly because i don't want to over process and hurt my hair. I think i'm gon na go ahead and just take these out so at this point, at the end, like from the time i finished putting in the foils till now, it's been over an hour and 20 minutes. I did just briefly two times you know hit it with the hair dryer, so normally i'm under the hair dryer for at least 20, if not more minutes, plus the time that it takes her to put the foils in so um, but yeah uh hour and 20 Minutes for my hair, so i'm going to go ahead and pull these out and rinse it and then we'll see how it looks. Okay, i'm liking how some of these are looking, at least in this front section. I need to be careful not to get this in my eyes, because my bangs are so long. That'S a good one. Okay, i have a trash can behind me or trash bag. Behind me put these in okay, those those actually don't look bad um. You know i'm just worried about orange hot spots, so um so far. I think the tone looks really good. Are you all on pins and needles like? I am? Oh, my goodness. This was the one that was kind of taking a while to process um and that one okay. This was one of the last ones, because i went back and added a couple here. Let me pull these back ones out here. Let'S see yeah, these might be a little warm, but we'll see. Actually, oh, it's not too bad all right. So to shampoo my hair, i am going to do the amica buster brass shampoo. I know that this tones, my hair so well. It also makes the hair feel nice and soft i'm going to use the amika buster brass conditioner as well, so i'm going to go ahead and do that and then we'll take a look and see how i did all right. Here'S the moment of truth. All right now, i can definitely see a couple of hot spots here on the scalp, see that um, but let's just see how the rest looks, yeah, probably going to take at least a couple more times with my amica shampoo to kind of tone. A couple of these sections a little better all right, because i can already tell i've - got some hot spots there on the top and i'm not going to wash my hair again, i'm going to go ahead and just add a little bit of the amica supernova blonde. This is the violet moisture and shine cream, so it looks like that and then to that, i'm going to add a little bit of the igk mixed feelings. This is a leave-in toning blonde drops and i've used these a couple of times just randomly, but i think this will be a good test just to see what kind of toning power they have. So those are drops that are meant to be put into your styling products. So let's just oh yeah mercy see some warm spots here. All right, i'm gon na, add a little bit more and then i'm just gon na add a little bit of some root lifting product. I'M not going to fully style my hair um since it's later in the day, but i do want to just give it a good blow dry and see what it looks like. Okay. What do we think um? Actually, once i got it dried and obviously with the help of the toning drops and then the amica shampoo, which i'll probably need to do at least i'll, probably do it two more days in a row um, but actually these hot spots here are not too bad. So you can see right there a little bit of some golden blonde in there um and especially how it's laying right now um the other area i knew i just knew - was going to get a little warm. Is this section right here um, but i feel like the back overall i'll. Let you see right here. I have a couple of more caramely strips of hair, so obviously i didn't get enough bleach on those sections or whatever, but as i'm looking through the overall like right here, i'm really happy with how all of this looks, and oh, my goodness, it just gives my Hair just so much more interest and life, and i love having that brightness there yay okay, can i just tell you now that i truly lost sleep over this last night i tossed and turned, and i had even watched a video and so as i'm tossing and Turning, i was thinking, okay, how am i going to do the foils? What am i going to do about the back so um now, i feel like i can heave a big sigh of relief, so a couple of things that i would do differently if i ever did this again. First of all, as i'm applying as i was applying the bleach, i got it too close to the scalp and because the consistency that i mixed it to, because i followed the directions and did basically the whole bottle of developer and the whole package of powder. It made it a much um, more liquidy consistency, and i remember even my stylist. She mixes it a little more like a frosting consistency, and i would do that next time and i also would not get the the bleach quite as close to the scalp, because that is what caused these kind of hot spots, because it bled through to the hair That was underneath it that was not in a foil um. I also, if you have short hair, you don't need the whole entire product now. This, of course, has been sitting so it's kind of expanding, but i had a ton left over so one package. If you only mixed, you know equal parts like if you did a quarter package of powder and you know a little bit of cream developer, i mean one: one kit could get you by three or four times, depending on how long your hair is. So that's just something to keep in mind. Also the back is just so hard. I mean next to impossible to do so. I know some of you do your own color and kudos to you for being able to do this section. This was so hard. So if i got desperate again and did it, i would probably see if i could coax a friend or neighbor to help me out - maybe get your spouse to do it. My husband's like, oh no, i hate touching that so, but otherwise i think this was um. Overall, a success, as i said, i'm gon na get my hair cut, so i cannot wait to get it cut and then, when i go in december for my color appointment with my regular stylist, we'll have to see what she says about my coloring job. So now one final little tidbit. I thought it would be fun and helpful to add up my cost for today's hair coloring. So my cost between the two kits that i bought and the package of foils um total i paid about twenty four dollars with maybe a little extra for tax. Now this kit, i did get at half price, but normal price is twelve dollars. Keep in mind. If this were something that you were going to be doing on a regular basis, you're not going to have to repurchase the foils you're not going to have to repurchase this kit. So if you get good at doing this, you could do your own color for maybe roughly about six dollars a time if you only used like half of a box per time, so i mean it would save you a lot of money if you're really good at Doing your own hair and you're adventurous, then this might be something you're interested in. As always, i will leave in the description box below links to all the products that i use today, including my shampoo and conditioner, and the styling products. Thank you, as always so much for watching, be sure. You'Re subscribed hit that thumbs up button and i'll see you next time. Bye. You

Alison Bradford: I remember when I had longer hair and I used to try to French braid my hair. I wouldn’t get very far before I was bent over with my elbows on the sink and my head hanging down because my arms and shoulders got so fatigued! This would be out of the question for me . Good on you, Sharalee!

Justina Nelson: You’ve inspired me to venture out and do some diy streaks. Sally’s here I come!

MarieJosee Pitre: As an ex-coloris/technician myself (I don't know how you say that in English, I am French), you did an awesome job for your first time!!

Alicia Bush: I do my own highlights. I tried foiling my hair and made the biggest mess! :). My husband now pulls my hair through a cap, and I use La Petit Frost for darker hair. Maybe I should get my hair foiled at the salon and have him visit with me so he can learn how to foil. hahaha You did a great job, and you are so brave to film it as well. :). I think some nice sturdy clips like those might help me better control my short hair so I could foil. Maybe I will give it another shot.

Teri: Great job! I use a cap to do my highlights, it’s a lot easier and quicker. I’ve had foil highlights done in the past and I don’t like how long it takes to do it.

sheila gilliam: I’m so impressed with ALL YOUR TALENT!

Joan Gentile: You did a great job, Sharalee!! Good for you!! I've been wanting to highlight my own hair for a while now. But, haven't been able to take the leap. Maybe, now I will!! Thank you!! xoxo

Tammy Ritter: I was definitely on pins and needles and holding my breath when you pulled those foils out but you did a great job and your hair looks awesome as usual. ☺

Lori Dupuy: "I watched a video ...or two.....hundred....lol I do my own highlights all the time, except I use a cap. Just watching people attempt foils on their own makes me tired!!! LOL Sharalee you must be feeling so much better!!! I'm glad to see you back at it!

Melissa Laws: I think you did a great job actually!, looks good for a DIY!❤

Elaine Mullins: I am very impressed with your skills! The day 2 hair looked gorgeous, love the makeup look too, GRWM please.

Miriam DeVries: It's official! There is nothing you cannot do! Beautiful job!! ❤

Paula Kay: Great work! I know I wouldn't have done this as well as you did! Years ago I used to pull my hair through a cap using LaPetite Frost kit at Walmart!!

Christa Knell: You did an awesome job! It looks amazing!

Laurie G: As a retired stylist, you did a great job!!!!

Leslie Jeffries: You did a great job it looks beautiful !!

Home with Kelly P: Great job!! You looked like you had done this before. And the end pictures of your hair look like you had it done professionally! ❤

Adriana Salerno: I tried doing highlights when everything was locked down. It was just too hard. I don’t have the patience. You did a great job!

JESSICA VALEK: Great job!! I love your hair!! I just did my hair (also a short pixie) this past weekend too. I used the same product and it took my hair 1.5 hours to lift! Regarding the consistency, the instructions say to mix and then let sit for a bit because it thickens up. One thing I did do which might be helpful, was use the old fashion cap where you pull through hair with the hook ($1.99).

Kathy Phifer: You did a great job! The back “is”really hard! The color looks beautiful and vibrant.

E Clark: Sharalee, you’re AMAZING!!! You did a fabulous job!!

Carole Anderson: You did an amazing job! You're so brave to attempt this on your own, without any help. It was funny that your husband said "no way". I color my hair all the time, but that's way easier than what you did. By the way, your make-up is beautiful. Well done. Take care, my friend!

Alicia Gillaspie: Sharalee! I I think you did an amazing job! It looks great and it will get you through until December when you see Kristen again! She will be impressed! Way to go, Girlfriend!

Crystal J: Just got a short cut again. Thanks for the info. I may give this a try. Love your videos!

Cindy Cox: GOOD FOR YOU you did a fantastic job! Your hair looks super Thank you so much for sharing this video with all of your superfans Sharalee.

Julie Ligon: I think you did a great job! I will choose to watch your process again rather than trying to do my own hair!!! Thanks for being willing to jump in with both feet & show us how to do it!

1950steele: I started highlighting my hair with Frost and Tip thru a cap in 1968. Many years later my daughter in-law (a cosmetologist) purchased the bleach and showed me how to mix it and did my own up till last year when I decided to let it go gray and I love it. Fifty three years is long enough of coloring and bleaching hair.

Teresa Keough: All in all a pretty good job! I would have used a cap. Looks pretty. Happiness, Teresa

J Little: I use to “Frost” lol my hair all the time using the cap. I commend you for trying the foil I couldn’t do it. It looks great it really does, the hot spots will tone

Mimi: Great job!!! I would never have the patience to do that. I’d have foils all over the place except on my head

Sylvia Vandegrift: Kudos to you for doing this on your own. I color my hair but my sweet husband helps with the back and part of the sides I do the halo part as they call it.

Sheryl Ann: You did an amazing job!!

Cindy Pass: You did a great job. My hair always tones itself within a few days.

DIANA PADGETT: Very good! Especially for never doing it before. It’ll be interesting what your regular stylist will say. Your hair looks amazing as usual!!

Bruce Franklin: That was fun to watch Sharalee. I was nervous for you at first, but I remembered other times when your stylist was highlighting your hair and you both talked about your hair being strong and able to handle the high volume bleach. The pictures at the end from 2 days later look really good! Worked out well in the end. Gotta love the Amika products. I won't be trying the at home bleach, but like you, I am getting my hair cut in a couple days and can't wait! Been 8 weeks and feels even longer.

Debbie Huizar: Hi, Sharalee!!!!! Yes, I knew it - your stylist is on maternity leave. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Excited to see how you do

Heidi Cook: It looks wonderful!

Trish Bliss: My arms were hurting watching this Sharalee, but you did a great job. I could never do this, I can barely style the back of my hair . Gosh, your hair grows so fast! You look beautiful, your makeup is lovely. Glad you are feeling well again.

Sharron Wolfe: It looks great, pretty lady! Yes, I understand about the hot spots — but I doubt many will notice it! There’s always a learning curve! The problems you have coloring the back are similar to those I have styling the back of mine because of the problems with my frozen Deltoid muscle due to breaking that shoulder. I have finally ventured into the world of very short hair! It’s not quite a pixie, but it sure is close! And you were right — I love it!!!

Marie: Congrats you did a great job!!!!!

JLE: I think it came out great! Like you said, a few more times with purple shampoo and products will mesh the tone to the rest of your hair. Well done!

Libby Miller: Oh my Gosh, Sharalee!! I think I held my breath MOST of this video!! LOL... I think I've shared with you that I have colored my own hair many times...but, I've NEVER attempted foils!! When you were doing the back, all I could think of was, oh yes, another pair of hands would be great! I have, MANY TIMES, thought, as my arms got weaker and weaker , WHY did I try to do this MYSELF!! But, I got through it, and with the help, yes, of my blow dryer, for heat, I would end up pretty happy with the results! All I can say is, whewwwwwww!! YOU DID IT!! AND, THANK GOODNESS FOR PURPLE SHAMPOO!!!! Take care, my friend!!

Edie Nichols: You are definitely braver than I am! When I was younger I’d use a kit with the cap, it always came out pretty good……. But foils, I don’t know if I would be as patient as you are, I’d probably be in tears!

Jeannette aka Jnett: As a first-timer, you really did do a great job. I've cut and colored my own since I've been 13 yrs old. Do treat myself every once in awhile if my arm is acting up. Thinking about asking my granddaughter to maybe give me a hand this time around. She is a cosmetologist. I've done the clippers, color and all but really at almost 73, I should start treating myself a bit more. Before hubby passed away last August he loved that I'd finally let it go natural after all these years. So, now I'm naturally highlighted. LOL

K Black: If there is a beauty supply store in your area, (we have Sally's here) they have lotion or creme toners for bleached hair. The employees would be able to help you.

Glenda Bliss: I was so concerned you were going to ruin your beautiful hair, but you pulled it off. You are a brave lady and I loved watching you climb out on a limb. (And not falling) LOL. Wondering what trick you will try next. You always make it fun and informative.

Lisa Keener: Excellent job As I've seen others say, you are one brave lady to video yourself doing this! I have a mirror hung from our shower curtain so I can adjust the over the sink mirrors & see the back of my hair A couple of things that may or may not be helpful, a rat tailed comb might be thinner than the highlighting brush to to the weaves, regular aluminum foil works just as good (even the dollar store brand) ~ it takes a little more prep time, but can save some $$!, and I would pre fold several foils ahead. Just thinking of what we do in the salon! I definitely would ask a friend to help out if you have a next time & that could just be a great time!!! You naturally have a way with hair & make up that makes it look easy (I know this particular hair tutorial probably felt very awkward & clumsy)! Thanks again for sharing! Xx

Martha Marshall: You are a brave soul my friend! I have attempted and not done breaks good of a job as you have! I ended up with tweety bird yellow! Scared I was frying my hair. Lol! I think you did great and you can really tell a difference! Looks like you just got a really light bleach job! Blessings to you and yours and so glad you are back and feeling better!

Sydney Landreneau: It looks great!!! You really did a great job!!

Tracy Aulbrook: you did a great job!

Denise Hayhurst: Great job! You’re so cute. I’m a hairdresser and my best advice is not to go over your already bleached hair with lightener. Just feather it a little so you don’t get demarcation. Especially with a 40 volume. Good job though.

Sally Piercy: You did a great job! I have highlighted mine numerous times through the last couple of years. I just buy the Revlon Frost and Glow product for brown hair. I pull it through a cap and it takes about 45-50 minutes for my hair to lift. My natural hair color is similar to yours. I’ve never tried foil because I thought only hair dressers could purchase those products. Do you buy the products online or in a Beauty supply store? I will say that my hair is not as thick as yours so it’s probably easier for me to pull through a cap.

Katie Carlson: Hey! I admire your courage for trying. I love your haircut, wish I had thick hair like you.

Riche' Scarbrough: Oh my gosh! You are so, so brave!! I don't think I would attempt this myself, but I think you did amazingly well! I'd need 6 more arms!!

Janice Millican: Lol! I have been on pins and needles watching you. Your hair turned out very good. I have been wanting to try doing my highlights, but I chicken out every time. Maybe I need liquid courage......a glass of wine or three? Just kidding. Thank you for this video, I loved it.

Stuart Pierce: It looks good. It can be tricky at home. Use to hair year's ago . Didn't like doing color. Every person is different on how results are going to turn out lol. Thanks Sharalee Jennifer

Debbie Huizar: YOU DID A GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!! ⭐️

Susannah J. Bell: My hairdresser would be outraged if I tried this! But possibly not as outraged as my arms! Well done for giving it a go!!

dazee mae: Great job. I do mine myself. If you apply little product to foil first helps hair to stick to it to keep hair on it and foil in place better

Wanda Lowe: Great Job!! Your hair looks so good.. When you were pulling those foils out I was holding my breathe and when you said are y'all on pins and needles? I whew! Breathe girl!! It looks great.. I'm glad it turned out good.

Michele Moore: Good morning! I noticed your silver (natural) highlights in the last video, and thought they looked lovely!

Louise Warren: I think you’ve done amazing job

sue Rettig: It looks great!!!

Terri Laycock: I can't believe you did that! I'm very impressed ! It looks good! Oh my goodness you are brave! Awesome!

Brigitte Greenwood: Pretty good for your first time, my husband pull my hair thru a cap, we use the bleach powder and 40 volume, we usually do it right before I get a cut, so fa so good, we call him Jose, Eber, lol

Pam Buck: You are SO PRECIOUS!! You are much braver than me, but what a great job you did!!!

Cookie Duncan: Omg! You did an awesome job. You are much braver than me.

Peggy Thomas: I just watched your dyi lightening video. Great job!! ❤️

Jackie Brown: You did a very good job! ❤️

Katherine Douglas: Mine would be a disaster but I am looking to having to do myself. We'll see. Thanks for the input. Kathy

Debby Hauck: You can get a mirror you hang a round your neck and can see the back of your hair. Also I got 3 cans of the root boost on eBay very easily.

Curliosity: Hey lady! I think you did a FABULOUS job! You are very brave/adventurous like me. I've colored my natural black hair blonde, strawberry blonde, auburn, red, jet black. Hair is just hair. It'll grow back. If I lived near you I'd definitely volunteer to come by and assist. BTW, I'm Huglori on Instagram. I asked you about whether or not we need to wear red lipstick sometimes. Thanks for always responding.

A C: Really well done!!!.........It´s not easy!! You can really do..everything !

Sue Dubois: I am a hairdresser but I do my own hair and I have a second mirror on the opposite wall that comes out from the wall and you can turn it whatever way you want then I can see the back of my head no problem...2 mirrors make a huge difference when doin your own hair!

Bella_ 17: I was so devastated when I lost my hair after a brain surgery well I had 3 in a year in my entire life I had long hair because it was curly but I had to almost shaved from the middle of the circumference of my head to the neck super close to the scalp and little by little my hair was starting to growing but without shape so I went to superclips or something like that where my husband just to go and I paid $10 dlls so they cut it super short but at least I had a hair cut with the time my hair started to growing again without shape and getting white hair ‍ and my previous color was black so I was feeling so depressed so I decided to watch YouTube of how to color my hair from dark to white and I damaged my hair pretty bad I bleached it like twice in 1 week then another week I used an infusion that we use in Mexico like antiseptics to avoid infections and it’s purple but they are too many brands and just one doesn’t have alcohol and I couldn’t find it so I thought 8% isn’t too much well I burnt my hair pretty bad in 5 to 10 min the alcohol works immediately so I washed my hair right away and the roots were ok but the ends lighter and open ends ‍♀️ so my hair was to fragile that it was falling apart just brushing it so finally I let it rest for 3 days using hair mask, oils etc to repair it ☺️ and I saw another video that you can use food coloring with any hair mask or conditioner and it works perfectly! but I didn’t know that you have to work first in the brassy areas first end then only 5 to 7 min on the lighter hair color so using the color wheel you must choose the opposite color according to your color hair for ejemple my roots were kind of orange and the rest of the ends white so I used to balance the brassy color few drops of blue I think I don’t remember but it works without damaging my hair and the food color stains like a permanent color so I ended up with a silver gray color finally but after a while my husband was getting mad with me because I was treating bad my hair so finally I went to a professional salon and the lady didn’t understand me and she bleached my hair again and she did a pretty sloppy job in some areas super blond other areas brassy ‍♀️ and I paid $200 dlls for that so I decided not anymore I learned my lesson I am dying my hair and the stylist does the cut I showed her your picture of the hair cut ‍♀️ and she does a good job cutting it but for color I will keeping it doing it by myself if I am going to damage my hair at least I am not going to paid for it just a couple of dollars and I will do it ‍♀️

Kaye Carter Mature Woman Daily Dose: I didn’t realize how dark your natural hair is till you started showing us. ❤️You are a brave soul. LOL I’m not sure I’m brave enough to do that to my own hair. I think you did a awesome job. Sending hugs prayers and kindness sweet friend. ❤️

Jojo Jojo1: You are very brave! The result is very beautiful !

Mimi: I actually like the coppery pops of color. It’s interesting and not a bit distracting. Because you’re just so darn cute and real it’s easy to pull off.

Alicia DiCaro: You did a great job you can’t really see the hot spots great job ♥️

Suzie Flowers: As a stylist I get a kick out of these videos

catmama54: You did a fabulous job.You truly have a knack for doing hair. Maybe you were a hair stylist in a former life. lol

Judith Pearson: You are very brave. My arms would be aching. I think a cap would be easier, at least for me!

Ric Calendar: Ms Sharalee I am always in your corner, but as a former stylist and salon owner, it is NEVER a good idea to highlight your own hair. Hot spots can be difficult to correct and proper placement is much harder to accomplish on yourself. I always cringed when someone tried at home to do what took me years and alot of advanced training to accomplish. However, you get an A+ for effort and your hair is lovely as always!

Diana Woods: you had more nerve than I would. My arms would had gotten tired keeping them up in the air for so long. My husband use to help me color my hair. I didn't use bleach though. My daughter is a hairdresser. During the pandemic I let my hair grow out and I let it go grey. NO!!!! I went and had her color it again when we were allowed to go back to the salons. I didn't take advantage of her being my daughter and doing my hair when she wasn't allowed. But in all, I think your hair turned out pretty good.

Deborah Richardville: Looks very good for an armature job.

Salt & Light💡: Girl; you are ambitious! Especially bc you like a bright blonde and your hair is so dark! My biggest concern for you was that you might pull them out to quick and it be orange.

Mary Tippett: I give you credit for trying good job it really looks good.

Suzie Flowers: Next time if you do it mix 2 different mixes bleach stops working after about 45 min that’s why we use differs volumes so we mix diffent batches , and get a Demi permanent color to put on your high list , you have very short , cute hair cut ❤️but most people would need most of it you did very few foils , I’ll be interred to see what your stylist does to correct the gold spots when she returns ❤️but over all not to bad a job good thing you have strong hair some people would have melted hair after 1 hour plus and root to end application , but not a bad outcome

Mayrene Powell: Sharalee , I’m curious, does your stylist watch you ? You did a good job

Terri Riggle: I can feel yr pain about hair cuts….I don’t know about you, but I have always had short short hair and had to have a cut every 4 weeks. By the third week, it was usually to the point where it got difficult to style! I also have very thick hair and it is straight as a ruler. It just lays up there on my head being all flat….ack!! You are brave. I think the color came out okay. When you were struggling with the back, I immediately thought, “doesn’t she have a friend to help her?” I used to frost my friend’s hair all the time. It was fun! Love yr videos, girl!!

Maria Navarro Nuñez: Muy lindo, hermoso

Judith Pearson: Looks great

linda Blauw: You look amazing.

Beth Willard: Great job
