My name is Jaila, also known as JaiChanellie on the internet. I create beauty-related content on a budget for my college students, recent graduates, and anyone else new to this whole “adulting” thing. I’m figuring it out and trying to be cute while doing it. I hope you can relate and enjoy!

When would you ever realistically walk around with your hair like that Chill on that. Relax., I just -- Hola Chanellies, Welcome back to my channel. Welcome to my channel if you've never been before., My name is Jaila, also known as JaiChanellie on the internet., So that is Where you can find and follow me., Let's talk .... We got to do it., It's uncomfortable for you and for me, but we got ta have the conversation. Okay. There are some natural hair trends that we are ditching in 2020.. Leave it behind you., The very first one is the most important one for me and it's not just a 2019 trend.. It'S been happening, a lot., Stop tagging your content as 4c. When you do not have 4c hair., You got ta, stop doing it like stop.. It'S so incredibly annoying to those people who do have 4c hair.. They want to click on the 4c hashtag and see people like them, so they can have realistic expectations of what their hair is. Gon na do., It's annoying to see people with 3c 3b 4a hair in the 4c hashtag.. Why are y'all doing it? We know why you're doing it, because you want those clicks.. They don't want to see you. I don't want to see you under the 4c hashtag. If you don't have 4c hair. Stop going it. Period. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, so an actual trend that happened in 2019 that we are ditching in 2020 is confusing passion twist with spring twist.. Now I was confused at first when I was looking up passion twist versus spring twist, because people were conflating the two and using them as synonymous terms, and they are not.. So passion twist is a term that was actually coined by Kailyn. I believe.. I will leave her Instagram handle and everything on the screen.. She is the person that came up with the passion twist.. She really popularized it, especially on YouTube., Especially in the natural hair community for 2019 and years to come.. Okay, because she's made her mark.. Those are completely different from spring twist, which is what you use the springy hair for right. So spring twists have been around for ages.. They are the ones that you use the super coily hair for., It's springy, hence the name spring twist.. The passion twists are passionate.. They'Re free-flowing. They're carefree. They're everything that you would think of boho chic and that is Kailyn's brand essentially.. So I would like for us to stop confusing the two so that, when people type into their search bar `` spring twist'', They don't get passion twist videos.. The next trend that we got ta ditch in 2020. I am guilty of ..., I am. I did it.. I wish I didn't, do it ... and it is the wet look on natural hair. Yeah. We got ta stop doing it.. So if you're not familiar with the wet look, it's basically when people slap a whole bunch of gel in their hair and somehow someway they get it to slip back and it basically looks Llke. You just came out of a pool.. When would you ever realistically walk around with your hair, like that, Like I get it for aesthetics, I get it for a photo shoot, but like real life, everyday. We're not walking around with a whole bunch of gel slicking, our hair back and walking like we just Came out of a pool., It's ridiculous luv.. I think we should leave it in 2019.. I don't think we need to see it anymore. In 2020. We got the point., It can work on different hair textures.. We got it., We understand., Let's leave alone.. Let'S talk about some products that we got ta leave in 2019.. We cannot bring these products into 2020 and you know what I'm about to say is that Style Factor edge edge booster because it does not work for me.. Some of y'all swear by the Style Factor edge booster and I'm so happy that it works for you y'all, like I'm, genuinely Ecstatic that it works for you.. It does not work for me at all. And I did do a review of the Style Factor edge booster. I will leave that review linked above so y'all can see, I'm not lying to y'all.. It lasted me for a good 20 minutes.. If that., I would like to leave it in 2019 and I'm going to ditch it in 2020. Okay.. The next product/ line, I'm kind of debating.. I just --. Let'S talk about Pattern Beauty.. So if you don't know Pattern, Beauty is Tracee Ellis Ross', hair company, and It was really really big on YouTube. When it came out., It came out sometime last year. I want to say in the fall of last year, 2019 and Lots of people did reviews. Lots of people loved it.. Let me put this out here. I follow them on Instagram, especially on my hair page.. I love the content that they produce.. I just have not yet purchased from Pattern. Beauty. Part of it is because I'm a skeptic at heart and when everybody jumps on something I'm just like ugh., There was nothing that grabbed me about the company.. I did love the packaging. I did love the marketing, but nothing like really really grabbed me and told me like ``. This is going to work for you.'', I'm not telling you to leave it alone, and it's definitely something that we can bring into 2020.. I'M not opposed to trying Pattern Beauty in 2020.. If you want to see me, do a Pattern, Beauty review, Let me know in the comment section below and I will get to that. Next up um for my protective style, girls. You know I'm a protective style girl and I think one protective style that we just got ta ditch in 2020 are the overly done goddess anything's. So goddess, locs, goddess braids, goddess twists, goddess whatever., It's cute., Don't get me wrong.. I also have succumbed subscribed to the idea of the goddess loc, the goddess braid.. I just think all that extra Freetress hair that y'all be having in ya head without anything attached to it. I think that's a little unnecessary., You know like when people be doing the tutorials and they'll braid the braid down a little bit and they'll, take the Freetress hair out and leave it sticking out of the braid and then they'll be crocheting extra goddess hair at the End., So I was just like half of your hair is just like Freetress hair.. I don't really see the point of that.. I get it like aesthetically pleasing Again I get it for a photoshoot. I'd, get it for a YouTube video but like in real life. Why are we walking around with just Freetress in our hair sticking out of our braids? I just feel like we did too much of it in 2019, so maybe we don't need to do enough of it in 2020, like ... Chill on that. Relax.. Maybe we need to find some different brands of water wave hair because I feel, like All the videos that I watched, Freetress hair got really natty and really tangly and they had to cut out that extra hair anyways.. So maybe we just need to find a new brand of hair to use, but [ whispers ], it's my opinion.. Now, let's get a little more serious. One natural hair trend I want to ditch in 2020. Is the idea of hair typing without considering the holistic health of the hair.? What do I mean by that? So we know that in the natural hair world We have a hair typing chart which ranges from type 2 which are wavy, hair type 3's, Which are curly, hair and type 4 coily or kinky hair textures.. I want us to stop hair typing people without considering the rest of the factors. For example, hair porosity., Which is a super duper important factor when you're trying to recommend products to people.. You need to know whether they have low porosity hair, Which means that their cuticles are densely packed and it's hard to get product in there., It's hard to get water in there. Versus whether they're high porosity.. It'S very easy for their hair to get wet.. But it's also very easy for them to lose moisture or to not retain moisture.. I think those things are way more important than actually hair typing people and we sometimes get hair type obsessed.. I don't want us to limit ourselves in our growth by just having the hair typing conversation and no other conversations.. We have to have more conversations in 2020., Speaking of hair typing ..., I'm sick and tired of seeing type 3 girls comb their hair and detangle their hair in the shower.. We have to talk about the glorification of type 3 hair in our natural hair community and how many people say: ``. Oh your hair can look like this. If you have just moisturized.'', No, it can't. No, it can't Moisturizing. Your hair will absolutely make your curls pop, because the moisture is basically saying my hair is healthy., But what we're not gon na do is get in the shower. With our 3b hair, our 3c hair and saying this product made my hair look like this.. I just think there needs to be a lot more conversation and a lot more disclaimers. A lot more information given when we post these `` hair, porn'' videos of type 3 girls or loose natural hair girls combing their hair, brushing their hair detangling their hair and fawning over the results. Yeah, I'm just I'm just sick of seeing it. Siss. I am. I can't even front I can't even lie. I'm sick of seeing it., So the last natural hair trend that I want to ditch in 2020 is the obsession over shrinkage and Again this is something that I've fallen prey too.. We are very obsessed with the idea of shrinkage, stealing or taking away our length, and I actually saw a tweet about this the other day. If I can find it, I will post it on the screen and it just talked about How the in the natural hair community we refer to our stretched length as our true length, rather than referring to our shrunken length as our true length. Shrinkage does not steal. My lengtb, because that's what natural hair does. It shrinks., Some people have more shrinkage than others.. It'S completely ok., But I do think the `` shrinkage is real'' comments and the ``. I hate shrinkage'' comments and things of that nature really do lead to us. Saying like we're length obsessed., We don't have to be length obsessed.. We just have to be healthy, hair obsessed.. Let me know how you feel about all these natural hair trends that we're ditching in 2020. In the comment section below., I'm okay, If you don't agree with my position, I would love to hear your thoughts.. That'S all I have for you today.. Thank you so much for watching this video.. JaiChanellie: Which natural hair trend are we throwing out first???

Ty Davis: That first statement ..... THANKYOUGIRL I can’t count how many time I’ve gone to a natural hair video because I thought it was a 4C tutorial only to see loose, soft curls.

Gift Amethyst: You are preaching! I especially agree on the hair typing obsession and shrinkage obsession and the 4C click bait. I especially hate it when people hate on real 4C hair... like, what? If we're going to love natural hair we should love all types.

layshax: I feel personally attacked by the shrinkage one. Accepting shrinkage is a journey in itself.

Moony Iliyassou: The way people confused passion twist and spring twist I remember when the passion twist first came out, finding videos on how to do passion twist was very difficult because people were confusing the 2. Also, some people were so condescending towards the creator saying she didn't invent anything because they are spring twists and she just changed the name and I was like??? y'all obviously didn't watch her video(s) because they are obviously not the same.

Lajoy Willis: Makeup and hair on point

Frances Newlin: Yes. I would love for you to do a pattern beauty natural hair review.

Latisa Wooten: I love your hair and makeup!!! ❤️

Ashley Williams: I just came here to hear you talk shit ☺️ and I am satisfied & pleased. “It’s ridiculous, love”

TheCeCe Show: “She is bomb”is a really good edge control

Andrea Ostwald: To add to my first question my hair is very fairy sauce I don’t relax my hair anything have a relaxing for years don’t have to it is very very fine and soft so if you could help me get my natural pattern back I would appreciate it

Jacqueline S: "NO IT CAN'T" NO IT CAN'T!!!!!

Vanessa Thomas: This is Now 2021: WHY do Only Black Women need "protective styles"??? "Protective Styling" needs to GO! Keep your Hair CLEAN, the scalp needs to be Moisturize, and use products lightly to keep the hair from being weighed down. I kept my hair Natural from 2008 until 2020. Relaxers make my hair fallout, Press & Curls no longer "take" to my hair anymore. Braiders ("Home" Braiders and Professional) snatch my edges...so now, I wear a Curly Perm/Jherri Curl: Hawaiian Silky. I just have to make sure that my ends are clipped regularly and not over-process my hair(retouching too soon). But, I need something different and not complicated.

Andrea Ostwald: How do you get your natural hair to come back to its natural state after hot curling it for such a long time? I have short a shortcut and I normally will wear it curly on the weekend or during warmer months however since I’ve been hot curling my hair now I can’t get my natural curl to come back how what I fix that

Sue-Lin Toussaint: Yaaaas! I agreed with a lot!

Regina Mark: Im here for your dog... lowkey was your costar

Dagmar Black: Ppl need to jump off the porosity so hard cause that’s their excuse for calling 3c 4a hair 4c. Anytime you point out that they don’t have 4c hair...” I just have highporosity”. I tell them to stop watching YouTube videos because porosity deals with product saturation and the like, not the actual type of hair you have.

Shay Sitney: Period!

Asia Cunningham: What is your hairstyle called?

Amber Juanita: So you snapped

Jilly Fuller: #SIMBAHIVE back again

SAWLIFE: What’s tea sis

Glamazon1026: Hey Simba!!!

Queenie: Beautiful lady why are you wearing so much makeup tone it down you really don't need it. Please do not take my message negative you need to protect your young skin. XXXX I will subscribe to your channel because your message is positive. Leave that look to a mature woman ok Bless
