Okay, we are about to do a full transformation on my client here who she is relaxed, but she has decided that she wants to get a full hair, color and a relaxer y'all y'all know your girl loves the color, so we're gon na do all of this. Today, you guys know I love to cut so we're going to do all of that too um and you guys get to come along for the journey. So you know it's a work with me kind of day in the salon. Okay, now it got really hot. Really quick if it worked with me kind of day in the salon, so you guys get to ask whatever questions you have all of that good stuff. While we are working. So what I'm gon na do is I'm going to start with her haircut first um and then we are going to do her color service. Now this is a permanent color service. She decided that she wants to get to like an Auburn kind of color and then for this to work, though, I'm going to kind of talk, you guys through the procedure of a client who has a relaxer who does requests um higher, lift colors. Now you guys know for me: whenever you guys hear me talk about hair color, it is a luxury service. Okay, so color is a luxury service. The reason why I call it a luxury service is because it requires luxury care. If you have a Mercedes, you cannot treat it like a little baby Toyota with a two-door with a little gas cap and a color. You cannot treat it like. Like the Toyota, you know. If you have a Lamborghini, you cannot treat it like a Dodge. You have to treat it like a Lamborghini right, so hair color is the same way and I like to use those analogies because a lot of times we think that hair color is just oh yeah, I'm just going to change my color. No, that's not how it works. Hair color requires a lot of care and you have to be willing to take good care of it. Okay, I've had hair color plenty of times I've burnt my hair off as well, and I'm a licensed cosmetologist. So that tells you a lot okay - and I did my absolute best to take care of my hair, but sometimes you can make mistakes too, all right chin down for me, so I'm going to use my clippers just to take off all of this excess hair. On the sides here, um actually for her hairline here, I'm gon na leave a little bit more hair, just in case for her nape. And this part we have no troubles. So I'm just gon na leave out some of her hairline and then we will cut that down after the fact to ensure that we have coverage and excuse me that she is able to um I'm at work Mom at work. I'Ll call you in a little while, okay, okay, oh you're, gon na, do some um moderation for me. Thank you. So her sides and back are going to be very short, and the way this plan is going to work is basically, even though I know she is getting a color. The color will work a lot better because her hair, of course, is short on the sides and the back. I'M sorry! If it's not do you not want to work with me today? I think I got to get another pair of Clippers and I'm praying that I don't um. But the good thing is whenever it's time for her to retouch her sides, because you guys know we do have to um relax the sides of our head a lot more than we would do our our top as it grows out. We can cut it down, relax it without worrying that her hair will break off and then we're able to continue retouching that area with color or relaxer, because it rolls out so quickly for the crown area. We do not relax it as much even in that area. We don't have to worry either because by time the color grows out, it will be time for a retouch and then she'll be able to retouch her color. So the plan actually works. It actually works, but you still want to make sure that you are following through when it comes on to understanding that hair color is not something that you play with. It is something that you have to take very, very serious and when I say very, very serious, meaning the care of your hair, so your hair care has to be on point now. If you want to ensure that you have a head full of healthy hair foreign. So I'm gon na take my comb and I'm gon na cut down some of the top, because it's not going to be that long. Okay and the reason why I'm cutting it down now is because I know once I put the color on the ends that I'm split, because she does have split ends that color is going to kind of eat. Those ends up so instead of me running the risk of having to cut down too much, I'm just cutting off the split ends now, and I know that she's going to be shorter, so I'm just kind of giving a preliminary cut before we get like into the Full-On process, what I'm also going to do is I'm going to use a what we call coconut oil lightener and that lightener is a lot gentler than your standard lightener. It is a coconut oil base lightener, So It Coats the hair before it actually starts the lightening process and I'm going to use a very low level developer. So we've talked about me: um, I'm not going to take her super high in the first sitting. We'Re going to see where I can bring her with a very low level developer and then, as time goes by, we can get her lighter and lighter and lighter, and that is a safer way of introducing you to color, but not giving you more than your hair. It took me a while to get it because it's something that you have to get from a distributor and my distributor was nowhere to be found and it was also out of stock for months. So I finally got this relaxer. You guys know. I don't really do a whole bunch of relaxer talk, I'm comfortable with you guys, knowing the company that I use, but I can't give you everything: okay, all right, anything going on. Yes, that's it! Low porosity hair requires more moisture. You know what I find is wrong with that you should not be using relaxer at home. That'S where I I don't agree. I am a stickler for a relaxer should be done by a professional that understands relaxing. Let me say that okay, so I believe that rock relaxers and hair colors, specifically permanent colors, should be done by a professional that understands what they're doing, because not every stylist is a stylist right, but at the same time I'm not a fan of box relaxers either And I my biggest problem is when you're doing your application, you're not doing your application, the way that it really should be done. So you run the risk of over processing or under processing, not all the time, but most of the time Kimberly for dry scalp. You can use the soothe and balance and then you can cocktail that with the moist repair. Okay, so you can use our soothing balance, pre-treatment and shampoo and you can cocktail that with moist repair, so that'll counteract the dryness, but it'll also help with the itchy scalp. It has zinc in it, so it's great for those clients who have any autoimmune issues that kind of thing all of our products are intermixable, so you can cocktail with almost all of our products, excluding the protein treatment. I can't understand this is washing your hair. Every seven days too much yes, the only time there's an exception to washing your hair, so often is. If you work out, if you do not work out more than two to three days a week, then your hair should not be washed every seven days. It should be every 10 to 14. that can also make the hair very dry. The color brush and the relaxer brush are the same, but I use spatulas. This is what you this is the spatula you guys. It doesn't do anything because it kind of it's a silicone. So it just kind of molds or manipulates with the actual scalp, and you don't have those brushed brush bristles. Attaching the scalp and causing more aggravation. My hair is AED a lot I mentioned in the end, so her hair is drier right. Her hair is gray mixed with darker hair and it's very dry, so salt and pepper here has its own texture. It being dry is a very common thing, especially if you are in a more drier climate um. You can do our repair me Illuminating mask that will kind of help um. One of your biggest issues, though, is going to be lackluster with salt and pepper hair. It typically does not have a great shine to it, but you can also use the violet colored shampoo and that will help to bring some luster to your hair and also diminish any yellowing that you have in your gray on the Violet Bay. I mean the only preconditioning treatment that I would say to do before a wash is a hot oil treatment and at that point that has become your treatment for the day. So preconditioning treatments are not really necessary because remember the hair is not going to absorb. The only thing that is going to absorb, of course is that how all treatment - hence the word hot oil treatment, because you're opening the cuticle. So I just wait until you do your regular wash day and at the conditioning phase, do your hair treatment endless that hyper, so I enjoy swimming, but they didn't have sleep during your work with me day. You just have to moisturize a little bit more, it's like for me. I have high porosity hair. So moisture is not really a big issue, but at the same time high porosity, hair um. It can be an issue with moisture because it's so weak in strength, so sometimes it's not that you're dehydrated, your hair is so weak. It can't retain anything and that comes with high ferocity too um. You can cocktail the moist repair and a little bit of the empress collection or, if you don't want to have the cocktail that you can use on hair repair and restore shampoo and conditioner. That has an equal balance of moisture and strength all right. So my client is processing with her relaxer, so for the relaxer that you guys, you have to use this particular shampoo and then the normalizer you're going to use not normalizing um the conditioner you're going to use this one so with the relaxing condition. First. So after you thoroughly rinse her hair for the relaxer you're going to put this on, it's really thick, so you have to actually leave it up and then you'll put it on her hair for about two to three minutes. But a relaxer has to be thoroughly rinsed. Once you put this on for two to three minutes, you should stay in the bowl and then you'll rinse, the conditioner, and that is when you're going to go twice. That'S what I was going to ask for a watch. I mean your condition and put your dreams. Are like sit on her hair after you rub it on, because it's real cool, it's slimy, so once you put it on her hair, it makes it a different hairline really well, except for two people stay at the ball, then you'll raise that warm water. All of us in warm water, the normalizer to trainers paper, you can sit at the shampoo board all right. Let me make this cold for you, guys, foreign you're, doing a relaxer and color the same day. You got ta, remember yes, she's a relaxer, client, um and mainly I don't always do color and relaxer on the same day. But this is a client who has been here a very long time and she knows she knows her home is always here. So I don't have to worry um, so she wants a high lift color. It'S been years just know it's been used, so this coconut oil based lightener is a lot. It'S a very gentle lightener. It is also one of those lighteners that is very complicated to extract from the hair because it is coconut oil based, but I know how to extract it, which is exactly what I was explaining yesterday um. So what I'm going to do is a very low lift, lightening service and when you guys hear me, say the words low, lift, um and low developer, that means that I'm using a very low developer, the lowest developer you can get is zero, but zero still has About 0.0, something percentage, um of processing or solution um for her I'm going to use a 10 volume okay. So what I'm going to do is a 10 volume and I'm going to cocktail it with a zero lift, because I'm going to lessen the even the strength of the 10 volume um. So I'll show you guys what I mean 45, all right. So my lightener is in the bowl here I always measure with a bowl. Okay, I'm very very funny when it comes on to hair color, I like to use my bowl. So this is a 10 volume. I'M not really going to give you guys idea about about quantity um, because that really doesn't matter. I did too much. I don't need that much foreign color company has what we call zero list and the reason why I'm doing it this way is because she's, fully relaxed and very porous, of course, meaning the hair is, is like high porosity, very high okay. So, even when you're mixing this, because it is a coconut oil based lightener, it doesn't mix as well. So it's always good to use a little um whisk, which you're supposed to use plastic whenever you're mixing any type of developer with color. This is a silicone whisk. Rather than using a metal or stainless steel whisk, this actually speeds up the processing and it starts the oxygen oxidation a little too fast. So that's another reason why they said we're not supposed to use stainless steel when we're mixing our colors, but everybody does some people do some people, don't I'm just learning over time what these things do to the hair? Okay, so I have my lightener mixed up. You guys can tell I have a very small amount. You see how thick it is. This lightener is very thick all right, so you can sit in my chair and then these this one can go up here and if I think they both can fit up there. Now, yes, yes, please there you go, I think you put it in the laundry there. You can just rinse it out and use it with those you can rent them out and then just kind of. It could also be a semi-permanent color and irritate the scalp, but it does not give you scabs like a relaxer relaxer scab lightener doesn't now. If you have a client who's super sensitive, you can also put sweet and low in that lightener, which is the old school way of doing it, and it actually stops the burn okay. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to start on her ends up here in the front, because that is not her scalp area and the ends can get nice and Light okay. Now, when you are coloring freshly relaxed hair, this process goes very quickly. It can go super quick, so that's why I'm doing her ends. It'S the shortest one, no short black bottle with a silver coat yep. That'S the protein, so you'll put that on and then she'll go under the dryer. No cap go ahead and go to the shampoo all right. You guys see how her hair is changing, color really fast. That is how relaxer and color work s um. The short hair is going to lighten faster than anything else. How you feeling you? Okay, it's it's going to get hot yeah it'll subside, though it's subsidized and that's another reason why I did put it on her ends. First, because, honestly, if your ends are colored, then I can make this color work. If you're only your roots are colored, I cannot make that work all right. So I'm just making sure that I finish putting the lightener on so you're gon na have to move real, quick with that wash er. No, her Lightner can't stay on. Oh no! No! No! No, no, no! No! Okay! Okay, so when you're doing Lightner Services, you guys there's areas that I assume that I put lightener and then, when I part her hair, there is none. Okay. So that's also a thing when you're doing lightning Services you want to make sure that you color and cover everything, especially right here on the sideburns here. That'S the part that we all forget and then all of a sudden, your client has dark sideburns. And you don't remember, why see? Look at that, you see that big black patch and the reason why it processes so fast is because the hair is super porous. You just did a chemical service scratch hard, you can use the scalp agitator too. That works. It works on everybody yeah, you just put it to the root level and just any kind of emotional kind of just stay in One Direction, but it doesn't tangle the hair, okay, okay, no, it feels really good like it takes away all itch without you working so Hard with your own finger all right, so I think all of her hair is covered. I don't see any dark patches anywhere um, no Grays, nope, no grays! I see some Darkness back here, so I'm gon na use this last little bit that I have you guys see how fast her hair lightened. That'S what happens hungry with water, though it looks like it's really hard. Oh, it is lightning fast. Oh, very quick! This moves super quick now, I'm trying to just lift her hair up, because some of her ends are slightly dark, but that's fine. It just gives her a nice contrast, but you don't want to over lift okay. You do not want to overlift, because what would end up happening is the lighter the hair gets while it's relaxed the more shedding you have, because the relaxed hair can't really support being super light. So that's another reason why um, I use a very low level. I probably could have even used a zero lift and still got her to here, because she had just gotten a relaxer all right, so we're gon na. Let that sit for just a moment and then we're going to shampoo her. I will actually I'm going to do her shampoo, so I'm gon na show you how to do it. Okay, because this one is um, it's got this magic tactic that you got to do with her hair to get it out. So I'll show you how to get it out so then going forward you'll always want to get it up. So go ahead and squirt it on her hair, not her scalp, but you want to hold her hair up like that and start start it here. So come from right right here: yep squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt. Okay, stop use both hands now and rub her here and rub it all over because it starts to foam and then that's how you distribute it all over her head and then once you do that now, then you can take a little bit in your hand. Rub it together and then put it on her hairline all the way to the nape yep and then you'll put her under the dryer just like that she's good. Now you can rub it in some more, but we're gon na we're gon na have to shampoo here. So go ahead and put it over there. You got your you got ta rub over there, okay, so we are going to hello Mary. This lightener, the water, has to be ice cold, so the coldest that we can get it okay, once you rinse it with cold water, it's not the most comfortable for the clients, but this is how you get oil-based lighteners out. Well, it's based on how far you're trying to go with the lightning. I don't want to bring her too long because she's relaxed, so I can go all the way to platinum. If I wanted to but um darker and lighter the lighter yet and then the more pores her hair gets and because she's relaxed, you can't really run the risk of all of that that hair getting super forced because it shuts off. So I'm going to show you guys what we're gon na do before we even do her color service in regards to depositing a darker color to her hair. Okay, so we rinse off all of the lightener super important. Now. What I'm going to do is take the moist repair shampoo, oh yeah, shampoo, okay, so this is the moist repair shampoo, I'm gon na give her one shampoo, you're gon na notice that it will not sud you guys. She has oil on her hair and her hair is wet so really and truly this is one of the hardest lighteners to get out because it's oil-based, so it coated her hair. It'S not going to suck because she has oil, it's oil-based lightener, so she has oil on her hair. So this is just what we're going to use to help extract some of the oil. It'S not going to take it all out, but it's still protecting her hair.
