Instructions:
STEP 1: YOUR HAIR SHOULD BE CLEAN:
Before you apply the hair dye to your hair, your hair should be clean and oil free. This way the henna will stay longer in your hair and the color would develop more properly, otherwise, if your hair would be dirty the henna molecules will not make the proper bond with the natural hair oil and color will fade away within a week.
STEP 2: MIX THE HENNA:
The quantity of the henna powder you need depends on your hair length. If you have the shoulder length hair with the normal density, you can use one pack of 100 grams. For the medium length hair, you can use one and a half pack of 100 grams and for hip length hair, you may use 250 grams of the henna. But it also depends on your hair texture. Like if you have the curly hair with shoulder length you may require 150 to 200 grams of the henna. Well, this quantity is usually mentioned at the back of the pack as well. Short Hair & Half Beard-1/3 (4.5 tbsp)
Shoulder Length & Full Beard-2/3 (8tbsp)
Mid Back-Full Pack
Hip Length-1&1/2 pack
Mustache -1/4 (3tbsp)
For mixing the henna, take a bowl and add the henna powder into it. Add warm water into the powder gradually. Stir the mixture thoroughly with the spoon; the mixture should be as thick and homogeneous as the cake batter because applying the thick layer is important for the desired results. Cover the henna mixture with the plastic wrap and leave it out for 8-10 hours.
STEP 3: WEAR OLD /UNWANTED SHIRT:
Before the application of the henna on hair don't forget to wear some old shirt. The henna that may accidentally apply to clothes can stain them permanently. Also, take care of the surrounding shelves, curtain, and carpets.
STEP 4: BRUSH YOUR HAIR AND MAKE THE PARTITIONS:
Brush your hair and make them tangle free. Divide your hair into 4 sections and tie 3, leaving one down to color first. This section should be along with your hairline.
STEP 5: APPLY VASELINE AND WEAR GLOVES:
Apply the Petroleum Jelly or Vaseline on the hairline and wear the gloves.
STEP 6: APPLY THE ORANGE RED HENNA MIXTURE ON HAIR:
When everything above is done take the mixture and uncover it. Stir it once again and start applying with the help of the coloring brush. Start from the section you left untied. Divide this section into further small sections. Apply the thick coat of henna on the hair. Apply the color from ends to the tips of the roots. Each small section should be next to the section previously done. Complete this procedure of application; it will take not more than 20 to 25 minutes once you are in practice.
STEP 7: WRAP YOUR HAIR:
After the thorough application, wrap your hair with the saran wrap. This helps in the better development of the color. Wear a shower cap over it if you want, otherwise, it is not necessary.
STEP 8: SET THE STOP-WATCH:
Set the stop watch for 2-3 hours for Henna & 1-2 hours for hair treatment or conditioners, and make yourself busy in some work, till the henna communicates the HENNA color to your hair. STEP 9: WASH YOUR HAIR:
When the alarm goes off, it's the time to hit the shower. Use the normal water to rinse your hair. Put your hair under shower to wash the henna away from the hair. Do not use the shampoo but you can use conditioner to help you out while rinsing. The henna color will continue to darken for 2 to 3 days. Use shampoo after 48 hours of rinsing.

Henna orange red will be closer to a natural red color, depending on what your current color is. So, let's jump right into the mixing of henna. The henna will need to be a smooth cake batter like consistency for application, while we're stirring. Let'S talk about what can be added to your henna mixture, you can add in a few drops of lavender essential oil lavender will help to create a pleasant aroma and help to enhance the color when mixing the henna. You can also add in a conditioning hair mask depending on what you are experiencing with your hair. There can be several combinations that can be customized. You can find essential oils and different conditioning hair masks on our website www.thehenneguys.com. So after several minutes of stirring, your henna should look very similar to this. You can see it has a smooth, batter-like texture. Once your henna has the correct consistency, you will need to let it complete the full die release process for orange red. That period is eight to ten hours. If you would like, you can mix the henna the night before you would like to dye your hair just make sure that you cover it completely, so it doesn't dry out after eight to ten hours, uncover the henna and stir it after sitting. For that long period of time it will have oxidized, so stirring is important. The henna is now ready for application. Make sure that your hair is clean and dry part your hair into sections and when applying start from the roots of your hair and work. Your way down to the ends be sure that you fully coat each strand of hair. Any hair mist will not be dyed properly. After all of your hair is covered in henna. You will need to let it set for about three hours cover your hair with either plastic wrap or the provided shower cap. You can place a dry towel over the shower cap. This will help to trap in the heat which will make it easier for the henna to soak into the hair follicles. After three hours, you can rinse out the henna using cool water start from the ends working up to the roots. nonya bizness: What is the difference between "Orange Red" henna and your "Natural Red" henna. They say they're different colors on your website but the both also say the only ingredient is 100% henna. I watched both videos on how to prepare both of these hennas and they're the exact same process. You use coffee in both. What makes one a different color from another? Is it a lie that it's only henna in one of the packages or is it a lie that they're different colors? Please clarify this
Kyara Forte: Love the video, if you have course hair, my curl pattern is 3c to 3b, would it be damaging to leave ot sitting for longer both in the bowl and on my head under the cap? Or would it just increase the likelihood I come out with a more vibrant color. Also which teas do you suggest for a more copper orange hue? Or anytime of natural additive for example roose petals to some type of root.
Goldie Hoffman: Hey, curious what type of henna do you use for the colors? say like the 'natural red' and the 'orange red' and the 'pure henna package'...they all say the same ingredient but I'm curious if they're the same TYPE of lawsonia ...Been using and loving your products for a year now but now reading a lot more about how there's types with diff. concentrations which create more/less vibrant reds or types of reds/orange/darker too etc. -- for ex 'red raj' henna from another company says it's the highest concentration lawsonia like 3.something percent. there's also 'yemeni henna', jamila, etc. So yeah, what type do you Henna Guys use for the 'natural red' vs. 'orange red' and the 'pure henna powder'? (ie are they all the same type and just diff. heating processes as you answered Nonya below or both?)
