STRAND TEST

Testing the colour on a stand to avoid a Surprise

It is a Good to do a Stand test to see what the colour will be before applying it all over your hair.

Preparing the henna paste for shoulder length hair use more for longer hair.

Please Use only plastic, porcelain or glass container When Mixing NO METAL Utensils.

-100g Henna Powder Mix with 300-330ml of lemon juice into the consistency of yoghurt.

-Cover the paste and leave to soak for 8 to 24 hours. if you left it in a warm place the dye release will be quicker.

Indigo

-100g Indigo Powder Mix with 300-330ml WATER into the consistency of yoghurt. Once mixed the paste should be used immediately.

The true colour takes a few days to show

The colour may seem bright, brassy and coppery at first but this will deepen over the next 3 or 4 days. This is because it takes a few days for the oxidation process to take place.

Is henna permanent?

Yes, henna does not wash out although it will gradually fade over time because the dye works like a varnish over your natural hair colour rather than chemically changing it.

Can Indigo along dye hair black?

Henna and Indigo together is what creates the Black but that is only if you use it one after the other like i did in the video. Henna alone on grey hair gives you orange or brown colour. Indigo along on grey hair gives you like a blue colour. When you mix both henna and indigo together you get shades of brown depending on the ratio you used.

Chemically Lightened Hair May React Differently

If your hair has been chemically lightened with peroxide this will affect the colour result.

Allergy Patch Testing

For the brand that i use or any good quality organic henna or indigo it is unusual for anyone to be allergic to it since it it pure and chemical free, but it is possible, as some people can be allergic to natural ingredients too. Apply a small amount of the paste to the inside of your elbow and cover with a sticking plaster. keep checking to see if there is any skin irritation. leave for up to 48 hours ok.

Hi everybody so welcome back to my channel once again. My name is praised in your welcome, so we are going to be dying, a fully gray hair, completely black yeah with just natural product, so I will be dying this hair, which is shorter length. Now I will be using about 300 is 330 mils of lemon juice to about a hundred grams of henna. Yes, we are going to be using henna, so it's all natural and to what you will need to do with henna is that we're gon na have to mix these two ingredients together to leave it for about 8 to 24 hours, so that this guy can release. Now you can also have the dye to release quicker if you leave it in a warm place for about two to three hours, alright, but I always suggest to always baby. Naturally do it thing. Naturally, you know for at least 8 hours for you to be able to get the best results possible, all right, alright. So to stop the dye, I am applying some oil to the hairline and also the neck to act as a barrier to the skin. All right. So this is my hair now and, as you can see, the dye released very well and you actually have some lumps in there, but it melts very well together, so yeah, so by the way. Also remember to wear some gloves to protect your hands so that you don't get any stains and also don't forget to protect your clothes and the flow just in case of any drips. So you can put your hair in two sections first and then you can apply the henna or you can take sections as you go along, which is what I've been doing and be sure to apply generously and try to cover each strand of the hair. So when usually when I'm done, I come like holding it together and then I cover it up with a plastic cup and you should knit it for at least 2 hours I actually nested for 3 hours, because the longer you leave it the better. So this is what the hell look like after we are wash. The Anna behaves. Looking Brown in some areas, and especially grey area, is looking more orange and all this good on different hair so because we are going to be using indigo after this to turn the hair black, we are not going to shampoo the hair all right now to mix The indigo we are going to mix some the same ratio really about 300 to 350 mils of water by a hundred grams of indigo. This is a shorter length, hair. Alright, so the more hair you have at the ball. You add alright, so mix it really. Well, I actually only left it for about two municipal, and this is what I was left with. Now we are going to apply the indigo the same way section by section make sure to cover each strand of every hair. So I thought applying the indigo lie. Actually didn't run out, so I couldn't want to make about another 50 grams of the indigo. It took me for about 6 minutes to mix and family for another 2 minutes. You know and then, when I came back, look 5 how much change the color anyway, I applied the rest of the indigo to be here generously, and then I covered it up with a plastic top here and again. I left it for about two and a half hours. It says if you want black, it should be before at least two hours and basically the longer you leave it in your hair. They won't expect it to dark on your head goes and the longer it will. Last so I did went ahead and raised the indigo out of the hair with warm water, and then I finished it off with cold water. Alright, so I did shampoo this hair at the beginning before we started the whole thing all set. It'S also advise to do not shampoo after the dye, so I would advise you to either shampoo your hair, the beginning, which i think is even good, because you helped to raise out anything else that was in your hair before so that the dye process you to Perform better okay - and this is what in the hand, looks like after the whole process, you might see a little green tint on the hair, but don't worry this will go away. Alright, each go away in a couple of things. So don't worry about that! Thank you. So much for watching guys - and hopefully you found this video useful in the quad. She please unpack them below and I'll try and answer them figure. So much for watching and I'll see you man, you

Praise Onaturals: New Video out now on How To Replace Lemon With Amla Powder it works for more conditioning click here https://youtu.be/9cWWO7B5slg

John 14: 9 من رآني فقد رأى الآب: Excellent video..Good teacher! no long unnecessary talking and waiting for the instructions..straight to the point..clear video instructions, camera work and tips as you go along. All under 5 minutes. (Some vids out there have intros longer than your entire video!)

Brit JJ: This is a fantastic tutorial! Thanks. Also can we take a moment to appreciate your model's gorgeous 4c hair

Private Private: If you allow the indigo to oxidize and develop that purplish metallic sheen she pointed out BEFORE applying it, you'll lose most of the dye's ability to PERMANENTLY dye the hair. It will temporarily dye the hair black but you will notice that it starts washing out nearly immediately and a couple of weeks to three weeks later, it's gone. Mix indigo with room temp to warm water (not hot, never boiling) and apply IMMEDIATELY. It takes about 20 mins to oxidize (that purple metallic sheen) and you want that to happen AFTER it's already in your hair for the darkest, longest lasting color. Only mix as much indigo as you can apply in 20 mins. (I can apply 100 grams of indigo in 20 mins.) Apply it and then mix more if needed. I need approximately 450 g of indigo to cover my hair and so I mix five separate batches that I apply immediately after mixing.

Private Private: Amla is acidic enough to cause dye release and is significantly less harsh and drying on the hair than lemon juice. It will also push henna from reddish orange to a russet or brownish red color. Add 3-4 TBS of amla powder per 100 grams of henna and just use plain water as your liquid. Amla also boosts curls and waves and volumizes. Lastly, it strengthens the hair follicles. It is much better for the hair compared to lemon juice.

L. G.: Such an useful video showing the actual result on very light / grey hair !!!! Amazing to be honest. Very satisfying to watch plus the hair afterwards looks so shiny and healthy and even much thicker... Great job !

Dawn Hewitt - The Gluten-Free Girl: Turned out so beautiful, great job!

Ibeth MC: Ok first for those who are doubting, let me tell you that this works, why? Because my aunt and uncle use the hena to cover their white hair and just with that their hair looks amazing,it all depends on how white the hair is,theirs are more like gray so their hair looks like they did some kind of light brown highlights and even if they don't use the indigo,I have seen people who did and it worked for them, but nevertheless this isn't permanent, you have to keep doing it just like you do when you dye your hair, although there's no chemicals in this option, but once again this is NOT permanent once your hair grows bye bye black hair I guess what really helps is to eat lots antioxidant food, that should keep not only your hair looking better but your entire body but you can try this it really does work...for a while

Sabina Hertzum: I have never used lemon or anything acidic to release color with henna.. I’m a very pale blonde girl with very fine hair, and used to color my hair with henna.. I used very warm ( about 85 degrees Celsius ) water to mix in first... to get it more deep I added red wine and sometimes a intense colorbomb type thing... and my hair always reached a deep intense red color... When adding lemon you are actually developing a lighter red than the henna is capable off... When coloring white hair to black the hair needs yellow, orange and red pigments to build up the depth... You get that by leaving the indigo on for longer, but have you tried other formulations?? Henna is kinda forgiving like that - what you mix in will effect the outcome... Lemon wil lighten - water will color true - red wine will deepen the red and coffee will turn it redishbrown.... And in my experience there is no need to wait - the pigment will not give more or less - the only outcome of waiting is a smoother creamier substance... But that said - the color looks amazing and you reach your desired result - so it obviously works for you... Just wanted to maybe give you some tips you could use if you wanted to :)

Gina Onyemaechi 😊: Great natural hair dye and a highly enjoyable video to watch. I loved the way the lady's hair stretched and relaxed in response to both the henna and the indigo :) An inspring video, young PO. Thank you.

Nairobi kenya: When i was younger we mixed henna with paraffin, put it on our nails, covered it with plastic overnight, the next morning our nails were permanently colored brownish-yellowish, add clear nail polish for shine. Good times. The 90s in kenya

Sle-a: Great demonstation! I use to do this to my hair all the time.. Not only will it cover the gray, the hair will grow, become denser and glossy..

Marie Cadet: This is wonderful, chemical free and all natural. Good job and thanks for sharing!

Beyoutyguide: Just what i needed for my Mum, thanks girl

sa mo: for those who are wondering, guys it really does work!! i followed ur method exactly but i added warm water with the first henna mixture and it really worked amazingly the final color was gorgeous not jet black but beautiful natural looking black THANK YOU SO MUCH SWEETIE

Angela Mayfield: I've used both products and they work wonderfully! I purchase them from any Indian grocery store. But both products will also help to grow the hair as well.

Amanda: This video. I was looking for Henna for my 4c natural hair! Great demo and I could see that all the hairs were black. Thank you so much for being thorough!

JOEGGGJOE: Wow, that was amazing. Love the no chemicals.

Tracy D: I heard and tried that adding a small amount of salt NaCl to the indigo helps the indigo to stick to the hair better. It lasts longer. Thank you her hair came out beautifully.

Bangoulap-Nyamga: I did it and it works!! Thank you Lady

SAMERAH SAAD: Very useful, thanks for sharing. If I may, I would like to know how long does the dye last in your hair? Thanks in advance

Ivory & Gold: What happens when the indigo fades? Will the bright orange be visible? I have a white streak that would like to cover occasionally with no lift hair dye that fades out completely but all the semi permanent hair dyes I've used don't make my white hair black, they just tint it to a dark silvery gray. I've even used one specifically for over 40% gray and it still only lightly tints my white hair silvery gray.

Lola Aina: Wow! That's an amazing technique. How long does the dye last on the hair please?

Dilemma: Thanks for sharing. It looks great, and the black looks natural, and not too harsh. I'm 19, but ever since I was a child, I've always had a little grey hair, so I may try this out. Edit: I just realised that I used the image of one of your popular videos, and showed it to my hairdresser for my box braids. It looked similar to yours, and I loved it. I pulled the image from Google, but didn't know it was this channel.

Nyobe1: beautiful thick, healthy hair!

Salsa Soul: Watching this exactly 4 years later 8/16/21. Thank you for this. Amazing! ❤

Kristin S: Wow, I never thought a herbal dye is that potent

KCohere33: Wow, that looks amazing. I would like to try it. Is it easy to do on your own or do you need someone else to apply it? Thanks!

Melissa K: Great video! I no longer use henna and have never used indigo however I will when the grays come in. I love black hair and this is a great alternative. Where did you buy that comb from? Is it a bone comb?

Olhos Verdes: Thank you for this wonderful video. I appreciate the warm delivery style and simplicity of it. I need to try this. Thank you!

SELAHJOY'S WORLD-UGANDA: Thank you Praise for this superinformative video. I actually used henna indigo application on my dusty brown hair and it turned out great.

كل من عليها فان: You can mix henna with indigo and apple cider vinegar then apply it. After 3 hrs or more, wash it with shampoo. At the beginning you will find that your greys are light orange but after 2-3 days the color darkens to a dark brown.

Arlene Gilmore: You did a great job, it turned out very nice!

GlobalCeTZen: Who else got scared when the first application turned the grey hair orange haha.

Nontandazelo Kwababa: Thank you coach! Where can I get indigo powder and Hema leaves? Where they are usually sold? Thank you

saffron blooming: How long does the dye stay in the hair?

Bayou Boy: Henna has been around for several thousand years. It was discovered by the Egyptians and can be used to make your hair a lot of different colors. And yes while it is not considered a chemical it is not without its problems.

ms: This is awesome .. if my mom would allow me to do this on her, she would love it because she doesn't like to use chemicals to dye her hair . Just seems like a long process Idk if she would want to lol

MsSarnez: Hi There, have you tried to mix the henna and indigo together, and do just one application? I was wondering if it will work. Thanks.

Charmane Greene: Praise, thank you for this tuition on Henna. I am about to do my first henna treatment/color. I would like to know how often can the henna treatment be done? Thank you.

My question is, being that u have a minute amount of gray can I skip the henna step and go straight to the indigo? What do you advise? Thanks again for your time.

M M: what a great video. I have used a powder that was ready: henna and indigo combination and the white part of my hair had turned blue/green, then washed away kind of reddish with time. If I buy that powder again to save time, do you recommend I mix it with lemon juice instead of water? I would greatly appreciate your comment on this issue. I dont like having to dye my hare with chemical colors. thank you

If you were going to ultimately use the indigo coloring then why didn't you just use that by itself instead of using the indigo IN ADDITION TO, the henna. Seems like an extra unnecessary step.
