Hey guys welcome back to my channel today we are going to be experimenting with hair. What is a lockdown without a hair experiment? Am i right, you guys are probably familiar with my last little hair experiment last april. Was it yeah that one wasn't so cute i'll link it down below if you just want to humor yourself this one, however guys look at that blend, like i'm very, very happy with the results and the fact that i did it. Please note: i am not a hairdresser in any way, shape or form, not professional with hair. So if you guys want to see how i went from this to this, then just keep on watching okay, so i'm gon na attempt baby lights and mostly like the top front section. Then, just like a couple in the back, because i don't think i could attempt a full head of highlights - that's just a little bit too adventurous for me, so i'm going to go from like the top of my head right to the fronts of my ear. Oh, my gosh, it's so dark back there. That looks pretty much the same, so we have this right now and mostly i'm focusing right here. I don't think i'll even go down all the way. I think i'll like switch a couple and go this way talking as if i know what i'm doing all right. So you guys obviously know i'm following this girl's tutorial. I don't know i'm leaning forward. I should just like zoom in or maybe maybe that's a good distance. I want you to see my mistakes. What i've done so far. I was able to get that flash lift and i couldn't get the redken developer, but this one got a lot of great reviews and it's pretty much the same. It'S this schwarzkopf blonde premium developer um, it's like a hydrating one, so hopefully good for blonde hair. I got 30 because brad mondo suggests going for 30 because he doesn't see a big difference between 30 and 40.. Don'T come for me! Go for bread mondo, because he said there was not that much of a difference. So we're going with the 30. figured out the formula based off of what she said. So it's just nice and um. It'S a little bit gloopy her uh developer, looked a lot runnier where this one's thicker, i'm guessing, because it's a moisturizing formula developer again, don't know what i'm talking about, but hopefully it's the same situation. So this is what we have so far. I even bought foils, or these are foam wraps for highlighting and coloring technique, there's a little bit of a gridded side and then a really smooth side in my head. You put your hair on top of the gridded side and then paint on because there's a little bit of grip for it to hold on to and then fold it doesn't tell me which way to put it. So that's how i'm gon na base it. Let'S just get started, i think this is gon na have to be my like parting brush, as well as like my application brush, which is fine, so i'm gon na take a really really thin layer. I'M gon na explain this like once and then just focus, because multitasking in this scenario may not be my strong suit. We have a thin layer, it's transparent, as you can see, we're gon na go in and go up and down just like how they do in the salon they make it go. So, oh my gosh, this is gon na. Take me forever. I'M gon na split that i'm gon na put that in my mouth, i'm gon na put this under my hair now realizing that this might not be. I actually remember what i'm supposed to do. I think i'm supposed to put this on yeah this on the end of the brush. I think it goes so fast. First, one, okay get right in there. I feel good about that because i'm like literally about to pull my hair out of my head, remove, i feel, like that's quite thin pieces right, we're just going for it. She kind of like brought that brush a little bit on an angle. I know i don't want to go like right to the root because that's when it can bleed, so i'm just painting it on. Oh, that's, not the hair. I wanted and then i'm really making sure to saturate it, and then i can kind of see where my hair gets a little bit lighter at the ends. I don't want to like super saturate, the bottoms, because they're already quite blonde, so i'm just going to bring this down just a little bit like brush it on. I feel good about that. Sometimes i actually leave the ends out. Should i leave my hands out? Maybe i'll leave like the very ends out. Okay. Here we go we're folding this back up, that's it! That'S it complete. Now, i'm gon na bring it to this side and continue. Does that feel right? Is that kind of falling? Maybe i shouldn't do that. Maybe i should keep it on this side for a bit and go this way. Okay, okay, i feel better about that, one that one kind of would end up better. I think half of this is going in with a little bit of confidence. You know, honestly guys if this works out, i'm just saying also. This is like natural color of hair. Not definitely not, so that's why you want most of it up here, because this is already like processed. You don't want too much of the bleach down here. She'S also going back-to-back foils because there's such thin pieces you're taking at the top um. Maybe i could have gone a little bit thinner with that chunk right here, but yellow committed and fold. Oh that didn't fold right 10 minutes for two foils pretty good! So now you see what i'm doing this mouth is going to shut you can enjoy. The process gave my heart away. I went a bit too far so wrong. Oh no, open up my soul, but dangerously nice. I do have a feeling i feel like. I should be going down this way and not flipping it. So much we're going to go back and forth here. I'M going to flip these this way, because we can that feels better we're going to continue with this time. Of course, that's the very middle of my part, so if i did mess up it's literally, the most noticeable danger will i'm so proud? Have i actually done like 10 in total, and it has been 30 minutes - think i might start adding a thin super thin layer of hair in between just to break it up ever so slightly. Of course my battery is blanking because it knows how long this is taking i'm going to continue and then charge. While i continue okay guys, so my camera died. So i decided to just continue whatever i was. Oh, it was falling off um. I decided to just continue whatever i was showing you forward. So that's all i did. This is really just a game of chance at the moment, because so i get a little tired. I think i started to get a little sloppy, but it's more on the underneath section, which is not the end of the world. I'M really hoping the root tap will be the savior in this. I try not to go too close to like my roots, so that it didn't bleed. Also, i feel like i need to add in some like brightness back here. So, like tease the bottom and then put a couple, boils on just like a little freehand moment feeling adventurous. I'M gon na tease up a lot of the hair, i'm going to put a foil underneath it just to help process it a bit quicker drinking from your bottle baby. That is me finished with the lightener. Now it's kind of the waiting game. I went through the front highlights that i did and this side, which i did first has definitely lifted, but this side still needs a little bit more processing time. So i just went through and put a little bit more of the lightener on areas that looked like it needed a little bit more time, but i have high hopes for this. I'M saying that and then i'm gon na regret it because i'm gon na be like what was i thinking. If it doesn't look good, oh i'm gon na be so upset, i'm thinking the best i'm just gon na think about. So i'm gon na give it 15. 20 minutes reassess and then once i think it's lifted, i don't care if it's like, yellow, because i know i'm putting like a toner on it and that doesn't bother me. It just needs to get to a certain yellow. You know i need a bright yellow to work with, so hopefully this has worked so far. It doesn't look like i have any bleeding areas, but again, i feel reassured with this root top and the girl that i followed her tutorial. Her base color was like identical to mine, so i have high hopes. I just there was some areas. I got a little bit thick with um, which means it's not going to lift as much as the areas that i got thin with um. So yeah i'll be back whenever i've rinsed my hair, double shampoo, wash to make sure all lighteners out and then i'll be back for our root tap. Okay, sorry for the lighting change. It is literally 5 p.m. Yep i started at 2, so this has taken three hours which to be fair, i'm normally at the hairdresser's between three and a half four and a half hours anyways. Although i did a quarter of the work, she probably would so it definitely lifted, and i don't see any obvious areas that like were bleeding, so i'm actually really happy with that now moving on to the root tap, so i mixed a quarter ounce of the redken 6N moroccan sand and then a quarter ounce of the redken shades, eq processing solution, and she says that you don't need a lot so we're going with that. I just did like a quick. I only shampooed my hair twice, i didn't put any conditioner in it, so it's a little um stiff. I guess so. I'M just mixing it up here and she literally just like taps it on she's like you, don't need a lot tap it on the root. I don't want to go too far down in the front, because that's always nice to have it a little bit brighter there go wherever i highlighted and just tap that route ain't. Nobody, i'm okay! I feel like that's this tippity-tappity, as i'm gon na get it kind of looks a little bit softer at the root, so i'm gon na wait. I think it was 20 minutes she had it on and then i'm gon na shower and maybe not even use heat on my hair, let it air dry and then i'll show you guys tomorrow when it's better lighting, because it's it's not black out. So let's pray. This all looks good in the morning. Are you ready? Yes, i will be taking appointments? Are you kidding me? Did i just successfully highlight my hair and root tap it like i'm, actually blown away at the results? Did you guys see my hair before, like roots were to here? The only thing that's a little bit of a downside, which i feel like is a little bit unavoidable. Is i can't get like my back section here so obviously i still have a lot of depth in there, but the little you know last minute, bleach tips, kind of helps, lighten the ends, i'm actually so pleased with how it turned out, and it's super okay. I'M not gon na say it's super easy, but once you feel confident with like the amount of little strands you should have out and like the placing of it, it's actually not too hard anyways. I hope you guys enjoyed i'm gon na link everything down below, but honestly just go check out her tutorial. It was really helpful, have a wonderful day and i'll see you guys soon. Bye,

Cecilia13241: This looks better than what I get at the salon

ellebangs: Yay thank you for using my tutorial! Your hair looks incredible!!

EveaGornall: Gorgeous! What toner did you use afterward?

Laurie W: I am a licensed cosmetologist. For you not being licensed, you did an AMAZING job! It looks gorgeous!

madstarules: I can’t get over how good it is! I’m a hairstylist and I am shook!

LGYX: Girl, I've been doing my hair during the 2 lockdowns on my own and the fact that this was your FIRST TIME and you even did this ON YOUR BED is so freaking impressive. Good JOB!

Amanda van Vuuren: wow, its looks stunning. good job. you got a lot of patience.... lol

Ashley M: I’m a professional hair colorist and I have to say you did an AMAZING job

Pauline B: You did an incredible job!! I'm definitely going to do mine now!

BlondeFlyGurl1030: This looks absolutely incredible! ❤️ I have recently had a terrible mishap with darkening my (naturally) dark blonde hair. After a trip to the salon to have highlights put back in throughout, I STILL have so many brown, now fading to orangish red, pieces everywhere--plus, my hair didn't look even close to as fabulous as yours did in this tutorial! I have done my own highlights at home before for years, which I went to cosmetology school right out of high school, but back in the "cap highlighting" days! I need to try this--thanks so much for posting!

SuperPegMeg: This was so entertaining to watch, and so relatable. I've only done my own foils once, for lowlights, and felt the same way you did while doing it. It took forever, but I liked the end result. I'm about to do my own babylights, wish me luck :\

Sandra: As a hairstylist, I must say I am VERY impressed! Everything from our “language” to the techniques used.. good job!

Catherine Elizabeth: “We’re gonna free hand it” I love this! You’re so honest..we all know how nerve racking dying our hair can be. Turned out GORGEOUS!

Andreea Alexandru: We actually followed this tutorial and the hair turned out amazing, a lot better than the salon indeed! thank you!

Brooke Deen: I've been doing my own for a while now but I've never done a root tap before... gonna be trying that out next time! Also, a little tip for getting the back: I hang a mirror on the wall (directly across from my bathroom mirror) so that I can see the back. It's a little weird at first because you're working off what you see in the mirror so things are flipped, but it's definitely do-able. Great job!

Amy Baxter: It looks amazing, I can’t believe you did that yourself, that couldn’t have been easy

Lily Annand: I'm a hairdresser and I've never attempted to do foils on myself, you did an awesome job! And using quality products makes a huge difference!

Brittany Crowe: Thank you so much for this tutorial I used the same products and technique and my hair came out just like yours! I love it

aftonskye: I’m a stylist, and I approve this video!!!! I also use redken flashlift & shades EQ in the salon and it’s really a great quality product. Quality product, placement, and patience is the key!!! Great work girl!

Youraverageshauna: This video made me feel like I can totally do this! Thank you!

Carrie: Looks so professional! Good job girl!

Adayva Lavine: As a professional you did an outstanding job. It looks beautiful

julia pislar: I love this! Do more DIY beauty stuff please

Rose LeMay: So impressed with you, Lady! Well done! Thanks for letting us follow along!! Looks amazing!

Laura Cronin: Just decided to be brave and go for it. I am absolutely thrilled with the results! Years of going to the salon and this is just as good!

Lucky: I could tell from how good it turned out you did a root tap!! looks amazing girly you’re a professional

niqcole lombardo: That root tapping really is the game changer! That is the best color blend so bright and soft!!❤❤❤

Julia Chandler: This was sooo good, also looks amazing, you are so brave & patient, well done Elanna

Laurel: Amazing!! I need to do this!! I’m so in awe that it turned out so perfect!

ALICE GOLDENVALLEY: love this! It turned out awesome! you're hilarious btw! I am going to be ordering the root tap, already had the bleach ready to go. I am so nervous lol but I have already bleached my hair many times. but those nervous butterflies never go away ^ ^

MIA: Beautiful! It looks professionally done and to be honest better than most color specialists. Definitely subscribed!

mya Biggerstaff: This video was very helpful to me thank you!!! I bought the same products you used && also you look stunning! I know this video is a year old so you may not see this but if you have any tips for doing the top of your head towards the back please let me know! I’m struggling I cannot see well enough to even put one foil up there

Victoria Joly: Looks amazing! You go girl! Loved how you were putting your palms together praying that it would work while doing it ❤️

Elaine Hopkins: Hello from across the pond Your hair looks amazing. I’ve been thinking for a while about doing mine at home as it costs a fortune at the hairdressers You explained it really well even thought you were just winging it Well done you. It looks just as good if not better than some of my expensive trips to the salon. I do have one question - does the hair stop lifting at a certain point? I’m just worried about one side having been in the foils for longer than the other side. Although obviously it’s plain to see yours turned out all fabulous ❤️ Thank you for doing this and being relatable and funny along the way ❤️

Victoria Petsa: Gorgeous hair you did great job with those highlights <3

Karen Greenwood: I cannot believe you did this yourself!!! Looks amazing!

Purple Angel: Your hair looks amazing better than any highlights I've ever had I think you found your new career girl lol

Nefertiti7070: This looks amazing! such a good result!

Stephanie Baker: You look great!!!!! Great job! My highlights cost me about five dollars at home and they cost me about 75 in the salon… Why not just do it yourself? And the big bonus is you get the highlights exactly where you want them! Absolutely lovely!

S L: You killed it! Beautiful It would require me feeling extra adventurous, a redbull & an adderall for me to take this on. Highlighting is tedious. I’ve been bleaching my hair in quarantine as well and though it looks great, I miss the salon experience :( on the bright side I’m saving $200-$300 every couple months!

Cassandra Stockert: Another tip for you is go from the bottom up with your foils, helps keep it from being messy or hectic to do.

Kellie Bell: Did this today!! I was so scared. But it turned out !! Thanks for the inspiration! ❤

Clair Hill: Love your hair blonde you did an amazing job!x

MAYRA05: Omg it came out amazing!!!! I also was brave thanks to ellebangs . Her tutorials are soo easy to follow!!! Bravo!!!!

Hanna Mercedes: You are too funny! Loved the video. Nice to see a novice doing their own hair and being successful! Gives me hope! I’m going to go for it lol

k. h.: As a natural very dark brunette bleaching is so fascinating to me. Like, looking at most blondes’ roots I’m shocked by how naturally dark their hair actually is

Giulia Paizs: girl wtf you are better than all of the hairdressers from my town combined

Amy Hasselbach: You did such a great job!!! Thank you for sharing now I feel encouraged enough to do the same, did you tone all over? If so, what toner did you use?

PK Wilson: Great job, it looks perfect!

katie smith: Wow you did so good! Looks amazing

Susie G: Thank you so much for this! Your hair turned out so beautifully, well done. I'm gonna try this and I'm so nervous. Did you use a toner?? I noticed in the tutorial you followed she ended up doing a follow up video about toning. Your results were great so maybe I don't need one! My coloring is very similar to yours. If you did tone it can you tell me which one? Thanks xx

Jane McGowan: You nailed it! It’s so professional looking x

Morton Vizner: What a gorgeous result! Terrific!

Heather's Corner: You look absolutely STUNNING! What an amazing job

Sue Anderson: God, you are brave! I’d be terrified! My hair is baby fine and breaks really easily. I’m sure I’d end up being bald. You did a fabulous job.

Alexis Grayum: I've been watching videos for days and yours is my favorite. You're so helpful and detailed. Also you're so cute and I was laughing so much at the stuff you were saying... "tap that root" and "yes. I'll be taking appointments" lolol so good. Thank you for this video. I feel like I can do this now. You gave me the confidence I needed

Sierra: you did such an amazing job omg!! now i wanna do it haha

Sharon Cunniss: you did such an amazing job how long did you leave it to develop in your hair from when you started the first foil? and where did you get the products from?

Vivi Gill: You are soooo brave!! You did a great job!

Laura: What a great job it looks so blended

Rut: You did such a good job I'm so impressed

Dominika Kułdo: Wow it looks so good, I'm going to try this method next month :)

Tabatha Grebinger-Martin: Your hair and tutorial came out better than the original tutorial honestly…

Angeline Biswas: Pro tip, start from the bottom of where you’re highlighting and work your way up that way no fools are in your way. Amazing job!

Trumpgirl: LOVE you as a blonde❤️. The color is perfect for you. Your eye and skin color are beautiful ☺️

pme.artist: Loved whole way through! :) you encouraged me to do it at home lol. Lets see

Baby Cakes: Wow. That looks awesome. I can't believe how the color is so nice and blonde, where in others tutorials it turns out yellow, and they need to do toner to fix the yellow. Fantastic job. I want to do it on myself ASAP.

Daniela S.: Better than I have got at a salon before. Also way better than I ever did

Helen Siebeneich: I love your giggles after dividing your hair. Looks amazing

E.: wow this turned out soo good!

Anna Stoecker: I followed the original tutorial as well as this one for references when doing this on my hair, and the root tap didn’t give me any dark blending whatsoever.. I bought the 6N Moroccan sand and literally my hair ended up orange

Erika Alise: Looks gorgeous!!!

Cassidy: Elanna don't tell us to do this don't tell us to do this i know i wont do as good as you IT LOOKS AMAZING WOW

NTia: Thankyou for made this video... It's very useful and inspirating for brunettes

Missquichante: Elanna, it looks beautiful !! How long did you leave the bleach on?  Also, did you tone your hair (which toner did yo use?) Not for the root tap but for the rest? thanks!!!

Brittany L: Wow! LOOKS AMAZING!

Anna Luisa: IT LOOKS SO GOOD ♥️

Brianna: I want to be your best friend! Haha!! This was the most entertaining hair tutorial I've seen! I love your hair and your personality! Great job!!
