Are you thinking about going gray? Are you nervous? Are you on the fence in this video i'm going to be answering four questions that were given to me by the lovely lisa of peach's skin care? This is a collaboration, video i'll, be linking the other silver sisters who are involved in it and we're talking about embracing our gray hair. So she had four questions that she wanted me to answer, and so here is the first question: when you decided to go gray, did you have moments where you thought about giving up or coloring your roots again and if so, what stopped you? To be honest? I was really done with die. I had my moments where it was very difficult to deal with the different colors that were coming in, but i never had the desire to go back to dyeing my hair again. I will admit what stopped me from doing. That is the fact that i was a first-time mom. I was very busy with taking care of my son. I also have chronic health conditions that it was just so convenient to not have to worry about dyeing. My hair and another thing that helped me tremendously was the fact that i got a styled and shaped haircut, so i had a tapered cut, it was very low, but the fact that it was in a style helped me in addition to makeup and earrings that helped Me to be able to deal with the awkward stage, because there was an awkward stage with my gray hair journey and it's funny how you can have a difficult time when you're going through something but still be like yeah. No, i'm not going back. I do miss hair color, but because of the way that my hair has changed and when i used to get my hair colored, it never came out exactly the way it did when my hair was had more pigment in it. I kind of made peace with the fact that me and hair die. We finished our our course together. Where did i go for gray, hair inspiration to keep me motivated, pinterest and youtube youtube of course was my first place. Samantha pollock at that time was deciding that she was going to embrace her gray hair and also do a big chop which i was excited to see. There was also jj mua, but pinterest really had some amazing pictures to be able to help me to see beautiful women of color like mildred bean natural silverista. Her hair was like goals. That'S what i had in my mind of like how i wanted my hair to be, even though i don't see myself growing it out as long as hers, but she was definitely an inspiration, so was ty alexander, even though her hair is relaxed. I just love her hair pattern, so definitely pinterest and youtube were my motivation to help me as well as, like i said, being a first time. Mom was a really great distraction for that journey. I was too busy to think about quitting. How does silver hair make me feel now? It makes me feel the most comfortable i've ever felt in my own skin. It makes me feel unique. It makes me feel it makes me feel really good and the irony guys, especially if you are on the fence, about going gray when my hair, when i finally transitioned all of my colored hair. I was amazed at how the roots that i hated that i didn't that i resisted. I love so much now i cannot wait till all of my hair is white. I am in love with my gray hair was i always no do i have moments still where i look and see from the three years that i've been die free? I have more gray hair now than i did when i started, but i love it. It has made me feel the most authentic and comfortable like. I don't have a second thought. There are many times, i've forgotten and many people be like. I love your hair, but i'm so used to it by now that i'm just like oh yeah, this is different than what most people see. So it feels really nice to feel this comfortable, and i did not think that i would feel that way. I resisted and resisted so i want you to be open to the fact that your perspective on your gray hair can absolutely change once you fully embrace it. That may not be the case for everyone, but it definitely was the case for me, what is my favorite product for my gray hair? I will say my favorite product is the pantene silver expressions purple shampoo. There are many products that i use for my natural hair in general that i won't say that changed because i'm gray, but my gray hair products are more so um purple products and silver expression shampoo. I love it. It makes my hair feel vibrant. My second runner up to that would be the by the way co purple conditioner. I love that conditioner. It leaves my hair feeling soft and it is gentle enough that if i used it every day or every single week, i wouldn't have any fear of staining. Now. The silver expressions purple shampoo - i use that twice a month and it's a nice vibrant purple, but i love that it doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped as sometimes purple shampoos can make. You feel what advice do i have for someone just starting their gray. Hair journey. Be patient give it some time. I saw a quote on pinterest. That said, beautiful things take time, so i would say, give your hair time to grow in for you to really feel if it's for you, because in the beginning it is going to be awkward. It is going to feel now. There are many women who have learned to even embrace that beginning stage but i'll admit like it's: it's not a fun feeling to for it to not look intentional, but once it starts to grow in you'll, you'll really start to like it. So i would encourage you to give it a try, but also don't beat yourself up. If, after all is said and done, you decide you want to dye your hair again, i want to be able to create space for many different experiences. Just because my experience was this way doesn't mean that yours will be that way. You may look at my gray hair pattern. Your gray hair pattern may be different, so give yourself space for what your beautiful, unique silver crown will look like, and ultimately, with my page guys, i encourage you to love you and accept you as you are, so if that is with a silver crown, if that Is you decide that that's not for you? I respect that, but at the end of the day, if you decide that dyeing your hair helps you with convenience, you like the way it looks fine, but if you're doing it because you feel like you won't be beautiful. Otherwise or those kind of limiting beliefs, i challenge you to test that and that's what i did. I can sit here and tell you all the things i'm telling you, but you won't know the truth of what i'm saying until you try it for yourself. So that would be my advice to those who are just starting their gray, hair journey and also i'm here. There'S a beautiful community on instagram of silver sisters, there's also many more women who are sharing their journey now on youtube, so you're not alone, and if you need help, we are here for you. So i thank you guys so much for watching this. Video which, like i said, was in collaboration with lisa of peach's skin care, as well as other silver sisters who, in the description box, i will put a link to their video so that you can check them out and give them some support. So, as always guys, i appreciate your support. I appreciate you as a community. You guys help to make doing what i do amazing and fulfilling. So i thank you so much for each of you who watch this video who like it, who share it who subscribe and who leave me a comment. Uh. Thank you so much and i look forward to seeing you guys on the next video bye

Kam E.: Hi Nina, lovely as always! Thank you for sharing life into our gray hair with your videos. Nice to know and see others who use youtube and other platforms to express acceptance. Your voice speaks for many.

Annette Simmons: Hi Nina: I’m new to your channel and am interested in trying certain items on your favorites list. I’m 76 and transitioned to gray about 10 yrs ago before that I dyed for about 25 yrs. My hair is thin, short, tapered and low porosity. I’ve been doing some research after watching your videos . Normally I shampoo and condition once a week on Thursday or Friday. I want to start using products on your favorite products list but I’m confused. Do I use purple products once a month then in between use one of the shampoos and conditioners on the list? There is so much wonderful products there. Right now I’m trying a cocktail mix of fresh aloe mixed with coconut oil and rubbing that into my scalp once a week using a heating cap and I can see my hair has more moisture and it seems a little thicker. Any suggestions you can give as far as product, would be helpful. Thank you

Wendy: I use the Silver Expression shampoo and conditioner. I use the conditioner for a quick conditioner, not deep. Love both of them. Love that you are so encouraging and positive to those people that are on the fence about their gray hair.

OliviaDaughter: Thanks for inspiration. I’ve been wearing my gray since January. I’m feeling good about it.

Pandi's Hair Candi & more: You're such an inspiration...thanks so much for sharing!

Elizabeth Ortiz: Instagram,Pinterest, & YouTube were my inspiration & motivation to transitioning to gray hair.

Peaches Skin Care: You are beautiful and inspiring. We must do a collaboration Lisa

Sheli Kays: Thank you. You really motivate me. I always look forward to your videos

GymBarberella *: I had to dye my hair because I was using a henna & chebe powder products. Then I had to do a big chop to go back gray again.

indria drayton: Your hair, well, you know how I rave over it!!!!

Cheryl Butler: Please I saw a lot of different products that you used Pre Poo I think it’s called. I have high porosity 4c hair. Gray, and fully natural. Help me! Lol I am buying so many different products please tell me how often should I pre Poo, and what are you “go to” products for your gray hair?

Cheryl Frazier: I got tired of coloring. Eventually I got tired of perms. Later I went natural. The process was 40 yrs. yes 40 yrs.

Wendy Knight: No just do it baby

indria drayton: Samantha Pollack!!!!
