Changing up your hair color to enhance or spice up, your look can be as easy as choosing from a few options to either do on your own at home or ask for insulin, and the best part is none of these options. I'M going over today are going to break the bank, that is the sound of money staying in your pocket. Hello all welcome to my channel if you're new here my name is Summer - and I am a licensed cosmetologist of 15 plus years and my channel here is all things hair from cutting and coloring tutorials to reviewing and comparing products and tools with some of my favorite Videos focusing on finer, thinner, hair types and always giving you my honest opinions. I think we can all agree. Most people who color their hair are at one point or another, looking for ways to switch things up without either having a ton of maintenance required. But that is also still going to be budget friendly. Today, I'm going to be going over three different color options that can meet the needs of anyone. Yes, anyone who is one wanting a little something something to add to their hair while going over these options, I'm going to also be showing you guys examples of them exactly as well, so you get the best idea before we get started. I want to make note quickly on the level system, as this is very important to know what level of Darkness or lightness your hair is when changing up your hair. This is especially important if you are doing this on your own. At home, a level chart is made up of one to ten Shades, typically with one being the darkest and 10 being the lightest. It is key to know what level your hair falls into. Are you light dark somewhere in the middle? This greatly helps to have a better idea on what to expect and what's realistic when changing your hair color. If you are coloring your hair at home - and you are unfamiliar with this, I'm going to link below in the description a Swatch you can buy on Amazon to help you narrow your level down Pro tip. If you are having a hard time figuring out your exact shade, it can be confusing, simply take the Swatch that you think you are place it near your ring growth, snap, a pic and put it into black and white. It'S really going to help. Give you the best visual for what level your natural is now on to our options: option one darkening your route to add depth and dimension. This is a great option really for anyone, but I'm going to narrow this down more for those who opt to do a single color because they like the easiest, most affordable option for their hair darkening your root, it's a great way to add just enough contrast to The rest of your hair, often the sun, naturally lightens the hair. That'S already grown out, so keeping your root a little darker is a way that you can also mimic the lighter look to the rest of your hair without necessarily having to lighten it. I suggest darkening your Roux a half a shade to one shade darker for getting that Dimension and often opting to use a semi-permanent color is a great way to accomplish this. You will be able to have a bit of a change without having to fully commit, and if you have gray hair, you are still going to get those Grays and blend it in, and I will link some up options in the description below for you to check Out for those doing it on your own at home, and if you are getting your hair done in Salon, simply just explain to your stylist that you are wanting to darken your root for some contrast, but that you don't want the commitment of permanent color and they Will be able to formulate properly for you option two adding in face framing highlights face framing highlights, are another great option to enhance your color and add brighter Dimension to your hair, like mentioned before, the sun naturally lightens our ends, and this is usually most noticeable around. Our face you can get as little as 10 foils around your face, and it will make a beautiful difference to your look. The thing that's great about this option is that it's going to be less expensive than a traditional, partial or full foil, and it's going to keep more money in your pocket, and it leaves you with less time either spent in Salon or doing it on your own. At home, whether you want them bold or subtle, face roaming highlights are really a sure way to make your your color pop, and you can't be only getting 10 foils option three getting a glaze before we break down this option fully, I want to explain what a Glaze, exactly is, as the topic of a glaze is probably the number one thing I find. A lot of clients are confused on. If you are one who falls into this confusion, let me know please in the comments below if you are and if I have hopefully helped solve that confusion by the end of this video, so people often confuse a glaze and toner and honestly, the product used to Create these both are the same thing. What the difference is is how they are being used. A toner is meant to tone out unwanted color or balance out the multiple tones that may be found in one's hair. If you are lining your hair and the blonde is looking brassy, a toner will tone out the orange or red that you are seeing with the formula made up from Shades that are either blue or Ash based to counteract the color. You don't want to see. Are you with me an easier example of this is purple shampoo. Purple shampoo is a toning shampoo that will balance out The Unwanted yellow tones found in the hair when mixing a toner, one really needs to understand the color wheel and what colors are opposite of one another. Let me know in the comments as well. If that is a video that you would like to see to help, you better understand, formulating and to better understand the color wheel, if you're confused a glaze is a refresher to help bring your color back to life and it's often formulated in the same level of Color that your hair is it's going to also add some shine in it. Basically, the hair version to what clear coat is to your nails. Glazes are semi-permanent, meaning that they will last you roughly four to six weeks, depending on how often you wash your hair and whether you are a Brunette blonde or a redhead. A glaze is always an amazing option to refresh your hair back to life. They are also great for keeping dimension in your hair, while, while you can stay in the same level of color with your glaze, you can also darken your hair with a glaze. If you are a medium blonde, let's say, and you are wanting to go to a darker blonde or light brunette, a glaze will deepen your hair, but because it is not a permanent color you're going to see some underlying Dimension from your previous highlights that you have You won't just be one solid drop color that often using a permanent, especially when going from light to dark, can leave the hair. Looking Haley Bieber is a great example of this, as her hair is often on the more brunette side, but she has subtle, lighter pieces that are popping through. If you have highlighted hair, you can get a similar look to this by simply adding a glaze. That is just a touch. Darker glazes are also great to add the extra pop to your color. I recently in my own glaze and in my copper or redhead, clients have started adding in a straight orange or red pigment kicker to my formulas. This works similar to to a fashion color, but it's designed to enhance whatever tone you currently have so for redheads, copper, tones or really warm blondes. Having your stylist, add in a red, orange or yellow straight pigment. Shade will really add an amazing pop to your color, making you feel like you've just had a low-key makeover and in Salon. Glazes are a quick application that can be done at the shampoo bowl in under half an hour and at home you can easily apply them in your bathroom or even in the shower. I like to apply on both myself and clients on damp hair. The price point of a glaze is also very cost friendly, and it can usually be a very affordable add-on service to get in Salon. Any of these three options can be done on several different types of hair color. If you are a bright blonde, you can opt to darken your root to a darker shade, but still stay in the blonde family. It doesn't have to mean that you go from blonde to Brown or brown to Black and remember that, if you don't want to fully commit it, you can simply use a semi-permanent color. If you are opting to add in some face framing highlights - and you want it to be the least upkeep - I suggest keeping them more on the subtle side, as the garage will be a little less harsh than if they are too bold and honestly, a glaze is The number one most cost effective and low maintenance option to enhance your color that everyone honestly should be doing. It'S so easy, and it really does make such a difference to bring your hair back to life. Quick tips to extend the life of your color lukewarm, to cool water, temp shampoos, lower heat settings for your hot tools and heat protectant heat protectant heat protectant. Did I say, heat protectant enough. Think of your hair as like a high-end fabric, would you try to iron a silk blouse on the highest heat possible? No, you would burn the fabric and ruin the blouse, and the same idea goes for your hair. This is why using a lower heat and heat protectant is so vital. Those three things are going to be so beneficial to both your color and the health of your hair in general. I so hope you guys enjoyed today's video.
