Hello, my name is yukoya, i'm the creator and founder of silky socks and luxury hair care company, and i'm here today to give you five tips on how you can avoid hair loss when you are wearing wigs and or hair extensions, and that doesn't matter what kind Of hair extensions, they are whether they're clip-ins or the tape ins getting sew-ins whatever you're doing. All five of these tips are going to help you to maintain your hair that you have so a lot of people, wear, hair extensions and especially wigs due to hair loss or hair thinning, but it has been proven that doing certain things can be the opposite. If you're wearing wigs and hair extensions for style and not just health reasons, you also could be damaging what hair you do have, and so we want to avoid that at all costs. So let's go ahead and get into these tips, but i just need you to do one thing for me: if you can go ahead and hit that like button, this helps me out with the algorithm to let people know that this is a good video and i Promise you that all five tips will help you, because you can start implementing them today, so go ahead and hit that like button. Alright, let's go ahead and get into it. So the first tip to avoid hair loss while wearing a wig or hair extensions, is to maintain a healthy hair routine for your own hair. Healthy hair really starts with a healthy scalp and in order to make sure that you're keeping your scalp clean, you need to be making sure that you're washing it and conditioning your scalp and hair on a regular basis. Now, depending on what type of hair you have and your hair texture, you may need to do this more often. You may not need to do it all the time, but, however, often that your hair requires that you wash and condition it to keep it nice and clean is exactly what you should be doing, whatever type of conditioners or oils or treatments that your hair likes. Make sure that you're doing it and not only doing it but doing it on a regular and consistent basis so that you can make sure that you're maintaining a healthy scalp? You can also eat healthy hair foods. There'S a lot of foods and fruits that really go into nourishing your body and especially your scalp, which you can see results in your hair, especially when it comes to hair growth and volume, also making sure, if you're wearing a lot of wigs, oiling your hairline. Maybe putting a little oil on your hairline before you install your wig or even if it's at night, when you're not wearing the wig. Just maintaining some moisture, especially around that hairline, which is really really sensitive, can be very, very important and taking care of your hair. On a regular basis, no matter if you're doing it at home or seeing a licensed professional is really really going to go a long way in maintaining hair health and avoiding hair loss. The next tip is not pulling your hair or braids too tight. So a lot of times when you are wearing a wig in order to have the wig lay flatter you're, either braiding your hair down. In some way, you may be pulling your hair back into some type of bun or some type of ponytail, and all that is fine, and i understand exactly why you're doing it right. We want the wig to look as realistic as possible, but if you're doing it too tight, that's causing a lot of tension and stress on your hair strands, which can lead to hair loss over time. So the best thing to do is not put things too tight rubber bands, or even when you're, starting at your roots and braiding your hair back or if someone else is braiding. Your hair make sure that it's not too tight to the point that it's giving you a headache or it's pulling where you're seeing like little bumps or it's sore, because any kind of stress on your hair and you're doing it every day. All the time, all the time that will end up in hair loss and that's exactly what we don't want to do so make sure that no hairstyle or braids are ever too tight loosen it up so tip two kind of leads right into tip number three for Avoiding hair loss when wearing wigs and hair extensions, and that is to rotate the styles that you're wearing your hair in so, for instance, if you are wearing your hair in cornrows back consistently underneath your wig, then you want to change up the braid pattern. Instead of maybe having the hair go all the way back, every single time, maybe you have one braid go to the right. One braid go to the left, or maybe you do no cornrows at all. Maybe you do two ponytails. Instead, if you're wearing two ponytails all the time, maybe you wear a bun instead, but when you consistently change the hairstyle, then what that does is that keeps tension from building up in one area all the time it gives that hair and those hair strands a break And gives them a chance to flow and go in another direction, because when you're constantly pulling your hair back in the same way, not only if it's too tight, but if it's in that same direction over and over and over again, that is also going to lead To hair tension, so if you're wearing hair extensions, maybe don't put them on a ponytail all the time, maybe put them in a bun, sometimes part it differently. Just anything that you can do to change up the direction of the hair and of the style will really over time lead to less damage and result in no hair loss. Now this next tip is going to be hard for some of you and i totally understand, but this is so vital and it's so important that you give your hairline a break and that is to stop gluing down your wigs or hair extensions every single day. I know we're back outside. We want to look good. I am here for that. I am with you on that, but it is so so important that you give your hairline and your roots a break consistently using products and gluing things onto your hair. Gluing things on your scalp: it's going to weigh your hair down and it's also going to clog your pores on your scalp, which can lead to hair loss, and you don't want that. So give your hair a break. If you're wearing wigs, you can definitely try using a headband wig as an alternative, because that's something that you can put on without having to use any kind of glue or any kind of adhesive. If you're wearing hair extensions, maybe trade out the type of hair extensions. You'Re, using maybe don't use the tape ends for a little bit, maybe switch to a comb instead of using the same extensions over and over again. But doing this will give your scalp and your hair some time, and especially your hairline, if you're gluing, wigs down because taking those wigs on and off on and off and that build up is a lot of tension and this hair is sensitive around your hairline and That will be the first to go. I know, we've seen it many many times. Unfortunately, women who are really thin or balding around their edges, and you don't want that. So if you're, a person who has to wear your wig every day make sure that you're using some protection like a wig grip or a wig, fix to make sure that you are protecting that ever so delicate hair line. Also, when you are removing your wig or your hair, extensions, make sure that you are removing them in the way that the manufacturer of that particular glue, adhesive or whoever made your product read how they are telling you to remove that product. You make sure you doing that, because that is the best way to take the product off. You don't want to be ripping things off or just pulling things off. That is another way to for sure lose some hair, and this last tip is honey. Simply take the wig off take the extensions out, and i know this one again is easier said than done, because we outside we want to look good. We want to look cute, or maybe you date, somebody and you're not ready for them to see your real hair. Yet - and i get all of that, but there is something to gain from giving your scalp a break - your scalp needs to breathe, it needs air, your hair needs air, and so, if it's consistently under a cap under wig grips under things, then that is the sure Enough way to lose it give your hair a break, give it a rest, make sure you're, not sleeping in those wigs. Some alternatives that you can do is wearing hat wigs. They have literally hats with hair sewn into them that you can just throw on for the day or two for a week or two when you're going out and making your errands and doing things that you need to do or just wearing your own hair. And if you don't have hair or your hair is thinning and that's not really an option for you and you don't feel comfortable. There are such beautiful scarves that you can wear that. You can tie up and use and then at night you can sleep in a bonnet or a satin or silk hair scarf so they're all alternatives that you can use to give your hair a break and allow it to breathe so that you don't constantly have friction And things rubbing against your hair and hairline that will lead to hair loss over time. So those are all five of my tips on how to avoid hair loss when wearing wigs and hair extensions.
