Foreign welcome to this week's video great to see you hope, you're having a wonderful and joyful holiday season. I was going to do a q a video this week. I put it out there that I would except I've been reading in the comment section and all of you are asking: how are you getting that big volume in such short hair show me? I want a hair tutorial that sometimes you can have a plan, but then you can change plans and pop in what it is that the viewer wants. It is a hair tutorial by request, and it kind of makes sense doing this before New Year's Eve and then we'll have the Q a at the beginning of the year kind of kick it off with a more intimate type video. So what will you need? Your favorite hair dryer for me it's the Dyson, supersonic you're going to need some products. I like, for instance, something that makes my hair healthy. So I use the virtue correct the anti-frizz. It'S great for split ends keeps my hair healthy as I'm letting it grow in. I will also be using virtue volumizing spray as well to get that added lift and then I will be using a product by Kumo. It'S called abstract and this really really gets the hair to kind of stick and stand up when I'm done and then I will also use the helium's fiberflex as well. It'S kind of a texturizing spray, so product is really important when you're trying to create volume. Also, my favorite brush is this square round Brush by from f-r-o-m-m links to everything in the description below if you're looking for products that kind of fit the bill and help out, otherwise, you can kind of dig around in what you have and try to find something Similar so starting with a wet head and I'm going to take my first product, which is the virtue. I don't need a lot because I don't have a lot and I'm really going to concentrate toward the ends of my hair and up front, which is where the hair tends to get the most damaged and dry. So just a little bit there and following up with the virtue volumizer, and so I'm just going to take this in sections where I want lift, which is kind of everywhere, especially at the crown and up front, not too much again, because you have short hair, you Don'T want to over saturate it with product, because then it gets a little too sticky. Okay, so we are ready for the blow dry you're, going to notice a lot of redirection, one side, the other side, the other side, the other side. It helps to kind of trick your hair, it doesn't know where the part is anymore and that helps to create lift as well so watch I'm going to do a lot of moving before I get the brush in foreign. All the back comes down and forward. This is the one time I will say, I'm very lucky for having naturally curly hair, because it really really helps to create volume. So my Straight haired friends product is really going to be key for you and a couple of tricks that I'll show you in just a bit. So now we start working with the brush and I'm going to be going forward and then back like that. I'Ve got to smooth out a lot of my curl, but I still need some of it for volume, foreign so with the root area. Sometimes you need to hold the heat there and let it cool a little bit as well before you pull it out. Thank you. So, as you can see it's kind of a forward and then a back a forward in the back, because we don't want it all just going back, we want to have some of this coming forward and then the ends just winging back ever so slightly the back Pieces by the nape of the neck, I'm just pushing forward and then flipping out a little bit. Okay, here's where the secret sauce really comes in. What I now do is I take Clips like so, and I start to section my hair, starting with the first section, and I will take it and just sort of loosely bend it back and anchor it with a clip. Then I'll. Take a midsection and I'll literally make it stick straight up and mind you. The hair is, is still warm from the blow dry. Normally, at this point, hair stylists would put the velcro rollers in, but I'm trying to avoid too much of a Bend. I really just want root lift and I don't want my hair to have the loop, because I think that makes it dated, but just clamping it and holding it up, gives it volume, while it cools, and so normally I've reversed the process. Normally, I do my hair. First and then I put on my makeup, so my hair literally will sit like this for about 20 minutes or, however long it takes for me to do my makeup, depending on the look and where I'm going and then after it's cooled, I will then take it Out and start styling, so we're just going to pretend like time, has passed and a little time warp and we're going to fast forward and bring it to 20 minutes from now. Okay, so these things have now cooled. I'M going to take the Kumo abstract, which is a very thick paste after I remove these, of course, and I'm going to warm it up and then go upside down and I'm not touching the scalp, I'm going about maybe half an inch from the scalp on out And I'm just lifting and piecing everything upside down, then I'm taking the helium fiberflex and I'm just doing a few sprays upside down as a texturizer just to continue to work it and now flip it back and just sort of see where it wants to go. But it creates a ton of volume and you can play around if you want sides kind of flat to the face. If you want just height, you know a lot of events and things that I've done. I'Ve created a lot of volume up top and then just kind of slick down the sides which you can do for a more looser free look which goes better with what I'm wearing just really messy and PC. And then I just sort of set it with this. Fiber Flex, as well always aiming from the underside to create volume there and not to weigh it down, but that's a big hair for some short hair. You know what I'm saying: amazing, all the options, and that's just what I love love to show is that you always have options, no matter the length and even if you're, in a grow out phase like I am, and I've got so many of you asking well What are you growing it into, and I kid you not. I have no earthly idea, no idea, it's it's. I hear there's this. This new look called the bixie, which is like the pixie bob-ish. I don't know what the heck this is. All I know is that it's what I've got and I'm gon na make it work. I haven't cut my hair in months um aside from literally just kind of reaching out and clipping some dead straight ends, but that's the extent of it. But anyway, There You Go just with a little bit of playing and a little bit of product. You can make things happen. Let me just check the back before I show you make sure I got everything in place. I think I do yep. Okay, that side everything's. Just Loosely kind of going back, but that's how you create big volume with short hair and and how you can handle a grow out and also make short hair feel longer. That'S the neat thing about it, and, and that's really what volume does is it makes you feel like you've got more hair than you really have. These products are incredible, they work, I love them, but I'm telling you this little technique, while you're waiting for your. You know hair to cool and putting on your makeup. It'S amazing how much volume it gives you and it lasts so enjoy. Thank you for requesting a hair tutorial and wondering how I'm making it happen, while I'm going through kind of that weird stage. So that's what you do you make magic happen. You make lemonade out of lemons, be bold, be blessed, be safe, have a beautiful New Year's Eve. I can't wait to see you in 2023 and all the things that we create and do together. Bye,

Paula Wiggins: Love that you are growing your hair out again! It looks great even at this stage though!! You really have hair styling skills at almost a professional level!

Gina Maria: Thanks for the tips and products, I’m also in that in between stage with my hair ☺️

cwm53: Hello Dominique, Thanks for another great year of tutorials, style, and just sharing with your viewers. I really need to get some volume in my short layered bob; the bitter cold in the Northeast wreaks havoc with our hair. Have a great New Year's Eve and a Happy New Year!

Music Lover: I get it, Dominique. I never have a specific goal with my hair. As it grows, I always see a new style emerging and just have fun playing with the look of the day. That’s why my hair always looks different (aside from taming the curl as it will do what it wants on any given day). I have taken many screen shots of your various hairstyles and think “I could do that”. It’s never quite the same, but I enjoy the journey. These products are extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing.

J Cool: Some people, such as yourself, can look good no matter what hairstyle you wear. Happy New Year.

Gigi Murray: Hi Dominique, I have been watching you from Australia every Friday ( our time ) for about 4 years now. I noticed the stress, the sadness, turmoil with a hint of depression since you moved from the family home. It is heartwarming to see you finally settled and happy. I’m sure it’s not easy to be always ‘on’ but you sure look like your on your way to being ‘on’ behind close doors too. Gigi x

Ann Catherine Gallagher: Thanks so much for doing this hair video today, I was even looking at some of your older hair tutorials this morning .

Harmony: Your hair looks fabulous, love the colour and the style. You’ve inspired me to find a new style for mine.

Nina: Thank you Dominique. So helpful ❤

NoAutumn: This is the look I am going for, but don't know what to call it, to tell my hairdresser. I am growing out, from shorter and thinner. I have wavy, very fine hair. I find few to no YT creators who have or show a client with hair like mine. I will adapt your techniques, thanks! Let's name it!

Chi Girl: Thank you for the short hair tutorial! What a difference the clips make. I don't like to wash my hair more than twice a week because it tends to get dry. This morning I add hair dryer heat to the section of my 2 day old hair style which had a flat spot from sleeping. I added the clips, cooled my hair and like magic my hair had lift again. The clips are a great tip! Thank you! Happy New Year, Dominique!!

Dee Smith: Hi Dominique! Thanks again for a great tutorial! You make everything seem so fluid & simple! Always looking for ways to add volume without looking old fashioned. Do you have any other suggestions for styling my 67 year old little fine processed bixie cut or layered bob? Am somewhat restricted as my left hand is artificial. Am currently using a hot air styler however find it does add too much bend in hair that you were talking about. All the best in 2023! Dee

Christine OConnor: Love all your videos. Gives me lots of ideas for my look. And at 70 I am having a good time! How about another giveaway!! Maybe the Dominique lip collection!!!

Belinda Shanle: I just grew my hair out, now thinking of going short again. Thank you for the styling tips! A Happy New Year wish for you and your family, may you all be blessed

ice: Hi Dominique! Please link the color argon oil you use. Thank you.

Nan: Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. I need a new hair “look” so badly I could cry. Thank you, Dominique.

Aspen English: Your hair looks beautiful!

Susan Mango: You are showing that a great cut doesn't have to be painful to grow out :) There are so many blogs and videos about how awful it is to grow out a pixie but I am with you, embrace different styles on the way down, great job!

Jo Simpson: Your hair always looks incredibly thick Dominique - you certainly had me fooled. My fine blond bob goes very flat with most products (spent a small fortune!) but the head upside down trick is a good one. Wishing you and your mum a very happy 2023 from across the pond

Joshua O’Rian: Beauty. And loving your natural wave too.

Antoinette Chuffa: Your hair looks sensational....HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Pray you have a wonderful upcoming year u deserve it!!

NoAutumn: Really cute on you, it may be a favorite for you, eventually. I love having shorter hair, just not as short as it is now. Fun to watch it grow.

Luca: Great job and tips Dominique Always classy Happy New year !

Heidi Borton: Hi Dominique! Have you ever tried doing the Curly Girl method on your hair and going curly?

michelle scott: Great one thank you. It’s a bit late for this request but how about another vision board for 2023, I’m feeling a bit stuck and think you might be able to help kick start it for me.

jnfalvey1: Awesome! I love that you show all the steps not just the end result. I have a tendency to get to a point when things are kind of wacky looking and then give up rather than playing with my hair to shape it how I want it. Thank you!

Silvia García: HI Dominique! Thanks for your support on this year, suggesting and helping us to look better. I wish the best on this year that is coming soon.. Happy New Year 2023! Get a hug! ❤️

Mary ann Mcgowen: Love the tutorials! You make it easy to learn! Quick, thorough, and beautiful look...check ✔

Patti Adkins: Alway gorgeous. So pretty. You definitely have patience for that transition from short to longer hair. Kudos to you.

THE realGeehoo: Your hair always looks perfect and I try so hard to get the same results but to no avail! I have baby-fine silky hair that has a mind of its own…don’t even get me started on the four cowlicks I have to wrestle with! PS: Love your hair short!

cleanqueen75: Your hair is cute. I have alot shorter hair. I like no maintenance. I’m not good at styling my hair plus I don’t like a lot of product in my hair.

Maurita Edwards: I'm currently reluctantly growing my hair out from a platinum buzz cut I've had for the past 3 years. It's definitely healthier without all the bleaching. Fantastic products have greatly improved my hair texture and thickness.

Marty Davis: This reminds me of one of your hair videos from way back, when you had a similar style. You never look like you’re in between styles when it’s growing out! I have to say you are nailing it with the hair, the makeup, and we definitely need details on that top. Gorgeous You!!

Valerie Boyer: So chic, so cute. Can’t wait to see what happens as you grow it out. Thank you doll!

Libby Miller: LOVED this!! I have been "wrestling" with my hair lately!! I NEEDED these great tips! I will be trying this tomorrow! Thanks for a wonderful watch! HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and many blessings and love to you and your sweet Mom ( hope she is doing well)

leslie b.: Such a fun video! I'm losing some hair from chemotherapy, and can't wait to try this for volume!

Lori Miller: Love you always and your easy explanation on how to achieve every day fun looks !

Patricia Levy: Excellent! especially placing the clips in a way that your hair doesn't look dated with the big loop! The temperature of the hair dryer should be in the medium side or more likely on the lowest? On another note : are you including in your Q & A video challenges of motherhood at this stage of your son's life? Happy New Year 2023 !!✨️✨️ @DominiqueSasche

TheRockinDaisy: Thanks so much for your informative and detailed tutorial! Are any of the products you use fragrance free?

NOLA's Family: Enjoyed the video & tips! Love that in your brunette, warmth is shining through! Question, in the past did you ever use Jonathan Antin's "Dirt" for texturizing? If so, are these products similar? Happy New Year to You, Styles, Oscar and of course Audrey! (and to the other subscribers) wink :)

Elena Pizzarello: Gorgeous! Happy and Healthy New Year, Dominique, to you and your beautiful Mama! XO

Catherine Hezelgrave: Really helpful thank you xx

Maria Stalzer: Lovely as always! Growing out my short shag as well and not sure where I'll end up. Cant wait to see where your hair style lands too!

Jan2: Awesome looking!!!

Gina Johnson Lyon: Loved this video! So much value always coming from you Dominique ❤

Ai1een *: It looks so sexy when it’s wispy. I never know what products to use so thanks!

linda sedillo: Your hair looks so pretty I went to have my haircut and the style is got carried away and left me so short I feel like I look like a squirrel so now I'm trying to let it grow to look like yours cuz you are so encouraging and the way you teach us how to do things many blessings to you
