I've been slowly developing more and more grey hair over the past few years. It started when I was 18 and I've been trying to hide it since.

But it's come to the point where plucking and pulling out the greys just aren't enough. There are too many of them. So, I've turned to this natural brown hair dye to help cover up my greys. It's the closest thing to my natural hair colour, and works really effectively at covering up any grey hair I have.

I hope you will enjoy the video! Sending you so much love and big hugs! ♥

Hey guys., So today I will be sharing how to dye your hair brown naturally., So I actually naturally have brown hair. This is my natural hair colour and I've been putting off dyeing my hair with chemical dyes for as long as possible. But .... I have something to admit.. I'Ve been hiding this for the past 8 years, but I am actually starting to go grey or more white. So it's more just .... I don't know if you can see on the camera. I'Ll do a close-up later, but it's just hidden under so thankfully it's not on top. I can sort of hide it and any ones that do show. I tend to pluck out. And I've been doing this for 8 years. So it's been happening since I was 18 around then, and it's mainly because in my family it's a bit more of the genetic side.. My mum went grey, not fully grey, but she started getting grey hairs at 18.. My twin sister has a bit of grey hair.. My brother has a bit of grey hair., So I think it's more just in our family., It's very hard to avoid so I've. Just I've come to accept it over the years that I am just going to go gray a bit earlier in life, but that's all right, because thankfully there are things such as hair dyes to cover it up.. So I've been avoiding doing that for a long time. 1 ) Because I just didn't - want to pay the money to keep dyeing my hair and 2 ). I didn't want to do it conventionally, because, while I'm still so young, I don't be putting chemical dyes and chemicals. Just on my hair on my head, where I can absorb it and those toxins go into my body, so I've been looking at other ways of dyeing. My hair and I've come across a few different options.. I will share just this one hair dye today and then in future videos I'll share how you can dye your hair with things like rosemary sage, nettle and things like that., But I'll do that in a later video, so stick around. If you want to see that., But today I'll be dyeing my hair with henna Bam., This is the henna brand that I use.. I used it when I dyed my hair red with henna.. I just really like this brand, because it's really just purely henna and other natural ingredients used to get the colour.. It doesn't have any chemicals or any artificial ingredients.. So, as you can see on this box, it's quite clean.. So that's why I tend to go with this brand.. It'S the Light Mountain Natural one and you can get it online, which is where I got it from. Now it does come in plastic unfortunately., The henna itself. And I do try and avoid plastic as much as possible, like I've been living plastic-free for the past year., But I couldn't find any other henna that comes not in plastic, so this was the best option I could find - and I will do my best to recycle the plastic at the end.. Now the full kind of how-to will be linked in the description below for you guys as well.. So you can look through that and read the step by step. If you want to do that, or you can stick around watch this video and I will also go through it - live to show you how to dye your hair, naturally with henna., I love henna because it actually lasts longer. The way it works. Is it actually stains? Your hair., So it's actually really hard to get the colour out once you've dyed your hair.. So the best thing to do is to do a strand test beforehand, Where you get a little bit of hair, most likely from your hair brush and just pull out the hair. That'S on your hairbrush and then you apply some of the henna solution onto that leave. It overnight wash it out and it will show you what it will look like on your hair.. This is also a great way to see if you actually like the colour, rather than dyeing it and then going afterwards like''. Oh, I don't like this.''. Also, it's a good idea to just do a tiny little bit to see. If you have any reaction to it, you may have allergic reaction to henna. I don't know., But it's just good idea to be sure in case I've used henna before so. I know. I'M all good., So that is pretty much what I'll be doing ... to dye these greys and to keep it hidden for longer.. If you do buy the Light Mountain Natural henna, it will come with its own set of instructions., But I thought I'd go through it today, anyway. So to make the henna mix you'll need to pour the whole packet of henna into a large bowl and then add About three to three and a half cups of boiling hot water, so around 355mL., So you want to add the water slowly to the henna.. So just a little bit at a time and then you want to stir with a wooden or plastic spoon. So not a metal spoon and just stir the water in until it develops a consistency similar to yoghurt.. If it's still quite dry - and it's not that yoghurt consistency, you can add a little bit more water and just slowly add it in until it develops that lovely thick, quite gluggy consistency.. If you do experience any clumping or grittiness due to a dry batch of henna, you can add 2 to 6 heaping tablespoons, using a plastic spoon of plain yoghurt to help it attain that creamier consistency.. This henna didn't need to cure overnight. While I do know some, others do so just check the instructions before applying it to your hair.. I quickly wet and just quickly rinsed out my hair before applying the henna to my hair, as they say that having damp towel-dried hair helps it to stick and just set on hair better.. You can use gloves to apply the henna onto your hair as it does stain skin just for a little while it will wash off eventually. But if that does concern you, you can put on gloves.. But for me I prefer not to use gloves because I don't like the single-use plastic ones and I didn't have any others that I could use to apply. So I just used my hands and I found it was fine. The henna faded after a few days. When applying the henna. You want to begin from the crown of your head and I strongly recommend if you have thick long hair like me to work from the bottom and work it up. So try and pin back your hair to one side and get the bottom strands and then slowly work to the top, because if you apply from the top and then try and work under as henna's very mud-like, it's very thick. It'S very hard to get to the bottom strands after you've applied it on top, so I recommend pulling back your hair and working from the bottom up.. It'S very helpful to lie towels down while you're doing the henna dye as it can drop and drip everywhere and as henna stains, you don't want to get it on your bathroom sink or on your bench or on your floor or just anywhere other than your hair.. So I found lying towels around just really helps to prevent any mess from happening, although I still managed to get it everywhere. I even dropped it on my shoe and I had to wash it off. While I was doing my henna hair dye., It just happens.. It'S a bit of a messy process, but it really works quite effectively.. Then, once all your strands have been coated in the henna, you can work down to the ends of your hair.. Once all your hair is covered, you can then wrap it up in a plastic cap or a shower cap.. I didn't actually have either so what I did was make a makeshift one out of a plastic bag which I then kept and used later on again.. So I just wrapped it around my head and pinned it in place, and this just helps create a heated environment on your head, which helps the henna to set better. Sitting out in the sun can also help a little bit as it just-. The heat helps the henna to set better on hair.. It is recommended to use intermittent heat by using a hair dryer on the low heat setting or using a warmed towel placed over the cup for just about 5 to 10 minutes to retain the warmth and moisture within the cap.. However, I found just using the plastic cap over my head helps keep enough heat in to allow the colour to set really well.. If you do choose to use a warmed, towel, or especially a hair dryer, be careful not to let the plastic cap melt at all. So really use it on a low setting.. You can leave the henna on your hair for up to 45 minutes or even up to 4 hours, which is what I did. I like to leave it on for the longer amount of time to achieve the best and most strongest colour on my hair.. After the four hours, I then rinsed out the henna using warm water under my shower and just kept rinsing it out until the water ran clear.. Now I didn't use any shampoo or conditioner, or anything like that. I just used water as it takes up to 3 days for the true colour of henna to show through on your hair., So I waited until 3 days to then shampoo, my hair., So this is the next day after dyeing my hair with the henna.. It'S actually worked so well, like I don't know if you can tell it's really noticeable when you're in the light.. It'S gone a shade darker, so it is darker than my original hair colour, which is great, so it showed that it worked in staining my hair and the greys have gone So I'll do a close-up. So you can see. All the greys that were hiding underneath my hair they've all gone. So it means that I can tie my hair up in a ponytail now in like a high bun or a high ponytail, and not need to worry that the greys are all showing, which is so good, I'm so happy about that.. So I will show you guys in 3 days time how it's going and show you the difference once the true colour has sort of set in a bit more.. So it's been 3 days since I dyed my hair brown with henna.. Now I feel like it's actually lightened since then. It was more dark. I feel on the first day, afterwards. I can actually wash my hair today, so I'm really excited to just give it a wash because it still smells of henna 3 days later.. Every time I go like around I'm like'', What is that smell ?'', I'm like? Oh, it's the henna still sitting in my hair.. If you try it yourself, you'll know what I mean. It has a very unique and pungent smell and it's sort of earthy., So it'd be nice to sort of wash it out like any remnants and just have really clean hair again.. I will show you guys over the next week how it goes and how it looks. Just show you different sort of lighting to show you how it looks with the henna. I'm just thrilled that it's covered. My greys, like I, keep looking and like tying my hair up, just because I can now like the greys, have all gone, I'm so happy about that., That's probably my my biggest thing. During the week I made the most of the sunshine we were having. So I went and sat outside by the pool quite often, and it was amazing to see the different tones and highlights in my hair from the henna. I found in the sunlight. My hair showed slight tones of red from the henna, which was quite pretty and then in the shade. It was really quite dark and the tones were really dark. Brown., It's beautiful to see.. So today marks exactly a week since I dyed my hair brown and I have to say I've absolutely been loving. The fact that I can now wear my hair up in a super high ponytail and not be worried that all these greys that were all underneath my hair are now showing through.. I'M like-, look at my hair and be like-. You can come and have a closer look., There's no greys. None.. This week's been awesome, just been really just sort of feeling really free to just show off my hair and wear it in high ponies most days now.. So if you guys do try using henna yourself, please let me know. I'd love to hear in the comments what you guys, think of it or how you guys have found it.. The henna smell has finally left my hair as well.. I'Ve done. About- 3 washes now. So the smell's finally gone., So it just smells of coconut now, because I've been rubbing coconut through the ends of my hair to help with rehydrating them, because the chlorine water does not do it any good when I'm doing swim, teaching at work.. So I've been trying to sort of keep it hydrated and stop it from drying out by doing that.. I hope you guys enjoyed today's video.. Do let me know what you think and what you guys do to dye your hair. Naturally, I'd love to hear other ideas and other tips for that as well.. Thank you so much for watching this whole video and sticking it out with me, and thank you so much for the love and support that you guys leave in the comments below it. Just makes my day to read so many beautiful messages, and it really inspires me to keep making these videos for you all.. So thank you so much., I'm so grateful to be part of this community.
