Don't Forget To Live Your Extra Life.

Hi, beautiful shags are all the rage right now and there's something about a shag haircut done well, that makes me just gasp like it just makes me so excited. I see so many people on tiktok and youtube trying to do their own shag haircut and it always comes out a mess typically, and i want to share with you a technique on how to cut a shag haircut very very easily. It'S about four steps. Anybody could do it. I also want to preface this by saying this is not exactly how i would do a shag haircut on a client. However, i've simplified things to make it easier for you guys at home. If you're going to attempt this, i wanted to give you a way to do it easier and do it pretty well, so, with a few tools, some patience and willingness to learn, we can accomplish a shag haircut. That is my goal for you today. I also want to say one last thing: if you are not willing to accept that you may mess up your hair. If you try and cut it yourself, do not attempt this. Even the easiest things in my opinion can be difficult for some people to accomplish on their own hair. So do this at your own will with that said, let me show you how to do an awesome and easy shag haircut on your own hair. Let'S do it so i'm going to be using just a regular hair cutting scissor, please just go, buy a disposable hair cutting shears. If you would like, i will link something below that's cheap on amazon that you can buy. Just don't use kitchen scissors, please. I would also advise you to get some thinning shears. They have the little teeth on them. I will also link something down below some clips would be good. They don't have to be like this. At least two of them. A comb or brush would be great and, lastly, elastic. That is such few things. This is all i'm asking. Please don't use kitchen scissors so with that all said, let's get my client for today and, let's start the cut, oh hi miss you want a shy haircut. I'M gon na give it to you. You'Re gon na want to start with your hair wet. That is the number one thing, because when your hair is dry, you have all kinds of waves going on in there, even if you don't see them on the top, there may be some underneath. That means your hair is not going to be cut evenly, but when your hair is wet, it gets weighed down and that weight pattern comes out easily. So her hair is really tangled, but you know we got our hydromaniac conditioning mist to help with the tangles and conditioner hair and give her a beautiful, shiny, healthy hair. I just whip my face with a bunch of water. Okay, now, let's brush this hair out a little more hydromania make sure that hair is nice and smooth. We grab our elastic and we're doing a really really high ponytail. So i'm just gon na brush all the hair back and we're just gon na pull it all up literally to the very top of the head, and you must make sure that you have no bumps in the hair. You want this to be as smooth and beautiful as possible. Now, typically for such a high pony, i might use a hair bungee, but i want to show you guys how you can do it without buying those things, because they can be expensive and we're just gon na smooth that out put our elastic right in there get It as perfect as possible so that it is centered in the top of her head. So that is what it should look like. So we're on to the fun stuff we're gon na get cutting. Did you do it right? This is an important step. Hi, it's brad from the future here um. I forgot to mention kind of important part if your hair is extremely long and your goal is to make it shorter as well as do a more of shaggy layered. Look please before you do this step cut your hair shorter, bring your hair to the back of your head and cut a straight line across to where you would like your length to end. Have somebody help you please? Otherwise, if your hair is already at a length that you like - and you do not want to cut your length first, please proceed with this next step and don't worry about it. Okay, now we take a deep breath: do a prayer to the hair gods and hope for the best um, i'm just kidding it's all gon na be fine, so we're gon na brush out the ponytail with our comb or a brush, and we are going to do A little scissor moment with our fingers get our fingers in there on the ends. I'M gon na be cutting off three or four inches off the top of her hair, probably like right there. What we can do, if you want to be sure that you're not cutting off length, is take a piece out from the back of the ponytail and bring it up, and you see how that lands like right there. That means, if i cut right there, i won't be getting rid of any of the length. I want to cut these layers, as short as i can, without getting rid of the length, because her hair is already not that long. If i cut it any shorter, it's going to not have that like shaggy, feel so by having this piece out in the back and bringing it up to the ponytail marking where that ends and then cutting there. That is going to give you a cut. That does not get rid of the length of your hair. It just adds a lot of layering, so we're going to comb it out, put our fingers on there and then i'm going to just cut right across so now we have that cut just like that. I'Ll show you guys that what's happening is you're pulling all this hair up right to the top of her head, and it is also more forward than back. Also, the ponytail is up on the front of her hair as well, so you're gon na get maximum length at the nape of her neck down here. So it's gon na be really long. It'S gon na start to get shorter as you get up here, because the ponytail was directed more towards the front of her hair, and the shortest parts will also be right where the ponytail is pulled up at right on the top of her head. So you're gon na get that layering up here up here and then it's gon na get really shaggy down here because of that over direction we did so now. Let me show you what i got. This is the exciting part get excited, get excited. Okay, i'm really excited i'm such a little hair nerd. Let me shake this out. Imagine this came out like terrible, and i was like i'm just kidding all right. So here is what we have now. We have these layers sitting about right there, which is a great spot. We also have this layering around the face now and we still have our length intact. We'Re gon na add even more texture onto this haircut, but look at that like all of this layering is sitting beautifully. You know we pull these layers up, just a random group of hair and look at how pretty precise that is like it's nearly a straight line like it's quite beautiful, but we're not done yet we're gon na add the finishing touches to make this be spectacular, even Better than what it already is, so, let's part our hair down the middle, because you know what with a shag, you need to do a middle part. I don't care what you say. I don't care now things get a little tiny, tiny bit more complicated, and i want you to bear with me so we're going to do our middle part like i just did and we're just going to section this front section out right behind the ear and just Push the rest of the hair back or clip it. If you would like we're going to work this in two sections, i'm going to over direct the hair all the way to the other side - and you see how i have those two shorter pieces - i'm just going to cut off that long stuff in between all right. So we have a nice straight edge. I'M gon na bring the rest of the hair over and i'm gon na use that guide. I just made and cut that other extra length that we don't need all right. This is going to give you some beautiful layering around the face. You see that it ends right at the chin, it's so pretty, and that was extremely easy to do. You see that, oh, my god, i love this haircut. Let'S now do the other side, so we'll do the top part first, we'll just bring it to the other side of the head and wherever your shortest pieces, mine's right there, i'm just gon na cut off the rest of that hair. This is looking gorgeous. I'M obsessed, i wish this was my head, because i want this haircut next and nearly our final step. I think i said four steps. Maybe there's a five. Maybe i was tricking you i don't know. You'Re, just gon na take out a little triangle piece in the front of the head, just like that, like a little slice, this doesn't need to be perfect. You really don't need to do that. Section perfect either, but you're just gon na add a little sort of um curtain: bang, okay, so comb out the hair and just take the shears wherever, like the top of your lip bottom, your nose ends just take little tiny munches until you meet the rest of The hair length, you know start off small and work your way up, like keep going until you get what you want, except don't do it too much that you end up bald. Okay. So that's what i'm going to keep, but i did just two quick little moments of munching people are probably what the is he saying munching on the hair like? Does anybody get what i'm talking about? I'M gon na do the same thing on the other side, exactly where i did before right under the nose and just take out little munches, like your scissors, are hungry, but they're only trying to snack on the hair. You know, okay, that was a lot of hair. You know that's how much i'm taking off and that's just gon na give us that little slight curtain bang - and we have our layers after that, and just like that we have finished the main part of the haircut. All we have to do after the blow dry is just a little bit of tweaking with the thinning shears just to make sure there's no harsh lines in the hair, but this is the haircut now. I'M gon na do probably a very natural air, dried sort of look with my diffuser. I want to make it look very lived-in and very fresh and natural, just because i love when hair has texture with a shaggy cut like this. So let me grab some products and i'll be right back, so we're, of course, going to hit the hair with some force field that protects the hair up to 500 degrees fahrenheit. It also adds a nice amount of hold to the hair to make sure your style lasts now just to do a quick little sprinkle on the top of the head, not too much and not too little. Let'S brush that in really quick just to make sure it gets all over the entire head. Let'S add our wave tech wave foam. Oh the holy grail, you're gon na see her hair transform with this product. Before your eyes, it's gon na go from this straight hair. To this beautiful body full wave with a diffuser now this product is great for obviously curly hair people. You guys have probably heard about it. It'S literally gone super viral like it's insane like. Thank you for that by the way, but it'll also add nice body on straight hair. Now it will not make your hair curly. Let me just say that if you have straight hair, but it will give you beautiful amounts of body and wave as long as you use a diffuser, we're gon na put this on our comb. You can use any kind of comb. You can use a white cheese comb or whatever you want to do and we're just gon na get this all over the head. It'S not that serious! It'S gon na look like you're, literally shampooing your hair, but that feeling goes away once you start drying it or once you start air drying it. This product can be used to air dry or to blow dry. Of course, i really want to get it all over. Those roots, too, that way we have no frizz. This product can take a little bit of trial and error of just knowing how much you want to use on your hair. It all depends on how much hold how much body, how much a lift you want. Everybody'S different, so just experiment with the product and give it a try we'll brush that through. I know this hurts some people like. Why are you brushing through you know, wavy or curly hair? I like to do it that way, and it's up to you how you do it. I feel like it works better when the product is all over every strand. But that's just me and now for this look because i want it to be more lived in less glossy and more gritty. I'M gon na use salty sea salt spray to give me that lived-in beachy hot sexy summer hair this product has oils french salt, water and so many other amazing beneficial ingredients. So i'm just gon na scrunch the hair. I know it looks crazy. I know it looks ratty, but it's gon na. Look. You la la la la la la la we'll. Do that middle part again and just get the top a little bit smooth before we start blow drying, give it a little more scrunch and we can diffuse and boom. Her hair is dried now before i finish, the waves, um and the style of it. I'M also gon na show you what it looks like when it's actually smoothed out and you can really see the layering a lot more, but before we do that, i'm just gon na finish this haircut with you guys and this part is going to involve these babies. The thinning shears, it is a lot easier when your hair is dried straight. If you're going to wear your hair wavy just pick out some spots where you feel like there's a lot of heaviness, so i would say like that piece. It looks like it's a little too heavy for me. I'M gon na, like two inches up from the bottom of the hair and just take out a little bit of weight. That way you get a little bit more of that beautiful frayed edge. You know you want that really wispy light flowy, airy sort of vibe with this haircut so just going on those top layers and giving it a little bit of texture. You can literally just pick up pieces and give it more texture. It'S easiest when it's dry. That way, you can really see the effect of what you're doing so. Let'S just go around the head and take out a little bit of hair where we feel necessary. Don'T go overboard with this. Okay, just take out enough, you can always go back and do more later on the next day, whatever you want to do, but let's just remove some of that bulk from those layers and just get a little more of that wispiness going on, especially in the bang Area the ends are really a little too thick for me, so i'm just gon na go in a few times to give it a little more bounce and a little more sexiness. So we have our shortest layers right here right under her eyes and our longest hair. All the way down here and it's giving me that shag life now, let's just finish this off with the one and only product that i love so much for shaggy hair, which is bdsm a slick and defined balm. Let me grab it here. She is. This. Is the one i use on my hair every single day, let's just take a little bit on our fingertips and let's just go through the bottom, and just give it a little more separation, a little more of that pieciness a little more that lived in vibe. This adds hydration gloss, shine and hold, but a very flexible sexy hold, and that is my shaggy hair. Look all complete! Oh my god like do you see how much that just transformed her look? You can make this as shaggy as you want it. You can go crazy with it like if you have these ends more straight and the rest of the hair, more wavy it'll give you even more of that. Like melody, shaggy look. Otherwise it's really up to you how you want to style it. It just gives you a really great base in order to style the hair, give it nice life and volume, and it really helps accentuate that wave pattern um without this haircut. Her waves would not look like this and i so love this lived in punk rock 70s. Look so much, but let me also show you what the hair looks like styled: a completely different way with some shorter bangs, and here she is. This is the same haircut with shorter, bangs and styled differently. I love this one as well. This has a beautiful like voluminous blowout going on. You can see even better that nice short layering that the haircut gave her and there's no, you know ugly shelving going on like there's no harsh lines. It'S super airy super sexy and super cool um kind of obsessed with this look like what like hello, i saw her on the street if i saw both of them like hanging out together on the street. I'D be so intimidated, like walk right by them like i wouldn't know what to do, because i'd be like. Oh, my god, they're too pretty for me yeah. We both got the same haircut like we asked for a shag. What do you think becca? Oh, my god, i'm obsessed too, oh, my god, i'm so happy, i'm glad i got to teach you guys that there's just such a satisfied feeling when you do hair exactly how you envisioned it. I'M obsessed with the look. I hope you are too, and i hope if you try this on your own hair, it worked out well and i would love to see what you guys do. With my hair but wasn't allowed to until i was 16., although i can color it in natural colors, i was wondering the cut and color you would recommend to me. Oh you know what i'm about to say to you. Westy, your hair would look so good in a shag like the haircuts. We did today like cutting your hair short first and then doing a shag. That would look amazing, especially with those bangs that you already have. I honestly really like your hair color. If anything just add a few more highlights, but your hair color is beautiful. I don't want to mess with it too much. So a shag keep the color add some highlights, keep the bangs. You know it'll, look great, that's all for today guys. Thank you. So much for watching don't forget to live your extra life and i'll see you next time. Bye, guys uh

O: Brad: don’t use kitchen scissors! Me, sweating and repeatedly glancing at my antique dagger:

Alyssa Sansone: mister Brad, the people need you to put a wig on and do these tutorials on yourself ! please and thank you

Tatiana D: I just did this cut: I’ve done a lot of ponytail cuts on myself over the years, because my super thick hair often gets butchered by hair dressers, and this positioning is the best- You want the ponytail lined up on your head with your ears, basically. I have… a lot of hair, and it takes so long for me to get it all unlumpified for the ponytail, but it’s worth it. This cut turned out well, but I added a layer- I like angling around the crown in the back, so I like to take a thin section on top, comb it forward, and point cut/thin it out just below the brows. It gives you a pretty, textured layer about ear level in the back. Give it a shot!

Emily May: Just followed your tutorial on my butt length hair. I was wanting to go extreme and chop a lot off but I followed your advice and only took a little. I’m glad I did. I feel so refreshed and my ends look way better. It turned out great!

GN: Just trimmed my long curly hair into this Shag - easy tutorial to follow and it looks fabulous! I haven’t had a proper haircut in almost twice years! Thank you!

Krista Garcia: Brad I literally just did this like 30 mins ago and I freaking love it my hair looks AMAZING thank you so so so much!!! I actually got the layering I wanted

Leslie Rae: I saw this tutorial back in December and decided to give it a try after cutting my own hair since the lockdown in 2020. I LOVE IT! It’s light and flowy, it has all this texture and the front layers curl in such beautiful way, half the time I don’t even need to blow dry or style it! I can just add product and let it air dry and it still looks fucking flawless. I get compliments on my hair all the time! And the tutorial made it sooooo simple to do, it’s my go to cut now, I did it again recently because it was starting to grow out and it’s still the easiest and best tutorial I’ve seen! Thank you Brad!!!!

Juanita Blight: So…I was a little (ok a lot) nervous about doing this cut! I watched your video about 5 times and then started cutting… OH MY GOODNESS it came out so cute!!! I ended up cutting off about about four inches, but my ends needed it. My hair is naturally wavy/curly and this cut works with my face shape! I couldn’t figure out if I could put my pics here so I’ll find you elsewhere. LOL This was great! THANK YOU!!

Mary Jones: I just gave myself this cut and it turned out really well! I absolutely used fabric scissors (lol sorry, Brad) and my fingers were cramping up doing the scissor hold on my thick hair, but I would say this is a pretty easy to follow tutorial. I 100% agree he should wear a wig and do it on himself. ✨sidenote✨ I set the playback to half speed so I could follow easier and he sounds straight up like a Becky in a bar bathroom. couldn't stop laughing.

Awesome Koga: I was really bored yesterday. Ended up with a wolf cut. My son was shocked that I cut so much off. He did like it. I like it too but might try adding more layers because I didn’t have thinning shears.

Riven Smith: Brad: Don't cut your hair at home unless you're a professional Also Brad: at home haircut tutorial Step one: be Brad Mondo

Ania: Yay! Thank you for this! My mom was a hairstylist in the 70’s pre having kids so I trust her and she did this for me. She may not have the most up to date techniques but she has the skills to pull things off.

Scribblette: I did this cut on myself today while watching the video. Turned out perfect! I think it’s a very forgiving cut and does not need to be *that* precise to look good to the average person. I also have very thick and wavy/curly hair so it hides a lot of mistakes.

Eli Moon: Just did my sister's hair! She looks so good and is very happy with the outcome! (Btw I've never been good with hair and it was my very fist time cutting someone's hair!-also my mom as a hairdresser was surprised I did them so good)

Imogen: Months ago I totally messed up a haircut on myself, and got something chaotic that also felt strangely comfortable and good when I looked in the mirror. Only recently I’ve learnt that I got something closer to what it seems to be called a “Wolf cut” out of pure coincidence by messing up. And now thanks to your video I am finally able not only to adjust it but also to shape it better with method and not just pure luck. Thank you so much.

Maria Natzayeth: Brad: please please PLEASE don’t use kitchen scissors Me: having lost my kitchen scissors ready to risk it all with kid’s craft pattern scissors

Sophie Vanderbilt: I just did this cut and it turned out really cute!! Btw I used the Creaclip (yes I know Brad roasted it on a video before but that thing works great for me) and it was the perfect tool for this shag look. Yes, I could have used my fingers and a hair tie, but I’m disabled and the creaclip really helped me keep it even.

Khai: i have 2b/2c curly hair and it works! highly recommended! (i usually wear my hair in middle part and previously have no layers at all because i cut them myself in straight line before. So my hair feel so much lighter now since my hair is quite thick) Thank you Brad!✨ will never go to salon again lol

Christine Zwicke: Brad! 1. brilliant technique soooo simple. 2. LOVE the finishing process 3. The look is beyond perfect! You ROCK...but you should know that. ❤️

Sloan Long: Hi Brad, I can't thank you enough!! I'm a home hairstylist only now with another non-hair full-time job, and had a theory the ponytail method should work, but wasn't 100% certain, until I saw your perfect tutorial! We had been in lock-down for ages and my mid-back length, curly, fine strand, thick hair, was a straggly mess. After watching your vid (all the way thru, LOL) I had my bf trim my length across the back and followed your instructions, which resulted in perfect shaggy layers that refreshed my curls and after a little side length tailoring, face framing and razor thinning, I feel like new!!!

alohabulato: Imagine Brad doing an at-home haircut tutorial but he's wearing a wig and actually doing it on himself

Kira Klatt: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! My hair was so damaged and I needed a cut so bad but haven't had time to get in. Followed this tutorial and gave myself the best haircut I've had in years!! Also, your wavetech has added so much body and actually gives my lifeless straight hair a little wave, I love it so much!!

Tine T.: Thank you so much for this fun tutorial, Brad! I'm super happy with my results, though for the curtain bangs, I needed the help of my husband. I have curly hair and unfortunately, I've only had rather bad experiences with hairdressers so far. I've never been so happy with a haircut ♥️♥️♥️

contemplativegirl21: Just did this with the curtain bang tutorial and it turned out so freaking good - thanks for these tutorials, Brad! Super helpful.

Sonna Fox: Brad, I have cut my hair with your tutorial today and it turned out perfectly!!!! the volume it gets from the difuser is amazing. I have a shoulder lenght hair and I love it! Thank you <3

Angeline Nicole Ortiz: brad: "pls don't use kitchen scissors" me: ok *uses fabric shears*

cassie corkill: Omg thank you brad I’m so happy with the way my hair turned out it was sooooo easy and the difference in my hair it feels so much lighter and looks amazing because my hair is soooo long (well past the middle of my back) I kept the length but the layers give it so much shape thank you thank you thank you

Kristin H.: I tried this! I have a little wavy/ curly hair which is pretty thick. I always didn't like how my hair felt in the ends. This haircut really thinned my hair, while not losing length. My hair looks just more alive. But still I wished that Brad would have shown the cut more closely, so I can see how thin it will actually be. It really is worth a try!! Oh and putting my hair up in a high ponytail with wet hair was hell

Marymation: just did it and it turned out fantastic, will be using this method from now on. thank you Brad!!

Charlene Garant: I just discovered your channel today and am really enjoying your tutorials! I already tried your shag cut and I'm loving the extra layers. I wasn't sure if it would work on my long hair, as my arms could barely reach high enough to not lose overall length, but it worked. Thanks for your videos, I look forward to more and hope you enjoy your break.

giovana: dear brad, after two years trying to grow my hair since my last bad haircut, i was inspired by your video to cut it myself. what happened: i made the ponytail too close to my forehead, and the front pieces ended up being too short, i dont really mind it, but my mom and dad said i looked hideous so i cried myself to sleep. love u!

India Mace: OMG Brad, this is the most amazing technique to get those beautiful layers that use to take me hours to achieve on my own! This technique is so simple, so easy. I absolutely LOVE the way it came out! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

lise fiad: Ahhh I just did this to myself in quarantine lockdown and I am so happy I did. COVID canceled Christmas but this cut made it so much better. I’m obsessed and it was so easy!! Thank you Brad

YOGAMUDRA VIDEOS: OMG! My hair came out amazing. Watched this video at least 5 times and followed it exactly as instructed. Fantastic, thank you so much.

Jillian: Hi Brad, I just wanted to thank you so much for posting this video. I have spent the last year dealing with mental health issues, and I’d let myself and my appearance go to hell...when I was finally able to pick myself up, one of the things I needed to tend to was my hair, it was growing out, looked heavy and weighed down and was a grey dried up mess. I came across your tutorial on wolf cuts and gave it a go. Now my hair looks so much better with new layers and a colouring, and it helps me with my new growing self confidence. Thank you so much ❤️

dcgn fghgh: Lets get ready for "Brad reacting to people following his shag hair tutorial."

kristy wiliams: Thank you Brad I did this haircut and it came out so good you would have been mad I did not use hair scissors but it still came out good thank you so much you give people courage to do stuff they normally wouldn't do and with your steps it came out perfect love you thank you

Mandie Hurst: I love your tutorials !!!!! Because every time life has a hiccup the only thing that helps is updating my look and yours are so fun to watch and super easy to follow . Thank you !!!

Sheena I.: I had this cut about 10 years ago and haven't been able to get anyone to take me seriously about putting those layers in. So I went out and bought my own scissors just to do this!!!

Marie Benz: I followed your instructions, and it turned out great! I had a problem with the last step so I did the wisps up at an angle. Perfect. Thank you!

Jen: I’m sorry. I used kitchen scissors. I don’t have hair scissors and watched this video at 4am and was too impatient to wait for Walmart to open so I cut it with kitchen scissors. It turned out good but I was just feeling guilty and had to confess

Josefine Wistrand: I have a side part so it got a bit wonky at first, and I think I put my ponytail a bit too far back on my head XD but then I went in all around the head with overdirecting the hair and cutting off layers "manually" and that worked like a charm - even though I'd never done it before! :D I cut my own hair 15 cm shorter to a bob using your tutorial too before that today! :D thank you for these tutorials, brad! :D

Erin LeBlanc Wilder: This was the easiest and best tutorial I found to help me handle my extremely unruly, long, kinky hair- thanks so much!!!

SAMMY’S WORLD: Wow. This was one of the best self taught hair cut I’ve seen. Your passion for cutting & styling is amazing. TY!

Nancy Raman: Dear Brad: Thank you for the haircut lesson. Tried your method and my hair looks great!! Might be my imagination, but it also feels thicker. Again, thank you!!

Goddess Sarah: This was so easy for me. I wanted more dramatic shaggy layers but I already had bangs so I just tied my bangs and my side pieces out and did the little high ponytail chop and it’s perfectttt.

Kaya: I DID IT! And I'm absolutely obsessed! My favourite haircut I ever had! Thank you for this amazing tutorial <3

Christina A MacLean: Hi Brad, finally someone explained how far on top of one's head the ponytail needs to be and why you pull a piece of your long hair up to cut the length. I know how to cut the bang part of your video. Thank you Brad, your video was awesome.

bkrissy88: Amazing, very straightforward instructions and my hair looks great, thank you!

Chinead O'Connor: I'm going to an event tonight so I didn't follow all the way in case something went wrong lol, just did the initial cut and my wavy hair already looks so much better!!! Can't wait to actually go in and give myself proper layers in a few days!!

Jo Stephensen: Love this easy to follow tutorial, I've been eager to do it for a while now. Bit the bullet and went for it, turned out perfect. And just as good as the first time I wore this style in the 70's, actually it's better. Thanks Brad (I used hairdressing scissors )

Rachel Pradhan: Did this on myself and love it!

THT: Love this video! The second look with the shorter bangs is basically what I have...I have always had a long version of a shag and I seem to struggle with how to style it.

bryony ayaka: this literally could not have come at a better time i’m so tempted to do this

Heidi Luebben: This hair cut is just what I needed! Only took me 20 minutes and so much movement & volume. Brad you are the bestie you didn't know I had!

Abby Nichols: Hey brad :) I have a question, if I did this haircut and it didn’t give a big difference does that mean I didn’t take enough hair off?? I just cut about 3 inches and I saw almost no difference besides the ends, my hair is also almost down to my elbow. Hope someone or yourself can answer!

Rebecca Hunt: This is the best haircut I’ve ever had! I’m so happy I got the courage to go for it! Thank you Brad!!!

Lisa Thomas : Hey Brad! I followed this tutorial…….super impressed with the results! Sending big thanks from the UK!! Xx

Ellis Delpi: “A comb or brush would be great” After the videos he’s seen his expectations are LOW

Kora Sasseville: Absolutely loved this video. Shag haircuts have always been my favorite and I've been doing my own for a couple of years now but this video was fab!!! Thank you thank you a hundred more times, you're amazing!!!!

DreadsNDogs: Love this cut! Just did it on my hair and it turned out awsome! Thank you so much

sarah decker: Been watching this for a year, too Adair’s to do it, till today!!!!!! Of course I had soaking wet hair and actual hair cutting scissors! I think it came out amazing! Thank you Brad!!

Júlia Tagliaro: I have been cutting, bleaching and coloring my own hair since I was 12ish (now 27) and I feel like I always take much more time to do the tutorials because I simply have A BUNCH OF HAIR, like, A LOT. That's also one of the reasons why I don't go to hairstylists, they always charge me more because of the amount of hair I have

Alexandria Perez: Who else feels so confident like a professional hair stylist after watching his videos but scared to try them yourself bc you think your gonna fuck in your hair?

Tina Hughes: Hello Hunnie , I literally just started watching you and you were fabulous thank you so much for showing me how to cut my own hair trust me I won’t overdo it or make myself bald

Melissa Martel: Thank you!! I did it after sleeping on it and I love the result! I got rid of split ends, weight and it really compliments my waves!

Eva Khallouky: Yes!! It worked really well on me. For the first time I have an actual hair cut and not just everything flat and cut at the same length. Thank you Brad!!!

Elyse Hemphill: I just did the curtain bang tutorial and it went really well! I def need to go all the way and do the full shag though so I’m thinking about doing this tonight…….

Evita Khach: Step 1: people gotta learn that a shag and a mullet are two different haircuts/styles lol

Laura Gossert: Thank you! I went to a salon and got a new girl a few months ago and she did not achieve a shag, at all. I just did it myself in about 15 minutes and it is exactly what I wanted.

Zelda: this is the haircut I want for months and now you're just explaining it for doing it at home, when I do color my hair I will try it I love it so damn much I love that rock hairstyle

TheKnelson77: So I have long (down to my chesticles), thick, curly hair and I wasn't sure if this cut would *work* for me but I went for it and it looks great!! I had to go in with the thinning shears quite liberally but I'm getting major Farrah Fawcett vibes TY Brad!

LM: Hey @Brad Mondo! I just did this tutorial on my own hair and it turned out great. I've had so many compliments on it. Thank you so much

Leech: “Like your scissors are hungry but they’re only trying to snack on the hair” Why do we actually understand this language?

Plien: YES BRAD!!! I just did the cut on my 2 b/c hair and it looks amazing. Even my boyfriend was in awe Thanks a lot

Kathy Anderson: Thanks Brad! My hair is too short for this tutorial to work properly, but it was perfect for a nice trim on my sorta-layered wavy purple hair. You rule, duder!

La Artale: Hey … Amazing! I’m a guy and have long hair, usually 1 length about 12” (extensions of course) long so today I searched for another way to keep the overall length and to have an easy wash, diffuse and wear style that can blow in the wind and still look great. WOW … love it and you for sharing such a great, easy style. Thank you, thank you, thank you. THE BEST!

jbelly222: I just did this cut and am so happy! I know you told me not to, Brad, but it’s so cute!

Octavia: Since I don't really like my boring staright ass hair, I've decided to give this one a try. and I must say that I absolutely love it omg!!! I'm so happy rn It came out perfectly, like straight from the hair saloon! I started to like my hair again thanks to you Brad, you're amazing! love you <3

lily g.: I know it's scary af to cut your own hair but this tutorial is it !! haven't cut mine in ages and I was so nervous but it came out so cute bless u brad n good luck to anyone else cutting their hair !

Sambina: Brad, I destroyed my hair your instructions were great, I’m just so hair challenged. I mostly screwed up when I decided I needed to try and cut my bangs short. I’m so embarrassed lol.

scumonjakesshoe: I followed this tutorial AND MY HAIR LOOKS FLAWLESSSS thank you brad ♥️

Bangtan B2UTY: Thank you so much Brad I ended up impulsively chopping at my waist length hair on new year's eve and I ended up looking like a mushroom at the top of my head, I knew if anyone could fix it, it would be you ♥️ at least now it has some texture Ilysm

Emma's plants: The great thing about having curly hair is that you can do an at-home shag haircut and make it look decent because the curls hide away the mistakes :)

Emma: Just tried this and omg I love it, first time I did a haircut on myself lol but it turned out great, thanks Brad!!

rachelle monbéck: Thank you! I think my hair turned out beautifully thanks to your help ‍♀️

Caitlin Campbell: My mom followed your tips and cut my hair. Turned out fabulous!! Thank you!!

Jennifer Shapiro: Almost a year ago I did this haircut but I found a video that sectioned it off in small pieces and it took hours to get a similar look … I’m going to use your video for now on omg. You made it look so stress free I can’t believe I didn’t see this video

Sophia Kovtun: I would love to get this haircut done professionally but I just don’t trust my local hairdressers... let’s just say I had a bad experience before. I feel like I will do it myself after my prom EDIT: I got curtain bangs AND I LOVE THEM.

Misty Music Studio: Excellent vid! I probs won’t try this myself but I feel like I can get a non-professional friend to do this on me lol. Love watching you getting excited about hair too, the passion is real

Yasmin Anna Gloria: Thank you! That's great tutorial. Now I'm confident enough to do it myself

Georgie Leaman: my hair was already different lengths due to it breaking off in the past so I wanted a way to get it looking mice and healthy without cutting too much hair off. I’ve just tried this and i’m so amazed at the results, its like i was always meant to have this hair cut!!

Kat H: Thank you for the tutorial! I have massively thick red wavy hair, and I was basically forced to cut my own hair after going to SEVERAL salons (pre 2020) and paying $60-$110 for a terrible haircut!! Once I got over the idea that I was {gasp} cutting my own hair, it felt exhilarating!! I did try to get another professional haircut or 2, and they just butchered it again. Sad face. I don't know why it's so hard to find a stylist that can deal with my thick wavy hair?! So recently my hair has grown out of control long and is trying to smother me in my sleep, so I hopped on here to find another tutorial. There are quite a few, and I usually like the "dry cut" method first, but you made this look way too easy and I just loved your enthusiasm for the hair cut that it made me super excited!! Also maybe impatient, because I, too, went to my fabric shears and they kinda sucked for my hair, but the end result is pretty darn good! I had to divide the first pony into 2 lol. I also did a longer version, then straight ironed it to see what exactly I had done, and made a few unnecessary cuts, but over all I'm pretty ecstatic with the result, and for free! Thank you again!!

Sarah mellott: I tried this and it did work. But I find it hilarious how Brad goes from, simple to complicated so quickly , like " OK now just layer it simply by directing it to the opposite side and cutting at this angle while measuring it against your first cut, then going up 2 inches to thin, but only on the heavy parts". Like people know what their doing haha. I have a very slight body wave to my natural hair, so I don't have to style it at all. I just can wash and go. I would say you need some moderate skills to do the thinning and layering. Lucky I'm Brad Mondo trained for years lol. And it looks great I'm proud of myself . It was scary.

Patrisha NotPatricia: I followed this to the end and it worked out so well. I love it

Laura Holder: Brad, myself and my daughter (12) love your videos. She really wanted a wolf cut, so I used this tutorial. I am not a hair dresser, but my friend is and she said.i did am amazing job, all because I followed every step of your tutorial. My daughter wants me to cut her bangs aittle shorter, but she has to prove that she can keep up with styling and maintenance of this cut first before I trim Amy more length off. Thank you so so much

felix: i finally got my mom to let me cut my hair like this, and i love it so much! i kinda messed up but i fixed it easily!
