How to Create an Easy Braided Updo – 3 Steps to – Teen Vogue

Sure is really good to you: do you break their hairline hi, I'm Elaine Teen, Vogue's beauty and health director? It'S my job to stay on top of all the latest trends, and you know all the tricks in the book. This is three steps to I'm here with the talented celebrity hair, stylist Mark Townsend, hello, darling, hello and our gorgeous model Esme, who has amazing hair that are kind of coveting right now and we are gon na get her ready for a holiday party so mark you Are the king of these awesome braided up views that you don't read carpet it? They look super difficult, but they're really easy to do I'll show you on as main and every girl will be able to do this at home. You know to get the braids in the updo. These aren't hidden braids. You want them on purpose. So, just take like a big chunk of hair work with your natural texture at your natural part, it's all gon na be pulled back. I'M gon na put you to work right. You read that piece you're not getting off the hook. All right put me to work Elaine. You braid that to you, okay, oh it is. We do you do in tight, or should they be able to lose pretty tight because you really want to see the braid Wow. Yours is gon na be better than mine and Phil. How are you doing? This is really good to you. Did you break their hair? A lot even though, as amis got blond hair, I'm going to use dark elastic because we want them to show up in the updo, and this is like a good combination of a romantic updo and something with a little bit of an edge. You don't wan na. Go all the way together again, we want that allows you to show that will hide the very very get going. Why don't you like, five or six, now that we've got these brains in I'll? Show you how to pull them back now? You don't want to have to worry about hiding them or blending them and to perfectly just pull them all back into a ponytail and they'll pop through and make this really cool texture, and we saw so many hairstyles on the runway. This season that worked very Punk. Inspired this is a take on that. It'S just a little bit prettier a pretty take on the punch, I'm gon na still eye on your leg. Pretty and Punk Esme win. So once you've got your ponytail in with all these braids. You can just twist it right up into a button this way and you've got all this great texture, but I'm one that likes to take it a step further. So if you take any kind of fabric just quickly tie it around and then even do one more braid with the piece of fabric that way just kind of pokes through every now and then and then just it up and then just grab your big hair pin Sure that in this is about kind of showing off all the work, you're done. Alright and again we keep talking about texture and we want to add a little bromance to this. So take your dry shampoo. I use the dub invigorating shampoo cuz. They use starch instead of powder. I really like the texture it gives without it. Looking like, I've got a can of hairspray on before, okay right and you don't want a perfect shape here either. That'S another important thing just play around until you get it exactly how you want to recap, step one grab, sections of hair about three to five inches braid it and use a dark elastic at the end step to take all of your hair into one big ponytail Step three twist it into a bun, maybe six hair pins to keep this in place and you're good to go. Now that we're done here, Esme is ready for her holiday party back to school, any event that you've got coming up yep. You look gorgeous alright guys.
