My go-to for every dirty hair day: THE DUTCH BRAID.

Once you get the Dutch braid down you can make beautiful masterpieces that are hilariously easy!

I did this video as a test shot to see how clear my camera is but I am going to post it anyway so you can start working on Dutch braiding and get a feel for how your hair works.

Hi guys Holly here I'm here with my BFF Alex Vause and we're about to do a hair tutorial, something I hesitate to even call it a tutorial, because you know me I'm no expert, but something that I get asked all the time is. How do you do your braids, because I love myself a Dutch braid and they are so easy now. I say that, but I've been practicing on myself for years, but I honestly believe that anybody can do this. I'M gon na start teaching Nick very soon, so he can do Noelle's hair. If it was me, I would have my hair either second day hair or already curled, like like this kind of wave ish, just something with some grit pour some texture spray in there pour some dry shampoo, give it something to hold on to so. I'Ve parted her hair into two sections, so we have essentially piggy tail braids going on right now and I'm assuming you can do a French braid. I'Ve got my fingers crossed if you're watching me, you can do a French braid, because you know to do a French braid you're gon na take a small section at the top of her part and you're gon na break it down into three now. This is where you would normally start braiding and folding each over one another and picking up additional hair as you go down, but instead of going over one another we're going to go under. So you take your piece of hair and you go under that piece of hair, pull it all tight again under this piece of hair under so our braid has started, but it almost looks like the braid is sitting on top of the hair, because in a French Braid style, all the pieces go in. All the pieces are sitting on top with a Dutch braid, so we're gon na pick up some additional hair pick some up on this side. You know this looks kind of messy and it will I mean it will look. Sometimes a little bit messy when you're first starting. This is hard for me to do because I'm doing it for the first time on her head and I'm not gon na say it's easy, because it's not! But the thing about my style of braiding is that, at the very end, when we get all this hair incorporated we're gon na pull this out. So it's so nice and loose that you'll never really notice the imperfections. Okay! So we're down to the bottom, where there's just three strands left so like a regular braid you're going to just braid braid, but you're going underneath so watch me under under under with a normal braid. You would be going over over okay, I'm going to take a black elastic. You can use a black elastic if you have dark hair. Like me, or my friend, Alex you can use a clear elastic if you have light hair and you're gon na tie it off and you're not gon na go down to the tip is also not gon na put your elastic on too tight put it. So it's still moldable like it's holding the hair tightly secure late, but it's moldable because now we're gon na pull that elastic down quite a bit and that's gon na give you this extra loose area to pull your braid out. I start from the bottom and I work my way up and you pull each section of the braid as loose as you can without losing the integrity of the braid. I can do mine really loosely if you've ever seen. My Instagram, my braids, can get like huge. I can get a huge French braid because my hair just holds because I have all that texture spray in it all that dry shampoo and it's usually second third, fourth day hair. So that's about as loose as I can go with her before she starts losing too much of the hair from the braid, but doesn't that look so pretty I'm not sure if it's showing up well on camera, but in person it's such a flat fat braid and It looks absolutely beautiful and from here you can make so many updos you can do a faked milkmaid braid, where you wrap the braids around the back. You could do a bun and wrap the edge, depending on the length of hair, wrap the edge of your braid around the bun there's just a number of styles that I use every single week. I use them every single week because nothing holds like a dirty braid and desings is easy. Once you get that Dutch braid down to throw in your hair. Before I had my bangs, I used to wear them on the front of my head all the time. So this is just my basic step, so if you guys can go Dutch braids get that down. I'M gon na show you all the simple hairdos that I do that get your hair up out of your face away from baby fingers and make your life just so much easier on fourth day dirty hair.
