Down my generation going downhill is wiping out. Meanwhile,

Nessa Boo: Went back to old school grease they told me it wasn't good for my hair but my hair did fine with it growing up

DOLL.ov.POETRII: I stopped listening because fine haired type 4 naturals are basically non-existent to the whole movement. Everyone assumed that nearly all naturals had thick, dense hair with coarse strands and I couldn't figure out why I kept getting product buildup more often than some other naturals. Now, I only use raw shea butter and mini twists and my hair is growing like grass!

patrice murray: As a licensed hair stylist and certified Trichologist, if you know your hair. Do whatever gets you to your hair goal. If you're not a hair person, then seek professional help ONLY. But do your homework when finding these ppl. These influencers are NOT licensed in any form and we did just fine without all these extra extra products. And grew hair down our backs. If you need oil on your scalp, oil your scalp.

Danielle Vaughn: Just have to do your own research, trial and error. Never had an issue growing my hair, but it definitely needed more respect and love. Changed to no relaxers. Shampoo and condition once a week. Oil and grease on roots and ends. Spritz leave-in conditioner on the rest. Let air dry. Pineapple silk wrap at night. Leave alone till next wash day. Trim every 3 months. She's Respected, Loved, Thicker, Softer and Healthier. Just have to do what works for you.

BranBranShenanigans: Finally somebody said it! Our parents and grandparents hair grew perfectly fine and healthy with all that extra stuff.

gemma brackeen: Looking at my Blue magic in my cabinet lol

bre Dagner: Facts on facts!!!! Do what works for your hair ...

Why Ask: Brushing your hair everyday stimulates your scalp and also helps with growth. Our Moms and Grandmas brushed everyday and braided at night and their hair was thick and healthy.

Dani Dani: Yep been natural for 10 years now and haven’t followed most of this advice. Once I stopped caring about trying to grow hair to my butt like I had something to prove , that’s when I was the happiest with my hair and it thrived the most. I had a lot of fun with it, and now that I’m locking my hair I feel even more free from all the arbitrary rules.

Diamonds Glitter: After all the hair care regimens I've studied and tried to follow, I should have a 4 year degree to hang on my wall now. It's tew much!!

foda99productions: Been natural all of my life using grease, silicone and sulfates.

Aisha Israel: Blue magic got my hair GROWING

Jasmine Jazi JAZ: I'm so proud of my gworls in these comments❤ wear your natural, wigs, relaxers whatever ITS YOUR HAIR YOUR CHOICE❤

Team -Ton Moe: Everybody's hair is diff.... literally, it's what we eat!!!

New Account, Who Dis'?: I don't listen. I'm over it. We have the most resilient hair but we treat it like glass. Not me. My hair is great and growing. I still love my wigs and adding hair into styles but I don't follow those steps.

Amber Black: I love my silicone and sulfates. Can't go without oil and butter. These people will have you trying stuff and will not care how it affects you or your hair.

Issa Secret secret: me I use towels to dry my hair, I get silk presses all the time, Dont wear bonnets, and no protective styles. My curls are still here and my hair is waist length. all those rules actually broke my hair

Asia: I've been telling my folk for over 20 yrs, "LEAVE IT ALONE AND IT WILL GROW!" DAMN.

Indiegirl007: Honestly....I flat iron my hair once a month in what I call a "hard press" for years. Hair is past my bra strap. I started actively 'protective styling' last year, and honestly, that's where I am seeing breakage and loss of hair. Do what works with your hair.

Lady Capricorn: Never listened in the first place. Just watched and laughed at them doing all manner of things so they can continue getting free stuff and get paid. That's okay, me and my hair is doing just fine. Took care of it before YouTube and these ridiculous so called influencers and I will continue doing so my way

TheInfamous Jellybean: Blue magic, warm water, and a brush. That’s all my grandma needed for my hair.

kylia2009: The movement was suppose to be about embracing who we naturally are and loving ourselves... yet it became about texture, getting the perfect curl, and marketing these expensive products. I tapped out a long time ago

D@kota Lenn0x: When I was natural my hair wouldn't grow past my shoulders and there was a lot of breakage. The only time it was manageable was when it was wet. When it was wet, it was very easy to handle 3 different textures. When my hair was dry, no matter how much I oiled my scalp and moisturized, my hair was always tangled and brittle. I've been relaxed now for 3yrs and my hair is just pass bsl. If only I knew how to do protective styles myself, I'm pretty sure it would be longer. For now I just wear a bun, or 2 braids on the sides.

Dolphins will take over: When they said no grease/Vaseline I was out

lololo lolol: Different things work for different people not everyone hair is the same and has the same tolerance toward products.

tee: I thought oils and butters were a mainstay in natural hair community? But I will say I stopped with excessively using them things and my hair is thriving Length wise though your hair is gonna do what it does. Best thing is work on health over length, if your hair is meant to be long it will get there cause it's healthy.

Maya V: I stopped long time ago... My mom did not have all this fancy stuff for my hair.. Good old fashion grease and water!!!

kcototheyoyoyo: I don’t! The “No oil/butters” thing had me really confused. Like did they do a hair transplant or something?

Tanesha Turner: The Natural Hair community pushed me on my bike of training wheels until they fell off I at least instilled the fundamentals and techniques to accomplish whatever hairstyle I want to myself. I'm thankful I found Whitney and Melanin Hair Care because of it. Now since we ain't listening to rules we can actually be a community of women now loving their own hair!!!

Christina Watts: I been stopped listening around the mid 2010's. Once you get the basics/foundation down for what works for YOUR hair, you're good.

Nourish Evolve Thrive: Thank you!!!and I’m natural as well and my hair is growing thriving you don’t have to do all of that just do what works for you hair.

Shateir: Meee! I just do what my hair likes. Changed my whole perspective on my hair and actually enhanced my love for my natural hair. By doing me I've also let go of unessasary stress about it.

Mimi: Choosing what works for me. Balancing my oils, using everything that feels right for mine. All three sisters haircare is as different as our personalities. Doing our own thing.

Hadassah Mohale: "follow for more hair tips" But... Thought we're done listening

NeW BR33D: THISSS!!!! Every individual person should learn their own hair's love language. Whatever is trending should never lure a person away from what they know works for them...

Khumura Khumnetertauset: Yessss ladies! Owning your crowns means......making your own rules... and YES, ANY techniques, products, accessories, etc that WORK for you is legit......period. NEVER apologize for your methodology. Real creativity has NO RULES.

AriAryAyy: Facts. I’m sorry I didn’t hear you over my protective styling, blue magic grease, 2-4 week wash day, and blow dryer.

Fayth Nhim: They say your hair won't grow if you don't clip the split ends! Well, mine grow just fine and always have!!

Kai Kulture: Amen! I have been natural for almost 7 years and I listened to all that shit. This year my product buildup was so bad I had to use clarifying shampoo which the natural hair community was against. Sad stuff! I have my new routine on my channel if anyone wants to check it out!

Ellise Richardson: I learned this years ago. Do what works for you!

mello1: Been saying this for years. Thank you. Everyone had a head full of hair back in the day. So, why change?

Felicia Wilson: Me!!! I stopped listening years ago

S M: Right. People love to run their mouth on social media

Talisa Brewer: I sware all I have been doing is washing and blow dry two braids and let me tell you working as a nurse and being a mom it's been growing pretty well lol

MacyPooh196: Honestly the second I was told I couldn’t get box braids I knew I had to stop listening to those people. Box braids saved my hair when I got my last horrible relaxer that damaged my hair and made it fall out. Box braids legitimately saved my hair and going natural helped substantially. But I never did anything that people told me. I still use Cantu curl defining conditioner because it works for me. It works for me (along with the other products) and it helps me.

Melissa Officinalis: I wholeheartedly agree! Less is more and you do what works for you, just make sure your scalp is healthy. I’m def a lazy natural but you can see me

Opulence_Prime: My hair likes heat. I had to stop listening to other ppl and pay attention to what my hair responded to.

Sharp Cheddar: When you literally just have a fast growth rate and naturally large follicles, but ppl think manipulating your hair till kingdom come is gonna change genetics…

1SK: BLUE MAGIC ,, I put that shii on everything

Naomie Armand: Listen to me, I have had shitty hair my whole life but I've also been vitamin deficient even taking multivitamins my whole life too. So recently I started taking 2x as much vitamins as normal and my hair and skin feel extremely different. My hair feels strong, there's no more shower breakage. I can run my hands through my hair without seeing 20 strands of hair, (only 1 or 2 or sometimes none now!) Please remember your hair is the same as your skin, your teeth, your nails, they depend on your diet!!! Get your iron up! Your vitamin D and B vitamins. My hair is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. The daily recommended amount of something is based on what the FDA sees as the average person which may not always include black bodies, bigger bodied or tall people.

Thomas channel: Never listened. They wasn’t natural when it wasn’t cool with me all those years so why would I listen to someone who loving themselves is a trend?!?‍♀️✊

Sharon Carson: I stop listening 2 years ago, the best thing I've done for my hair

🦂Scorpio complex🦂: My hair has always grown fast and when all the natural hair stuff started coming out I was excited like a bihh was about to be out here looking like a wavy black rapunzel but alot of the products did damage to my hair. I'm in love with protective styles they are so versatile and wash and goes get boring. I don't give a pickle about sulfates or silicone and idk about anyone else but I'm using oils and butters to moisturize regularly on top of deep conditioners . I'm not rapunzel but my hair is a bit longer then mid back or below my breast line so I'm doing something right.

RandomPerson101: Girl yes that's what I'm doinnnn I get to wear my natural hair out all the time and it's growing and it's FUN

Scarlet's Letter: Top 3 things for everyone to grow hair: Nutrition- get enough calories, protein, & take multivitamin & fish oil. Exercise- gets heart rate up & improves circulation to the scalp. Minimize breakage- limit heat, tightly twisted styles, etc. Topical stuff like oils won't have much impact, unless it helps u detangle more easily without breakage

Ni'Chole Dixon Moody: I used to use grease but as an adult I cannot put anything directly on my scalp unless I want sores the next day. I am loc'd now but, I stopped listening and just thought of it as useful tips. Not something that I had to do in order for my hair to flourish. Find whats best for you abd be consistent. That's the best thing I think anyone can do for their hair.

Enyah: My hair actually is growing thick, healthy and long because I have been listening to the natural community. My hair love being washed with shampoo and conditioner. It is growing like crazy now.

Paige Whitfield: I have stopped listening to the internet for my natural hair and hair type. Don't fall into the hype ladies/gents!

Jojo Angú: I NEVER attempted no oils, etc. The best thing I found for my hair was oil and butter heavy. Alllllll the inches these heads in here grew on that stuff! Ahem. We cool right here. #hydrathermalnaturals

Monique Green: I finally got to a phase in my hair growth journey that ima use and do what ever it takes for my hair to grow stay Moisturized and healthy .. if that includes mineral oils , sulfate and Silicone then that’s what it’s gone be

Juanetta Jeffries: I’m so glad you made this! I’m so tired of all these videos with for natural hair and all they ingredients! Hell who can keep up?!

Pabi: No oils no butter left me liberated. Just shampoo, condition and bounce. No more half day wash days. I'm sticking to this, had enough of oil dripping down my shirt while at the grocery store.

Yuna: Yes i wore wigs since I was like 15 I’m 30 and my hair grew my natural hair look way better plus it’s too hot for all that glue

Pontsho Priscilla: I never listened. I've been using hair grease, oils and silicone conditioners; protective hairstyling and trimming my hair once a year since forever. I only listen to my hair and no one can tell me otherwise!

s. tesfamariam🐪: everybody’s routine is different, which is okay! personally, protective styling (literally only mini twists) and oils is a must for my hair

Ana Castillo: I definitely stopped listening years ago and my hair actually started growing at it's normal rate

Purple Unicorn: I listened because it actually worked for me and I never had relaxers but would straighten my hair every 3 weeks. The natural hair movement also taught me how to eat properly for better hair. People who are angry just don't know how to filter info and stop watching videos of folks that don't have the same hair or that push every product.

k.p.: I use oils and butters!

T.M. W.: . If I ain grease my chiren hair and body my big mama would be rolling over in her grave...

Sasha Love: And when I say growing just fine… whenever I notice something needs to be done then I do it. And it works for me

MrsMak: I’m white with what my mama called unruly hair growing up. I learned every trick in the book to make my hair “white”. I’m almost 40 and IDGAF anymore. It is what it is. Someone lied in my family tree cause... damn. This shit is exhausting. White hairdressers don’t know what to do and black hairdressers won’t see because I’m white. So, here I am lost in the middle.

Green Lighttrrop: Thank you!!! I swear I be doing nothing and my hair almost to my ass

Ms. Mitchell: Yep I stopped listening to the natural hair community a year ago. All I do is wash condition and style with a foam or gel once a week. My hair has never been more hydrated and soft! The natural hair community/YouTube university had my hair dry, brittle and coated ‍♀️

M A Y A M: I won't be listening to anyone who doesn't know the science of hair anymore lol.

Cactus Flower: Facts though sis! I don’t know how grease and oil became an enemy to us all the sudden, we grow up on this stuff and weren’t complaining then so why the issue now?! Man I grease my scalp and my feet!

Linda J: I think it's a matter of just keeping your hair on your head without it breaking off and how you can achieve that.

FrauMase: All those " natural" and homemade products made me itch!!!! Shampoo, condition, leave in, and Grease!!!! Best hair in 20 years being natural

Breezzee Shoulders: I made three attempts at the natural hair thing . Takes lots of time and energy. I know it can work but it was not for me. I don't use oils and butters and creams, just a serum which works perfectly. It is very versatile. No relaxer. Just a flat iron everything three weeks

JupiterLove87 X: Ion know what Natural Hair Community yall in these days cause when I was coming up, butters, oils, & grease w/ 6-8 week trims was THEE way.

Merrybandoruffians: I was a person who never used a lot of oils and butters* even when they were telling us to slather our heads in oils and butters. Now all of a sudden they’ve flipped it. Moral of the story - just do what works for you. *I’m 4b/c but I have really fine, fluffy hair so ive been spraying my hair with water and using a little light oil (sweet almond, olive, jojoba) for years and it’s more than enough.

Nicole Heaven: I think most of the natural hair community is fiercely supportive of the use of raw oils and butters in their hair. It’s possible to create a healthy hair regimen that centers on the use of oils and butters, and it’s possible to create a healthy hair regimen that centers on the use of more water soluble products with hold (I.e. gels and/or mousse). And a lot of people use both, anyway. I just want people to know that we have options and there are women who have benefitted from doing it either way, and even mixing and matching.

Foolish Wisdom: I wash my hair once a month and leave it alone. It’s doing just fine.

Cocoa Monroe: I started making my own path and products and left everything else for everyone else. ‍♀️

S. W: Amen to that!!! If I come across one more hair growth video. Do what works for you!

MacyPooh196: I once saw someone say that we couldn’t get box braids because it was bad for your hair and I knew then that I had to stop listening to people. Box braids legitimately saved my horrible hair when it broke off from a bad relaxer.

Mona *4: Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I love your generation. All NATURALLLLLL!!!! Thank you!!!

Cmama: My hair thrives and loves blue magic. It stays shiny and moist for up to 2 months with cowashes and protective styles

Forever Song: Yes! I brought back my Indian hemp blue magic a few years ago and baby it gets me through these Ohio winters. ❄️

StayFaithful: No more. They had my hair falling out. Went back to my regular routine and my hair is recovering, filling out, and growing beautifully!!

TreSeur Felton: Thank You getting ready to try your treatment for my hair!!!❤❤❤

Who's that girl? It's Tiff!!: Yeah I been natural my whole life and silicones have saved my life!! A lot of these so-called "natural hair products" have absolutely zero slip whatsoever, just a bunch of heavy butters and oils mixed with water and make your hair all frizzy and wierd. Then be charging people a arm and a leg for it lol smh, no thanks, I'll stick with my six dollar leave in, it does my hair just fine.

MichelleMyBelle: I do six week trims. Whether it is the salon or a self trim. My hair looks healthier than when I don’t do it.

monica hatchett: Went back to using grease about a month ago..... my hair loves it!!! Don't understand why ever stopped using it!!!

Servant Leader: Facts! The blue magic coconut oil does well in my hair

Bria Monyae: Right I was about to throw my products away but I was like that’s not my experience let me keep these products

JerseyKanna: ya natural hair is so unique that you gotta find what works for you! if it makes your hair beautiful and shiny, use it! I was so scared to use gel and certain products but those products always make my hair . my hair is still gorgeous as ever.

Émeline: I stopped using all these disgusting products like 2 years ago, and my hair is doing so good now. The only "extra" thing I use is one of these exfoliating brushes when I shampoo

Wilba Gomes: Fr fr Natural EVERYTHING is everything!! Beautiful! Keep up smart lady

Candi: When you leave your hair ALONE it grows! They insist on pushing products ‍♀️ it’s dumb! The only thing I agree with is to NOT blow dry often or dry after it air drys ….wash once a month throw in plats grease/ oil lil ACV or conditioner ever so often… REAL BASIC my child and I have thick loooonnngggg hair

iloveeeerihanna: Literally don’t do nothing to my hair. I’m blessed
