Crazy Super quick and easy updo for prom or special occasions inspired by Grace Kelly and Gibson Girls easy to recreate with even short, medium, or long hair

Hey this is Sam you're, watching pretty peachy and today Mia doing a super super simple prom, /, wedding updo that is suitable for any type of hair, really short to my length too, and I wanted to kind of do this hairstyle, because I've done a few times Before when my hair was pretty short, it was about here, so you do need to be able to do it into a ponytail at least just the very back of your hair. So maybe this type of hair length would be the minimum you'd have to do, but it's really simple: you don't need to pin curl, you don't need any specific things like donuts or something like that. All you need is a hair elastic and some bobby pins and I'm going to be kind of pumping it up a little bit for prom or something a semi, formal or a wedding with using these beautiful valve. Awesome side comes at the end, so just to get started um you can kind of see when my hair is like. This is how my hair is like completely natural. After years and years of side party, my hair kind of goes up and over on its own, but you can just start combing it out, and this hair look was kind of inspired by certain grace. Kelly looks and also like the Gibson girl looks and those kind of really classic elegant hairstyles. So I'm going to get started just by brushing all my hair back and then just taking a teasing comb like this, i'm going to start taking section by section and putting it back so from the back here to the front, i'm going to start fat combing it. So just taking small sections and giving it a little tease, this is going to give you a little more volume. So i'm going to do all that cuz, it's going to be a little process and i'll come back okay. So i'm back with my crazy teased, hair, and so now i'm going to do is take a little hair elastic, i'm using brown. Just so it's easier for you guys to see, but you would obviously use on whatever color matches your hair. So I'm just going to kind of brush back with my fingers. All of my hair. I don't really want to deflate on my back combing that I've done and I've kind of teased all of my body at hair as well just a little bit with a larger brush out with the teasing comb just loosely kind of sweeping everything back. You can add a little bit of spray. This is the sleek and shine spray by by Garnier. So now I have my hair in a ponytail just like that. Actually gon na turn around. So you can see what i'm doing. I know you guys if you watch my videos, you know that I really ever turn around for some reason. I'M going to turn around so I can explain first what I'm gon na do and now turn around and show you, because I'm worried at the audio won't be so good with my back turned. So I'm basically gon na take my hair roll it around and stick it through my ponytail. So I'll explain! Oh just like this just kind of rolling it up. Take kick your finger and make a little separation in your ponytail. Probably send it a little bit and then stick all of your hair under you, have spread it out and keep on kind of rolling and twisting just like that, and now you can start taking some bobby pins and just kind of securing them in place. So, just taking bobby pins, i'm using blonde bobby pins, opening them up and securing them down. So basically, because you have that hair elastic in there, it's going to give you a lot of support and structure, and you can anchor your pins through the hair elastic. So if your hair is very short, you might find that you had problems previously was getting the little flyaways and not having enough structure, but the hair elastic kind of gives you something to anchor the pins into, and also it gives you a little bit of volume. Is the bulk of the hair elastic, so it kind of gives the illusion that you have a little bit more hair than you do so I'm going to kind of finish up, pinning up all the back and then I'll show you how to add the flowers. Okay. So this is kind of how it looks like right now. I really like this hairstyle. I think it's super like romantic and chic and elegant, and it totally reminds me of something that Grace Kelly would wear it's like to catch a thief or something like that. Just kind of her slicked back kind of look. She has, you can add some bold kind of statement earrings if you like, but what I'm going to do now is go to my bathroom and get a hand, mirror and kind of check out the back and see how i did with pinning it and make sure. There'S no fly away, it's our little bits here and there and I'm going to come back and show you how to add the flowers. Okay, so I checked it out and it's actually pretty good. It'S not so messy, as I thought it would be about seeing the mirror. So just to kind of recap: um. I only used one hair elastic and 85 bobby pins. So it's super easy. It would be maybe five minutes to do so if you're kind of in a rush or you don't really know what to do for your prom. This is a great love to do, or even like a wedding or maybe a very important business meeting, or something like that. Like a job interview, it's a very elegant and professional look, but it so has like a bit of glamour, which I like it's one of those hairstyles to have in your repertoire of hairstyle. To do quick and easy kind of, like my pinup hair style, with the scarf, so just to kind of give you a look of what looks like that, and now I'm going to take these bell blossom flowers and kind of show you how to punch it up. A little bit and these come in a bunch of different colors, oh I'll, put the link in the bottom bar below and you can even get them to kind of match your dress, if you're, if you're, lucky enough to to get a color, that's kind of similar To what they have also, it can manage to read lips. So if you want to go that way, it would look super elegant with me like a white satin gown or for weddings. It look really really beautiful. So I'm going to show you how I place these so you're going to much just kind of line it up here and push it down like that and then take the other one and lined it up and push it down. Ok, so again, I'm going to go and check to see my placements just right and I'll be right. Back, I'm checking out my bathroom, mirror and kind of smoothing everything out. What you can kind of do is take a cheese and comb and kind of lightly brush things back. If you have a little bit of a wave in your hair like I do, and you don't really like it, then you can kind of flat iron a little bit or maybe do a pin curl set and to brush it out before you do the style and Then I just took some extra hair spray and sprayed back with it a little bit to smooth away the flyways, and let me give you kind of a final look. Okay, so, as you can see, the bell blossom combs, really kind of give it that extra polished. Look if you weren't going to use the Gomes, then I recommend using a couple more bobby pins to kind of smooth things out, and I added a little pearl earring here, just to kind of give it a finishing touch - and I thought also rather cute earring might Be something like this: it's a little diamond or like faux diamond a flower, and these were actually my prom earrings, which I really adore, and i think i spent like thirty-five dollars on them, which at the time was like a huge like big splurge. So I've had these for five years now they look like that. I got them that Aldo. I warned them in a few videos before and I really really love them like totally worth it. I'Ve worn them so many times, they're, amazing and yeah, and I thought it would be kind of a fun idea um to make a post on my blog about my prom. It was five years ago, so it wasn't as vintagey styled as I am now. It was more a little more mainstream kind of high school look, but I fully encourage all of you vintage lovers out there to not be shy and to just go all out, because this is your problem. This is like a memory you're gon na have for so long, and you just want to kind of have fun with it and not care just be yourself so yeah. I posted some pictures on my blog of my prom dress that my grandmother actually em sewed. For me, so we can check that out and the inspiration of the time for that dress as well. I posted some pictures, maybe a dress that i would like to wear now. It is prom with my work. I do makeup, and so I have all these teenage girls coming in, who are getting their prom makeup done and I'm just so jealous, I'm like ah where's your prom. Can I come too I'm gon na do prom again again and again I wish every day or every year there was a prom, but you have to kind of just grow up. I guess so I'll be doing people's hair makeup for prom and not going to problem. Instead, but I can live vicariously through them, so if you have a special occasion, a wedding or prom check out this hairstyle. I hope you liked it leave any comments or feedback and the bottom bar below and yeah. I hope you have a great day, bye.

Fancylooks: You look absolutely gorgeous in this video. You always do, but your beauty stands out particularly strongly in this video, even before you finish your hairdo, which I will try on my self as I think is fantastic, very classy.

Violent Lullaby: I was actually wearing this kind of hairstyle to my graduation and I got so many compliments! Thank you for this amazing tutorial, you are just perfect! <3

swissmiss2584: I did this style for my wedding 7 years ago! My nana added a veil to a vintage rhinestone accented hair piece I found at an antique shop. I love it with the rose combs! Beautiful.

gpcampbell2: Great video as usual. I can use this great style for ballroom dancing. thanks for another great tutorial!!

luvmyhair2: What a fabulous hairdo! I'm going to try to wear it without the flowered combs as an everyday look to see how it looks on me---thanks!

Laura's Life: As soon as I watched this video I tried it out and I loved this hairstyle. I wore it out on the night of my birthday and my birthday trip to Bath and it never budged. I didn't use hairspray either. Great work as usual Sam. I love these easy updo's Keep it up.

Katy: I actually had my prom two days ago, and I went for Grace Kelly look too, but instead of a rolled look I did a French twist. I used the Belle Blossom "real rose" in peach. It went with my vintage repro Whirling Turban dress wonderfully :). My best guy friend's date, who was in one of the most revealing dresses I've EVER SEEN, a girl I've never met before, came up behind me just to tell me she liked my dress. Says a lot for class and modesty, regardless of the wearer :).

Amy Ransdell: I love this style. I believe it's called a Gibson Roll. I wear this style to work all the time :) Super easy and you are totally right; extremely elegant!

shimmygirl linda: nothing wrong with you, you are very pretty and I love your videos xx

Anette: I found out if you make your hair super curly with curlers on beforehand(for long hair like mine) it's easier to roll your hair, and it looks romantic and cute + a little playful. I'm gonna style my hair like that for my sister's wedding this Saturday May 18. She's having her wedding in Bolsena, Italy so I need something fast and easy to do, so this is a savior. :)
