A woman who wears your hair according to their body type just looks like they know what they want out of life like I don't know how else to say that hi everybody welcome back to my channel happy Thursday. If you have never seen me before in your life, my name is Brittany, gray, I'm owner and stylist at beach, vibes beauty studio. Today, you guys we have a very important topic to discuss, and that is how to choose the correct, hairstyle or haircut for your body type. Yes, not your face shape, not your hair type, but your body type. Okay, before I get into that, if you are not subscribed to my channel, I seriously don't know what you're waiting for hit the subscription button and then hit the bell symbol. So that way, you don't miss a video with every video that I make. I have to make a little disclaimer, but especially videos like this, like what's gon na look best on you or how you know stuff like that, I always have to get the disclaimer okay into your hair. My life goes on. I don't really care what you do with your hair. Most people, don't care like the world doesn't care whatever you want to do with your hair. You know: do you boo? Basically, the hair police are not gon na come and lock you up. If you have a haircut or something that does not go with your body type or your hair type or your face shape, you know it's not that deep. Most of you get it, I would say 99 % of you get it, but then there's always gon na. Be that 1 % of people who, just oh God, they just they can't go on with their lives. If somebody says something that they don't agree with, so yes giving the disclaimer. This is all for educational purposes. Everything that I'm talking about today is scientifically proven to be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So there's a science behind it. Okay, don't shoot the messenger. If you have the wrong haircut for your body type. Okay, don't shoot the messenger anyway. So, let's get into it! Now so there are three main body types and you may hear about these body types whenever or if you ever research, anything about personal training, about fitness things like that there are three different basic body types. Obviously everybody has their unique body type and shape some of us fit into one and not the other blah-blah-blah-blah you get the picture, so this is just a general description and so we're gon na get into the first body type. Now, of course, you guys, I have my handy notebook here, somebody somebody once wrote in the comments like. Oh you know when you see the notebook, it's gon na, be a good video, you're right, you're right girl, I think you're, a girl. I think from what I remember you are totally right. This is about this. Is this is gon na? Be a super enlightening video, so yes, notebook here, first body type that we're gon na talk about is tall and lanky. Now for women, that's gon na be about 510 and taller; okay, so you're taller than most the most people you're taller than average, okay and obviously like I said just because you're tall doesn't mean you're, necessarily lanky or anything like that. Anything like that. But yes, this is your general body type! Okay, if you are a supermodel watching this you're, probably this you're, probably this body type, okay, if Giselle Bundchen, if you're, watching this you're this body type. So, as you can see I you know, I created some beautiful artwork here right, so this is depicting an example of what you don't want to wear. So if you are generally tall like if you're kind of like taller than average, then short hair is just gon na make you look towering, you know if you're going for that kind of lid, then you know, like I said, do you boo, I'm not mad at You, but what's gon na look more flattering, is if your hair at least touches your shoulders, and if you want to have super long hair, then that looks beautiful on tall girl, tall women as well. Also, these same rules apply to men who are taller than average. Okay, the shorter tighter your haircut is the more tall and towering you're gon na look, which I guess some people might want, that kind of look, but for men, if you have longer hair, if, like a longer haircut, that's gon na be more flattering on your body Type, okay, so the next body type is the average body type. Okay. Now for a women, the average body type is gon na, be your height is gon na be between five foot. Five to five foot nine, the average body type is kind of like the oval face shape of body types. Okay. So if your average, then you can pretty much get away with anything. Okay, you can get away with short hair long hair um, whatever kind of hair voluminous hair flat hair pin straight hair. You know: the-the-the, the world is your oyster. If you have the average body type or average body height, that kind of thing. Okay, so I drew what I thought was a good depiction of an average kind of girl all right - and this is her with short hair. As you can see, it's still proportionate to her body, because generally she has more of an athletic body type and average body height. That kind of thing. So her her body is like proportion, you know like her hips and shoulders and waistline and all that kind of stuff. So you can pretty much get away with anything. You want, if you're, between five five and five nine and you're not super like stocky, and that kind of thing or you're not super lean and tall. The next body type is gon na be what's considered short and sturdy now for women, you're gon na be about five foot four and under, and you just have. What would you call like like shorter bones like shorter neck, shorter torso, shorter arms, shorter legs, shorter everything? Okay, so if you are short stocky type like for me technically, I guess, like height wise, I would fall. I fall under petite at five foot, two okay, but my body type, I'm kind of weird, because I'm between average and and petite just because my body type is average. I am basically like a shrunken version of an average-sized woman. If that makes sense, like I'm not very stocky, that kind of thing I'm definitely not tall and lanky, and I try to follow these rules for my height. So if you are short Stocki like you, have kind of like a shorter neck and like you're more big bone, that kind of thing you don't want hair, that's super flat on top and then voluminous at the bottom are super long, because that's just gon na drag Your whole lip down make you look even more stockier make you look even more shrunken that kind of thing it's just gon na drag you down. Okay, what it's gon na look better on, you is, if you have shorter haircut, doesn't have to be super short. I just do short hair Thomas lady, but doesn't have to be super short, but shorter, hair off the shoulders looks better because it's gon na make your neckline look longer. It'S gon na make you look more. You know your your decollete hair, it's just it's just more flattering on you and then, if you want to do some volume on top, then it's gon na balance out your figure and then make you look more proportionate. So you don't just look like super super shrunken down like Danny DeVito, okay, oh that sounds mean, but you don't want to look like him. Okay, if you're a girl right or maybe you do. Like I'm sorry. I know I didn't put my foot in my mouth while, oh just let me move on to the next topic, we discussed height in general body shape that kind of thing now we're gon na get more into your figure, the type of figure that you have. Okay, so again beautiful artwork here in my notebook, this is a woman who has more of a fuller figure if you're more curvaceous, if you're more of a plus-size girl. That kind of thing, if you have a fuller figure, what's gon na look better on, you is, if you have longer hair okay, doesn't have to be super long or you know anything like that, but just like longer, you want it to at least you know touch Your shoulders, don't even longer, I would probably start like about here, is when I have clients who have more of a full figure. I love doing like a haircut, that's like about here or even longer, not super super long, especially if they have very straight hair and it's just like very thin, not that kind of thing, but you know, like volume, diva, hair, okay, like your, you can go for It if you have more of a fuller figure and you're more curvy, okay, what isn't as flattering is, if you have super super short hair? Okay, because this is going to make you not look proportion because at the top you're super, like slim, like you know, if you looked at your silhouette, your hair is very short, very tight. That kind of thing, and then it's just not gon na look proportionate with your body fuller, coming out more. You know, I'm saying so, as you can see here. Look at these two women here and what do you think looks better like Dennis she just looked cuter like her hair is more proportionate with her like bust, and I'm like trying to think of, like the proper word to say it of her bust and, like her Hips and everything like that, like she looks sexier than her, just because no shade girl no shade to you, but it's just you know scientifically it's just because she looks more aesthetically pleasing to the eye where she doesn't. She looks like you know, they're wearing the same thing: okay, everything everything is exactly the same. She looks more like insecure or like reserved. She looks more like you know, her hair is blowing in the wind. That kind of thing, so she looks like she knows what she wants out of life. Let me just put it to you that way. Next, I drew two ladies who have more of a small or petite figure or you're yeah you're, just like a petite girl like something that would probably I would fall into this category right. So this is wrong. This is right! Okay, so if you are more on the petite side, okay, if you're slim, if you're petite or average body type and you're petite or even like more curvy body type and you're petite, you don't want hair. That is just like BAM like diva, hair, okay, like down to your butt like super long hair, you don't want hair, that's like too voluminous, because this hair is going to overpower your figure. Okay and you're. Just gon na look. Just I don't know like your hair. Is just it's just there, you know when it can be so much more okay, now, what's gon na look better on, you is, if you have hair that is proportionate to your body like this is huge humongous, big hair. Even if it's super long, like it's just a big body of hair, okay versus if your hair, smaller, is more proof, it's more proportionate to your body. Now I don't mean to say that if you're petite, you can't have long hair, but just think about this. If you are petite and you want to have really long hair like I have, I have clients sometimes where they just like. Oh, they just cannot cut an inch of their hair, like their hair can be like down to their butt crack okay or past day they're like oh, my gosh like please like just do it trim. I just want a small trim and like, of course I give them what they want, but you know if you're one of those girls that just holds on to just all this hair, you can have long hair if you're petite but bring it up to your waistline. Oh, my gosh bring that hair that long hair up to your waistline longest point and it's just gon na make you have like a beautiful hourglass figure. It just looks very flattering and your you still have like your very long hair. You know so you can have long hair and you know I'm not saying like. Oh, you have to cut your hair short if you're, if you're short or if you're, more petite on that kind of, if you're, a smaller woman, I'm just saying like a woman who wears your hair according to their body type just looks like they know what they Want out of life, like I don't know how else to say that okay, so that brings me to at the end of this video. If you enjoyed, it then hit thumbs up, and if you want to share it with your friends and family, because we are having important conversations here all about hair, okay, everybody has it or most people have a if you're blessed enough to have it, or maybe some People cut it off, or maybe some people just like grow, get bald after they get old. You know so many different circumstances, but for the most part everybody has hair on their head and I feel like everybody should know how to take care of it. They should just know about hair people, just don't really know about hair, but that's where I come in okay, so it's so important share with your friends share it with your family sure share it with your hairdresser as well. Leave me comments down below and let me know what you guys would like for me to film today. I do read all of my comments and I do take them into consideration when I choose what to film okay and as always, I'm here every Thursday every Saturday and sometimes on Tuesdays. But if I'm not here, they'll follow me on Instagram, snapchat, Facebook and Twitter and other than that, you guys will see me in my next video. So thank you so much for watching bye,

morcates: What if Danny Devito watches this :, (

Steph Lyndsey: I feel like long hair looks good on anybody as long as it's maintained but not everyone can pull off short hair like pixie cuts or bobs! Such a informative video Please do a video or series on different hair types (what products work best for each and what not to do)

Crystal Marie: I love how she isn’t afraid to talk about a woman’s figure instead of saying all size and women are beauty’s because we already know that everyone is beautiful but it’s nice for someone to come out and talk about ACTUAL body types to teach us what we want to really know about what looks more flattering on us. Thanks Britney!

Elise: Great vid as always <3 You should do a video on different hair oils and what oils actually penetrate the hair shaft, vs just sitting on it. I feel there is a huge misconception going on in the hair world for professionals and hair lovers alike, on whether or not coconut oil, argan oil, castor oil, etc actually nourish your hair, or just sits on top of your hair and makes it look oily.

Emily: Would love to see a video on sulfates/silicones. Are they really bad for your hair? Are all kinds bad or are certain kinds better or safer? They are found in a bunch of professional products, some that have actually been recommended to me by professional stylists. I find a lot of conflicting information online so I'm curious what your opinion/knowledge is as a professional.

ari lyzette: i fall under “short and stocky” and ive always known short hair looks best on me but i gotta have these inches girl, my small frame isn’t going to stop me from slaying 22inch hair

Rahc: This was so educational, I love it! I never heard of having hair fit your body type, I'll definitely look more into this. Be prepared for DMs from strangers sending you body pics asking what body type they are and how they should style their hair lol

KellyeRaiborn#TEXIT: I definitely agree I'm 5'10" and used to be very thin and had a Bob, but I hurt my back and the meds made me gain about 50 lbs I had been in the process of growing in long, my Mon kept telling me I was too old to have super long hair but I felt the long hair covered the extra weight , plus I have huge boobs and short hair just wasn't going to cut it. I've always looked at body type over face shape for me anyway having an oval face. My mom thinks anyone over 40 can't have long hair.

Lauren Lilley: I’m full figure and have been rocking out with my “P!nk” cut for 20 years. Lol. And i have compliments thrown at me every single day. I believe it’s the way you rock it, not body type.

Rosemary H.: I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for being candid and helping us learn about how to look our best!

Crystal Cooper: I absolutely LOVE your channel! You're so real and honest it's so refreshing! If you haven't already, you should do a video on how to do a bun/ messy bun because I am having some serious struggles

Krisztina Bajusz: Thank you so much! I am tall (5'11'') and I have a short bob..I always feel like something is off. It suits my face shape but not my body. now i know why :) love your videos <3

keepinitreal: I recommend Aly Art’s video on body types. She goes more into detail about it, there are 13 different body types. It’s really interesting!

Dorothée Jomphe: Nice to hear a hairstylist's point of view! I'm 5'11 and quite thin and in my opinion, I (and my fellow tall/slim sisters) look better with quite short hair, someting like jaw length, since I feel like i gives us break from the long lines. On me, long hair tend to be flater (even with layers) than a cute, messy bob! I shaved my head 5 months ago so right now they are very short but I'm actually liking that pixie cut, I think it puts the attention on the face and the neck/shoulder are and I think it's so feminine and flattering.

Jess E: I found this really informative, actually. You always consider face shape when choosing a hair cut but rarely do you think about how it’ll make you look overall, taking your body into account. And I just had to comment about how much your look is suiting you! The highlights in your bangs and the blue eyeshadow. Omg!

Suzy Mentzos: I love your videos. Thank you for putting out great content.

Dawn Wang: Thank you for making this video. I appreciate that you are taking a chance when making this video because I’m sure not everybody is going to be pleased with what you’re saying. Very original content, I’m subscribing.

Sian A.D: Please do more of these informative videos! You keep me interested the whole time and i learn so much :) <3

ratata: LOVED THIS! And i totally think youre right about not having long hair for length's sake but making it work for you :)

KatiCakes: Can you do a video on how to best talk to a stylist about cultural/ religious restrictions on cuts without coming off in the wrong way or over explaining? Should a client explain the base of the restriction or just give the parameters without explaining why?

Eva Villa: Thank you so much for this video. It was super helpful.

M Violeta: Brittney Gray I'm binge watching all of your videos ❤️ i have a question, I'm about 5'7 my face is oval I'm pretty skinny, and my hair is curly and thick. What kind of haircut would you recommend ( what length ) I blow dry and straighten my hair once a week and the rest of the week I wear it curly. I'm thinking of something shorter my hair long right now but it takes too long to dry to the point if I don't straighten it, and wash it in the morning it's gonna be wet all day long.

F K: I love this look on you! That make up is awesome and the hairstyle is so chic! xx

Julie Kelly: I love your eyeshadow in this we need a tutorial!

Bethany Shih: Makeup is always so on point would love to see some tutorials!!

lokiawriter: Great video, it was super helpful. You looked gorgeous, as always.

JMK: Thank you so much for this video! Massive help!

Gracie Meadors: I love this look on you in this video. The blue eye shadow and matching cardigan. And the hairdo. So cute! Early 2000s vibe

blondewig simp: How is she wearing a cardigan and teaching stuff and yet not looking like a straight up teacher Slay queen!

Aurelija Šulmeister: Wow! This color looks so good on you! Looking bomb as always! ❤️

PatriotMommaWarCo: Thank you!!! I’m in your average category, but pear shaped, a heart shaped face & very fine straight hair that lacks texture I’ve always said I need balance with my hair & clothes How many times I have walked out of a salon with too short hair & how many times a sales associate has tried to sell me skinny pants or super tight fitting tops.....uhhhh NO!!!

gina.homeschooling.on.our.homestead: Looks like I know what I'm doing, . Thank you for your time and the video. Blessings to you and yours. You look stunning in that color. The rose gold is so flattering against your skin tone. XO

Thestralsxxx: You’re truly one of the only respectable hair youtubers and really youtubers in general. While others ride out trends for views and sell merch to young people or peddle their multi-level marketing (*cough* pyramid scheme) products - you consistently have produce content with honesty and truth.

Gabby Fringette: I've been watching for awhile, though I only now just subscribed. Your videos have always been very informational and entertaining. I'd also like to say that, this hair color that you have on looks so pretty on you, I think it suits you the best of all the hair colors I've seen on you!

Kait Bug: I just started watching your videos and I am in love! Girl you're so funny and REAL! I feel like I'm chilling with a girl friend when I watch your videos. Forever a follower

JeMGlitter: Your whole look in this video is on point! I love your colour choices.

Livi ASMR: When you’re trying to pay attention to the video but you’re too busy wondering how Brittney always looks so damn stunning

Tiffani Banks: Enjoyed the vid! Very helpful hints! Fav part when you told the drawing "no shade girl" :) can't wait to watch another and gotta take notes if you have your notebook. GetitBritt

Pickle Chips: I am 5'1" and on the curvier side, and I HATED having short hair. Everyone told me that it looked amazing, but I just was not feeling it. I vowed to myself that I would never pick up another bottle of bleach, dye, or anything that would potentially kill my hair. I want to grow it out as long as I can down the back and beyond the butt! (If I can) I can see why this advice would work, as your hair acts as the frame to your look, but sometimes you have to go with whatever you love best. Confidence works as the most attractive trait and if you hate the way that your hair looks or the length of it then you won't really want to style it. (Therefore making it look terrible) I was always sporting the disheveled Waffle House waitress when my hair was at my neck. Those were bad times...

Hannah Blair: Really informative! I love your videos!

Shay K: Jesus, that blue is stunning on her.

M&G: Agreed! I’m 5’3 and I cut my hair into a bob so it’s not too short but shorter than before.. and it compliments my body so much more

cat lady: You look amazing in blue and the color scheme, girl! Golden and blue, absolutely stunning

CorreaPlayz01 Nunya: Thank you so much fpr your channel and the information you provide! I would love to be able to go to a professional and get all of this information , but financially I can't! Thank you for sharing your knowledge on hair and other " life" things through your channel!

Nzeokova-Mathai Ellah: I very much enjoyed this video. You were spot on. I'm 6'0 and very slender. I've tried different cuts and the cut that compliments me the best is a shoulder length. I actually feel very uncomfortable and not as attractive with hair longer than shoulder length. Create content!!!

Sata matos: Advice videos because we love your humble opinion and realness

Rivy O: This video has been so helpful. I am tall and lanky with an oval face, and you are so right, at least shoulder length looks the best on me.

Sarah T: Really helpful video! I was wondering if anyone had any tips for hair that is more thin and fine. What types of haircuts would be more flattering? Advice is much appreciated:)

Haleys comet: Really enjoyed this video! Turns out I wear my hair how I should :)

Amonise: I'm getting all types of Vanessa Williams tease from you today ! Just gorge

Livia Claire: The reason I don't do my hair with too much volume or too long is because of my height and I agree with you. With a small frame, mid length hair with just a little bit of volume work better.

Hallie DeSocio: I’m 5’9’ and sort of “lanky” and I have never thought to use my hair to compliment my body type. Thanks for this

Caroline Joseph: I really wish I had a hair stylist who is so honest like you. U give genuine opinion ❤️

Tara Kempton: Thank you for this!!! I love the "what looks best on you" videos.

Stella Humberdross: Petite girls with incredibly long hair (like down to their butt) look amazing when it's cut with a blunt cut. I'm not a hair dresser but I love the blunt cut look on long hair, I think it looks really healthy and neat.

odalys perez: Yesssss!!! Always keepin it real thankyou for the hair tips❤️❤️

Brandy Anderss: My mom is 4 ft 6 inches with hair past her butt and she wears it well. Thank you for these tips I love your videos.

Bailey: I respect your knowledge about hair. And making “controversial” videos gets more views- even if it’s “science”. Personally, though, I don’t agree with the video. I’ve seen all types of bodies rock all types of hair - and they’re all equally beautiful.

KatlynKurly: I agree, I'm petite and I have big curly hair and the first thing that comes to mind is q-tip.

Trout Swim: You’re awesome! I’m 4’11 and I tried short hair and it looked so bad on me because I have a curvy body type and a round face so I could not pull it off, so I have fairly long hair now.

a k: I hate it when people are like “ITS MY BOdY I CAN DO WHATEVER I WaNT !!1!1!1!1!1!!” Like no one is saying you can’t, they’re just being informative for people who are actually interested in conforming their hair etc to what ever flatters them more.

Bethany Smith: Your videos would flow so much better if you didn't have to keep doing disclaimers. I think your true full force opinion is so much better than having to make sure the 1% is happy! Love your videos!

Karen McCann: I love your drawings by the way and I'm petite. I was always waiting to grow a few more inches in high school but it never happened. What are you going to do right? RIGHT. Love your channel love you.❤

T W: I love her make up! I had no idea your hair cut should be according to your body type. That is a first for me.

Hahaha: Thank you! Going to get my hair done tomorrow and think I will switch things up!

rachellee: New subbie here. Loving your honesty!!

Beglozano: Would you do a "best hairstyle for your age"? I feel like once you reach your 40s and 50s there might be hairstyles that aren't that flattering. Love your channel!

tahnee dong: i'm a young french hairdresser myself, i'm learning more and more everyday because of you, thank you so much beautiful xx kisses from france

Dahlia Olive: I love that white shirt! Love. It’s so revealing, yet still so classy. Teach meeeeeeeeee. Lol. When I try to do the cleavage thing, it always manages to look kinda trashy, and I’m not even that well endowed! .

NYX: Tell us how you lightened your hair, and please do a makeup tutorial on this look!

Christal Hastie: You deserve so many more subscribers love you ❤️

EverybodySux: I've always picked my hairstyle based on my body and people always thought it was strange lol. I find that shoulder width contributes too

rosalyn58: Hi, nice to meet you. This vid was very helpful. I look forward to checking out some more before I get my haircut this afternoon. :-)

Renee B: Your haircolor today on you is perfect for you with the soft hair falling in front. Don't get dark hair it's to harsh for your skin tone. Makeup is perfection! I love the aqua sweater ! Matches your eyes!! You look like Vanessa Williams. Very striking and super pretty!! Great video. I have a salon appt next week so great timing . Great tips. Thanks

Fluffkin: I’m really skinny, tall and I used to have really thick long hair . I cut my hair at my shoulders and I was honestly scared of looking odd. However, I look a lot better it depends on a lot of other things .

Upliftinghumanity: Thanks for including us plus size girls

Giulia Goidanich: Actually, you can wear your hair any way you want there’s no such thing like “if you’re chubby you can’t wear short hair” — DAMN girl, you rule, wear it the way you like it and own it!!

angie: THIS IS SO HELPFUL!!

Kittensb: yes! I am petite and curvy I've fallen in love with shorter hair on myself. Long hair is gorgeous but not so much on my body type.

Hallie DeSocio: You look gorgeous, Brittney! Your eyeshadow really brings out your eyes !

2eyeluvmac2: I love these videos. I learn so much. Thank you.

The Ginja Ninja: Girlllll what foundation are you wearing? Your skin is insane! We need another grwm. Maybe one about getting ready to film a video

Christina Fouts: Thank you for this it's helping me decide on a length great info

Darrylyn quick: It's a little sad that she has to be so carefull with everything she says because people are so overly sensitive nowadays.

Trina Gallagher: Awesome vid! I learned so much, Brittney!

Karen Cuccaro: As a stylist, I agree with you on all these points.

Cessily: The eyeshadow looks beautiful with your eyes, plus matching cardy: so pretty. :)

Courtney Lyons: You should show hairstyles for different body types with curly hair because it is hard since curly hair tends to be more voluminous.

Harbinger sev-oh-wohne: I love your look/outfit in this video!~ <3 The blue is glowin

Skye Lagunas: I love watching your videos !!! Your soo real ! Love you!! ❤️

Alexandra Oliveira: hey! i bleached all of my hair at the hairdresser and she bleached it with the silver thing, just like highlights but on all my hair. the thing is i have a lot of hair and the first mesh of hair she did had like a 2 hour difference time from the last one, which is on the top of my hair. the first ones are kind of fried when the last ones where the product was applied are still brownish. is this normal????????

Lillian Dougherty: I feel like this is something drag queens figured out decades ago. Well like most beauty fashion things, we use now.

Codex Noir: I'm 5"3. I am athletic and muscular, but petite, small waist. I have had very long and super short hair. I just just cut off ALL my booty length hair, to a short pixie mohawk, and I have noticed this time that it does look much better on me overall. I get a lot more attention and people want to talk to me more. Super strange to me because I thought the mow would kinda scare people... the opposite has happened I knew about hair and bangs, or no bangs for face shapes, but I didn't know about hair length for body types.. makes sense. Great video. Thank you

2kawaii2care: Hey Brittney! Could u make a video about treating hair after going to a salon? Like after bleaching for example ;)

Amy Delvecchio: Just found your channel and i am binge watching, I am in love!!!!

Yany Perez: Makes perfect sense! Thank you!

Emily Rutherford: After trying many different hairstyles on my regular full body I can agree past the shoulders looks the best

rémé hannah: I love your videos! :) :) I have questions tho, What is your hair care routine? How often do you wash your hair or put heat on it? I am too scared to straighten it to much because of heat damage, I heard it was a thing I don't know what it looks like or what to do when i get it... please help or make a video if you don't mind :) :) thank you!
