Hey everybody today we're going to do things a little bit different. First, I'm going to show you the Cylon, be that we're going to do and then kind of give you some instructions kind of do it. So today, we're going to do, can turn and show us back. We go we're going to do a sock bun and you can actually find this all over YouTube. That'S how I learned it. So maybe you don't need me to do this tutorial, but i'm going to show you exactly how we created this specific style with cornrows going into the sock, bun, okay, so the point of using sacs to do the bottom is because it helps to give you a Bigger and a very nice perfectly round shape to the bun, and if you don't have very long, hair or very sick full hair, it will give you a nice big, thick, rounded buns, so you can do this on any texture of hair or any color of hair. We happen to be doing this with these locks and I think it works great with Lex. But if you don't have to do it with locks and the only important thing is that you choose a color of sacks. That'S as close to the shade of your hair. As you can so we're using these old black socks for B and all you have to do is you can see here? Is I just cut the tip of the socks off? So I have a pair of socks, I cut the tip off and then I'm actually going to put one sock inside the other one, and you could probably do this with just one sock instead of a pair but doing it with two is going to make it Thicker, so I guess that kind of depends on. Maybe how big you want your bun to be your health that your hair is already, but now that I've got them doubled up. I'M going to start from the toes here that are cut off and i'm going to just start rolling it over and as I roll it, I'm going to kind of keep pulling it up to keep it nice and tight, and even all the sides and not letting It get bunched up underneath there now some people when they then use the sack to make the bun they will cover the socks in like coconut oil or shea butter, or something just really slather, some oils, olive oil or whatever all over the socks, to keep the Like the captain of the socks from soaking up all the moisture from the hair, so that be a good thing to do, but with these lacks they're kind of short still - and this is not a very long-lasting style for her. So I really don't find it necessary to do that. It'S not really going to cause any damage to her hair for half a day or a day that we leave this sock bun in so now you can see now that I have it pull this a little bit tighter by pulling an end of the second, keep Wrapping it around, but now what I have is like a like a ponytail holder. So that's how you create the sock part for the stock pot. So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to take her hair down and I'll show you step-by-step how we created this side all right when we do a cornrow, I'm going to start with these three locks here and just like I do cornrows and v's Hair, you know a little different than the typical way I'm going to be braiding underhand. So I so I started the braid underhand and then I always add hair to my centerpiece. So I only going to add one two three locks at a time. So add a couple lacks and then I'm going to pass it over the right side and then pass over the left side and then add a couple of locks into the middle and pass over the right over the left. Add a couple locks over the right over the left and if he lacks or the right over, the left just keep doing that all the way down through the hair that I sectioned off here. I'M doing this dry today, just because I didn't take the time to wet her hair before we started the video, but it might work a little better if you started with wet hair and I'm going to keep going right over top of her ear here, because she Also has some shorter locks right on the top of her ear. Now that I reached the end of the lacs that I sectioned off, I'm just going to braid. This is far to the tips of her locks as i can, and then right here you can see where i get some of the ends of the locks that stick out and when that happens, sometimes, if you want to kind of Tidy not going to make it Look a little nicer, you can take that lock and take a bobby, pin and just kind of pin it right, pin the end right in there and then it's not. You want to kind of hide it. There you go and then you can kind of tuck all those little ends in like that. But i think the nice thing about locks is you're not going for a smooth sleek look a little bit of curl sticking out here and there looks nice and natural. So now we have a tie already cornrowed the other side. I'Ve got a little one here that we can maybe bobby pin under too. So let us back up a minute, so I can show you the next step now that we have the two corners in we're going to put the rest of the locks all up into the sock, bun ponytail holder thing, so we're going to grab all of the Locks - and it's really important that you run your fingers through there and really smooth out all the locks so that the ones that are underneath the top layer aren't all bunched up in there that they're laying down nice and flat once I've got her hair all into Position for the ponytail and I'm going to take the sack holder that we made and just like any other ponytail holder and put it on relax through and I'm going to try to tuck cornrow into there too. I'M going to bobby, pin it in and once we finish, you'll never see this bobby pin here or that little am sticking in there do the same with the corner on the other side. Pin it in and now that I have all of this all of the locks inside of the sack holder, I'm going to really make sure that I've pulled them through and then you're going to want to find like the center of the hair and make sure that You, let's turn this way a little bit that you spread all of the lacs kind of evenly around in a circle like that, and you can kind of tell a little on these locks from the middle, because they're probably not pulled through quite as far as as They can be so kind of pull those so that they'll all get caught up in there now. I have this really great hair thing - that's perfect for this, but you could also use like a headband like this. You'D need to double it over, but this hair thing works. Awesome I don't have to double it over is get all the locks in place where I want them. Honey keep your head this way. Let me try that again stay there. So you can see how that makes a really nice round bun and then, with all of these little ends of the locks that are hanging out, I'm just gon na I'm just going to tuck them into that hair thing. Now, her hair is a little short. This would work better if she had a little bit more length to her hair, but we can take care of these, like usually when I have one like that, I can pull on it and get a little more length out of it and still tuck it down. In there - and we could even use some bobby pins to hold a few down if they want it to really be difficult and escape duck duck. Gobbles little ends in it's a little easier to do when I'm not on the camera, but so now that they're all in there, I think to add, live a little bit of extra decorations to make it look just a little fancier we're using a scarf scarf and I'M just gon na put it around the outside of the bun and the nice thing out. This is, it will help hold in those little stray ends, also wrap it around a few times and then I'm going to kind of not tie it but slip that with that and then I'm just going to tuck the ends in wrapping it and then just tuck. The ends under you're done, so it takes a little bit more time to do it on the camera, where I'm trying to stand in a way so that you can see what's going on, but really this is quite fast and simple to do so. That is the finished style and we'll take some pictures and put them on the end of the video too. You

D'Laina Adams: I absolutely love watching your videos. I'm seriously jealous. I can't follow along most of your videos you move so quickly, but your daughter's hair is so beautiful :) I have a lot of problems with my girl's hair, wish I had your talent :)

tmonickful: Hi, Katelynylyn I think you are doing a great job with your girls hair, I commend you for being so patient with it. I am black and my daughter is mixed and I get frustrated with her hair sometimes and it is finer than mine, so I commend you for having the patience and dedication to do what you do for your girls...God Bless you.

itpaystobeme: She is really gonna thank you when she gets older. I love how you take care of her hair

honeychild713: This is one of my fav styles. I really like conservative styles. It looks really good on her.

Kendra Turner: I think the lighting looks fine in this video :) great tutorial!

Katelynylyn: @MsHoneee - We made the decision together. It was my idea, but I showed her lots of pictures and we discussed the pros and cons and she wanted to give it a try. I gave her a month to change her mind after I put the original braids in and she wanted to keep them. She is very happy that she has locs.

Sonja Hibbler: man I was wondering how people did that. so pretty. Great job!!!

DubUTF: Great style. I don't have dreads, but I'll try this someday :D

pennytricia1: These young ladies are so blessed to have you in there's lives, you are a happy family.the styles are great.

topazangel: Thanks for showing. Going to try it!!!

Gedauntee: since afro textured hair is drier that other textured hair, the oils keeps the hair moisturized. As a rule cotton wicks the oils away from the hair thus making itn drier. You may want to consider when you roll the sock using a nylon or satin/silk on the outside of the rolled sock. This will help prevent breakage and help hold in the oils moisture. I love your videos and your girls are beautiful. This is how I do my sock bun as a protective style. So I wear mine more than a couple of days.

peepla7: One trick for braid and loc ends...take a beader from the opposite side and. Push it thru....put the bryaid/loc end in it and pull the beader back out. It hides the end with no bobbi pins.

Katelynylyn: @gedauntee - oh yes, I would totally add the oils if I were going to keep the bun in for any extended period of time. But B's locs aren't quite long enough yet, so they start popping out of the bun as soon as she starts to play around! So we don't even keep the bun in for a whole day! The satin is a good idea though. I was wondering if you loaded the sock with all those oils, wouldn't you have to throw it away after you used it? Seems like it would get pretty gross!

suzieqshair: very pretty!

Sadie McNair: I think you’re a really special lady and we all need to be that way towards each other...☺️

SGmom2: Very cute!!

NayMoe80: Thank u so much for posting!!

DevLoraine: I have a question.. Did you lock her hair just because or because she wanted it or because you wanted it?

Cute Girls With Puffs: HAAHAHA SOCK BUN I HAVENT SEEN THAT SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL I USE TO LOVE THAT HAIR STYLE

Gedauntee: @Katelynylyn oh to answer your question....... no i dont do the oil soaked sock. i just make sure my hair is well moisturized before I put it up in the bun.
