How To Make A Christmas Tree Hair Clip

HairHardware's shared video file.

Hi, i'm laura from hair hardware, and today i'm going to show you how to make this really cute ribbon, sculpture christmas Clippy, to make this Clippy you're going to need emerald grosgrain ribbon you're going to need five pieces. The first piece you're going to need and you're going to need to cut to five inches wide and then another piece, four and a half inches another piece, four inches long, a piece three inches long and the last piece of green ribbon should be two inches long. You'Re also going to need a long single prong, alligator clip and you're going to need a piece of brown grosgrain ribbon to line the long single prong clip, and this should be cut to five and a half inches long to decorate your tree. You'Re also going to need some kind of little gems. I think that I'm going to use five ruby, colored, flatback gems and then one topaz color gem for the top of the tree, so it again started the first thing. You'Re going to need to do is you're going to need to line your alligator clip with the brown ribbon. So, to do that you're going to take your glue, gun and you're going to put glue about an inch and a half or so along the piece of brown ribbon and then open up your clip and just put it right inside, like this and you're going to Take your glue, gun and you're going to layer the top with some more glue and tape, bring your ribbon around just press it right on top and then you're going to flip it over and you're going to cover the rest of the ribbon with glue and then Just press it right inside the hinge area and the rest of the ribbon. You press along the bottom of the clip like that. So now this is ready to start adding pieces for the tree now you're going to want the pinched part to be the bottom trunk of the tree. That'S exposed so that when it's worn in the hair, the tree is an upside down. So you're going to start like this. This is going to be the bottom here where the pinch area is and you're going to take your longest piece of green ribbon and you're going to fold it in half like this and just hold it for a second there. Just so that you can see where that Center mark is and you're going to put a dot of glue in the middle, then take one end of the ribbon kind of loop. It around like that and stick it to the center piece of glue. Then you're going to do the same thing with the other side, put some glue in the middle again loop it around like this, so you should have a piece that looks like that now you're going to do that with each piece of ribbon, except for the shortest Piece, which is the two inch ribbon, so I'm just going to fold it in half blue in the center just fold those pieces in to the center. This is what makes the branches of your tree. You want them to be slightly getting smaller and widths so that you have that look that the tree is kind of like the Christmas tree triangle shape. I'M just gon na finish these real quick here. So one more to do. You should use probably four pieces for the body of the tree and then I'm going to show you how to make the last piece so that it sticks up like the top of the Christmas tree like that. Okay, so I have our four pieces for the body of the tree and now this top piece you're going to want to just make one loop like that, so just put some glue at the bottom of the ribbon piece and then loop it around like this. So you kind of have that pointy top now you're going to take this last piece that you made and you're going to glue it to the top of the alligator clip right here. So I'm going to put some glue at the top of the lined clip and then I'm just going to stick that piece down right like that. It'S going to be the top of our tree and now you're going to work from the bottom up. You'Re going to take this bottom, the widest piece that you made with the five inch ribbon and you're, going to put it right at the bottom of the clip like that, then you're going to take the next size, smaller and you're, going to put it slightly overlapped On top like that, and then do the same thing with the last two pieces, I just want a slight overlap and then this last piece cover it so that you have your Christmas tree now, you're gon na take your gems and you're gon na decorate your train. I'M gon na put the Topaz old-looking gem right at the top and you can use any size gem you want. I just happen to be using ten millimeter flat back gems, I'm using Ruby and topaz and of course, there's no rules for where to put your gems. Just want to stick them down and decorate your tree at all, and these gems are a little big. So I'm going to stop at three for this one, so I have three Ruby gems. I have a topaz gem at the top and that's how you make a Christmas tree. Ribbon, sculpture, clipping

Kristen Black: This is super cute! I will be trying it out soon! Thanks for sharing!

Stephanie Kirby: Thank you! Mine turned out so good!!! I made a mistake though because I wasn't careful to angle the ribbon the same on both sides for one of the layers, so everyone else be sure to do that!

Lisa Quiñones: I'm so making this, I love it !

kharlie22: Love this idea! But instead of using all the smaller pieces of ribbon, couldn't you loop one long piece? The way they're put together it could just keep falling onto of each other that same way. Guess I could see why this would be easier for some. This would be really cute for a headband, too!

Kathy Keys: Love this. Tfs, hugs,Kathy

MzChellesoul: I can't wait to tree this!

Mercedes Villegas: Congratulations I like it, is very easy. Thanks.

Cathy Durham: Where did you find that glue gun?  I love the fine point on the end!

HairHardware: Thanks - let us know how it turns out.

Dina López: cute!!
