Hoda Kotb Explains Her Hair Color Mishap: ‘I Was Like An Orange Q-Tip!’

It turns out Hoda had a keratin treatment that turned her hair bright orange: “I was like an orange Q-tip!” Fortunately, one of TODAY’s hair experts worked some magic to turn Hoda’s hair its current dark brown.

Can i start the conversation? Oh sure, let's talk about your hair, here's the thing it's a little darker than we're used to yeah, and no one told me so. I just walked on the set this morning and i was like. Oh i like it. You do it's winter. Well, yeah, you know some things are like um, happy accidents so uh. I have my whole family's coming today, so i decided i wanted to do that. Keratin treatment that i like to do and it just makes it kind of washed out. You know it just makes takes the frizz out, so i'm like i'll do that early, i'm gon na be on it. So um i, the salon is closed. So i know one of the women who does it and i said, do you mind just coming by we'll? Do it there we'll take care of everything, so we started doing it and um. We were all done. It takes hours, you know three hours so three hours later i got up and it was like fire engine orange like like bozo orange, and i looked and i go. Oh my god like what what what what and you know she's amazing. So i think there was something funky with the chemicals yeah, so you keratin and color. At the same time, i think no, i didn't i did i wasn't supposed to so the next morning i said, do you think, do you think you could come back because she doesn't isn't it that bad girl? It was like i'm trying to find the orange. No. It was no there's no way i can even it's is there an i don't know, i don't see a color orange dress, it was the ronald mcdonald ish yeah, it was bozo. It was like this orange on the kleenex box, like it was like that it was like one big orange. I was like an orange q-tip, so what could i know? You can't pull that back? No, you can't there's nothing so the this morning at 3, 15 um in the morning. Thank you so much uh kathy who does the she was like we'll fix it before the show, and so she just started putting stuff on it and it's dark brown now. So that's the way it is so there there you go. pam0626: Carmel highlights can easily turn orange after a few weeks, especially when using keratin. The only thing that helps is to have the stylist apply a toner to take out the brassy, copper color.
