Hi everyone, my name, is gage and welcome to my channel. So today I'm going to be talking about my hair, because some people have asked me just how I take care of my hair things that I've done to help it grow and things like that. So if you didn't already know what you probably do, because I talk about all the time, I'm transgender and a big part of my transition was actually trying to grow out my hair, okay, be a big part of my transition has been growing out. My hair, it's been a long treacherous journey, that's really tested, my inner will and my endurance to live, but I feel like now I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to see like reward for going through such a difficult time in my life. So this is currently how long my hair is um, it's pretty long, actually not as long as I want it to be, but it's definitely getting there and I'm super happy about the length that it's at so I'm just going to start off this. Video being completely honest with you, the process of growing out your hair sucks ass, like it sucks a lot, however, you stay committed and you stick to it. The results will be very rewarding and you will be very happy that you put yourself through months of torture and looking like an awkward psychopath, so yeah a little bit of information about where I started my whole journey, um. Basically my entire life. I had a buzz cut, so I started with nothing. My hair was literally half a centimeter long, so when I started to grow it out, it was an experience for me because I had such short hair my entire life switching to longer hair. It was just a lot to adjust to, but I'm definitely happy with where it is today. So the first thing that I would suggest, depending on how long your hair currently is, I would say, look up inspiration online um from other youtubers celebrity stylist or whatever find a picture of a hairstyle that you want your hair to look like in the future. Maybe and then I would suggest taking this hairstyle like print out a picture or save it to your phone, show it to a hair, stylist or and say hey like I'm, trying to grow my hair out. I want it to look like this in the future. Can you shape it a little bit so that it'll grow out to look like this and doing this at the very beginning? Will definitely save you time and a lot of length, because if you grow your hair out from certain lengths without trimming it, it can go and turn into something that looks really awkward like for me. There'S a very brief moment when I had a mullet, and I was in denial that I had a mullet, I was like there's no way that I have a mullet, there's no way that I would let myself get to that level, and then people started telling me Like honey, you have a mullet and I was like. Oh so that's the first time I got to go, trim my hair because I didn't want to rock the hairstyle. I mean if you want to go ahead. I just didn't really think it looks good on me. So yeah it's definitely a good idea to at least trim or shape your hair before you grow it out just so, it grows in a more attractive pattern than it does. If you don't do it, because my hair was really scary and if you are coming from an extremely short length like I did, there is going to be that in-between period where your hair is very awkward. And it's like too long to keep it out of your face. It'S always bothering you, but it's also too short, to put it in a bun or put it back and have it look good. So I have some tips for you if you're going through one of those stages, so I was to just bring headbands like this, that you can just put around the front part of your head and also like sports bands like this, that you can kind of wrap Around your head and tie the rest of your hair back that way, and this will just help if your hair is kind of an even the front, might be longer than the back it'll just push everything backwards and make it look a little bit better and a Little less awkward, another thing that I would suggest is beanies and hats. I lived in beanies like the first portion of my transition because I was still uncomfortable with I don't know identifying as female in public, so I was in a very much endogenous state. Oh beanies. Definitely helped me achieve a more androgynous look, but it also helped me hide my ugly ass err that was underneath the beanie, so yeah investments in beanies or some cute hats, or something so you have them prepared for when your hair gets to that point, and trust Me it'll get to that. Like I remember the first time I was able to put my hair in a bun. It was actually the first video that I post on my channel. Please don't go watch it because it's actually terrifying yeah. If you want to look at that, video you'd notice, like my scalp, is literally about to fall off, because if my hair was pulling so hard because I was so determined to get my hair in a bun like half of my hair is like hanging off the Back of my head and half of it is it in the messiest bun that I've ever seen in my life it was just a mess. It was a tragic time in my life. I choose not to revisit those dark moments, but I mean, if you want to look at them to see how far I've come go for it. But I warn you it's really scary, but yeah. Something that I didn't do that you can obviously do is to buy a wig or buy weave or extensions, or something like that. It definitely is a very viable option to grow your hair out because you can have long hair and then underneath the wig. You can have your natural hair grow, so yeah. We just are an option that some people choose um. They are pretty expensive from what I've heard. So, if you're willing to spend the money for one go ahead and do it well, they can be inexpensive. But you'll look really busted and, like your edges, will be hanging out like girl, if you're gon na get away like good a good one, get a lace front like please. Another thing that I will say is definitely don't wash your hair every single day, natural oils that your hair produces on its own is actually what can help it grow. We definitely want your hair to be taking in these natural oils, instead of washing it out consistently. So I typically wash my hair like two to three times a week, depending on what I did that week and I would also suggest washing your hair with sulfate free, shampoo and conditioner. It'S just less harsh on your hair and it's less harsh in taking out all the natural oils that you actually kind of want to preserve in your hair. Oh so I would suggest washing your hair with cold water instead of hot water, and I Huck. I actually heard about this a couple months ago and ever since I started doing it, I've noticed that my there has been so much softer and less frizzy, like my hair type in general, is very thick and very frizzy. So that's definitely something that has helped to reduce the frizz in my hair and just keep it healthy and drugs. So, as I said, I have very frizzy hair, so I've gone through multiple types of shampoos that claim to be frizz free and to make your smooth, ER and stuff like that. None of that [ __ ] works especially the stuff. That'S like forty dollars like don't buy it because it doesn't work, at least for me. It doesn't, but I did find a really cheap alternative, and that is the organics Argan and Moroccan oil, shampoo and conditioner. This stuff works so good. For me, it makes my hair so soft reduces frizz and makes it super smooth and shiny, so yeah and this stuff is super eggs in expensive. It'S like eight dollars at Target so definitely check out the organics line. It comes in a blue bottle like this super good for controlling frizz and just making your hair super soft, and when I get out of the shower, I do use oil um. Recently I've been using mythic oil, which I got from my hairdresser. I mean honestly, you can use like argan oil, coconut oil, any type of oil to put in your hair to keep it shiny and smooth, and things like that. It'S not a necessity, just something you can do to kind of improve the appearance and the stetic of your hair. By the way like I'm, not a hairdresser, I have no clue what I'm talking about. So definitely don't take things that I'm saying as the Bible and something that you should follow, because I don't really know what I'm talking about. I'M just talking about what works for movies. So in terms of hair growth supplements, I tried biotin, I tried hair bursts. I'Ve tried Hairfinity, I've tried those gummy bears like those blue gummy bears you see on Instagram. All the time tried. Those and honestly, I don't really see a difference between any other products. So I'll definitely say if you are interested in getting hair growth supplements to go to biotin first, because it's the cheapest option and I feel like it - works just as well as all the other more expensive products. However, there is something about biotin that is important to know. Some people experience hair growth in other our regions of their body other than just their head. So if that's something that you are worried about, I would caution yourself on taking biotin. This isn't something that everybody experiences, so I would suggest getting it testing it out for a couple weeks to see if hair goes anywhere else. If it doesn't go ahead, keep taking it, but it is definitely a way to help your hair go faster. So yeah, that's pretty much all I have for this video if there's something that I missed or I didn't cover that you're still curious about about my hair or anything like that. Please leave a comment down below. Tell me what you want to know spot really liked this video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more updates on my transition and other transgender related topics. Also, if you have any suggestions on video ideas that you would want me to possibly do in the future, go ahead and leave those down as well, because my hormone update videos were, like my main videos that I made now, I'm not going to be doing them Anymore, because I'm about to hit one year so yeah, I'm running out of ideas. slimdudeDJC: Although I am not Transgender, I had a pretty easy time growing mine out(I am male btw). I left going to a barber b/c he screwed it up and gave me what I didn't want. I first went to a salon in 94, I started getting it trimmed at the end. At the time, it was touching my shoulders. By the time it was 2006, it was almost mid back. Nowadays, it's touching my but. Just keep it trimmed so it doesn't split upwards. You are soooo pretty, just saying ♥

CorinnaxSophia: You look so gorgeous! If i haven't seen your latest Video before, i wouldn't have known you were trans.Great to see, that u (and with that i mean everyone) can be the Person u want to be.Love from Germany

Emmchen: Exactly the right time for that. Awkward period of your hair beeing too long and too short at the same time? *Blushes and nods* :D How long did it take you to grow your hair out like that? I think you missed it in the video. You could do some stuff about starting transition or what to do before living it openly. How to go androgynous would be really interesting; clothes etc. (Btw. I really love your style <3 ) Thanks for the tips :D

thevilmoron: Totally relate with your childhood hair situation. I always had a buzz cut. Now it's around six inches, and growing. Love your story

It's also dry and like frizzy or brittle I don't know the difference. When I touch the root I think it's smooth and going straight.. Should I cut the curly parts or let it grow?
