Brandy Brought that Old Thing Back - “Brandy Braids" - Well

Brandy has been giving us all kinda”hauteness” on her Instagram, and even though it looked like she brought the old school Brandy braids, these twists were all grown up, cute and sophisticated!

Side note, don’t Theo (Malcolm Jamal) and her make the cutest couple? I am really not one for celebrity match making but I think they look adorable together. *end side note*

Brandy’s twist style was done by none other than the fabulous Dr. Kari who we had the pleasure of interviewing a few months ago. She styled the twists in the most elegant way and the updo creation went really well with the simple black gown Brandy wore.

Of course we had to reach out to Dr. Kari to get the 411 on the style, here is what she had to say:

I did twist and style Brandy’s hair. I used a synthetic afro kinky* hair by Janet Collection Noir. They hang to her mid back, so to extend the hair I used an invisible twisting technique so that its undetectable. Thank you for the compliment!

Our tips on styling twists and twist extensions*: 

Styling your twist extensions* or your twists with your own hair should be a good time to get your creative juices flowing. As a matter of fact if you choose to do an updo with your twists , try not to plan it, just go with the flow.

The best advice we can give when doing dramatic updos with twists is to show as much of your beautiful face as you can, pulling twists up and back, the higher the better but not too tight to avoid putting stress on your precious edges.

Another suggestion would be to use as many bobby pins* as you need to get the desired look. Remember that twists tend to slip, and get away from you when you want them to remain in a certain place and goody bands may spoil the look.

And finally one thing we really loved about Brandy’s hairstyle was how she let it live! There were no dramatic earrings, her makeup was light and ‘natural’ she allowed the style to take center stage by not adding too much to her face. Now don’t get me wrong , I am all for the statement jewelry but sometimes with really dramatic updo’s less is more.
