5 Reasons You Should Absolutely Try Crochet Havana Twists!

havana twistsIt’s no secret that I’ve been doing crochet braids as my go-to protective style for a little over a year now. However, lately I’ve been trying to branch out and try a new protective style for the winter, because I was a little tired of the crochet braids.

I almost booked an appointment to try chunky havanna twist because even though I am hesitant about braids/twists after a failed experience with box braids, I figured chunky twists would be good because it wouldn’t be pulling on small sections of my hair.

However literally two nights before my scheduled appointment I came across a pinterest photo of crochet havanna twists, and was so glad that I did!

Crochet havanna twists give you the same look as regular havanna twists, but they take less than half the time to install, and it’s crochet- meaning that your hair is cornrowed back, and the pre twisted twists are then placed along the braids. If you are thinking about trying crochet havanna for the first time, here are a few reasons I think you should go for it:

1. Low Maintenance

Crochet havanna is extremely low maintenance. All I do at night time is pull the twists back, and put on a satin scarf. The time it takes me to get ready in the morning is reduced, because I don’t have to spend time on my hair, all I do is take the scarf off, and occasionally add a little bit of oil to my scalp.

2. Long or Short

The crochet havanna twists come in 24 inches or 12 inches, and also a wide variety of colors. My personal favorite is the 12 inches because it is the length of a cute, and classy bob.

I’ve tried the 24 inches, and although I really liked them, it just wasn’t the best for the workplace. It got in the way of my day to day tasks, and wasn’t quite functional. However, I would definitely get them for a summer vacation or long trip, because they can be pulled back, and you can get them wet!

3. Two Styles for the price of one!

The thing I love the most about this style is that once you are tired of the twists, or they start to get old, you can revamp the look by untwisting the braids! This was especially impressive to me because I am the type to get tired of styles quickly, so having the option to untwist for a new look blew my mind!

4. Blue or Purple

The twists also come in literally every color of the rainbow. I personally always get black, but hey- there’s nothing wrong with trying a little bit of color!

5. Budget Friendly

The crochet havanna twists are cheaper than the regular havanna twists, and last just as long!
