My Product Combo For My Perfect Twist Out!

Wash n’ Gos used to be my go-to style, however, I recently have a new found love for twist outs. For me, twist outs take half the time wash n gos do, and they also give me great definition.

I must admit, it did take some time for me to discover the best product combo for my most successful twist out, but eventually I had it down pat.

To start, I cowash my hair with As I Am coconut cowash, and then I add the As I Am leave in conditioner. I love the As I Am products* because they are infused with coconut oil*, which my hair loves.

Next I blot my hair with a t-shirt, instead of a towel. The t-shirts are easier on my hair than the rough dry cotton towels. I don’t want my hair to be bone dry, but I blot it enough so that it is not dripping wet. That’s another thing I like about twist outs, you can do them on wet or dry hair, and still get good results.

Then, I section my hair into four manageable sections, and on each section I finger detangle and add in a quarter sized amount of Camille Rose Naturals Moisture Milk.

Once that’s in, then I start twisting sections within the four sections. For each twist, my gel of choice is Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker gel. I love this gel because, unlike eco styler gel*, which I use for wash n gos, it doesn’t make my hair crunchy when it dries but it still gives optimal hold. Also, not to mention that it smells amazing!

I also rub Trader Joe’s coconut oil on each twist as well, just to seal in the products.

Then once my entire head is twisted, depending on what time of the day it is, I will either let it air dry, or I will use my diffuser* and dry my head about 85% and then let the rest dry at night.

I have really thick hair so sometimes when I wake up in the mornings my hair still won’t be dry, so I have to then diffuse again. While untwisting each twist I like to rub argan oil on my hands, so it creates a lite oil slip and reduce the amount of frizz. I then pick out the twists to my desired fullness, shake my hair, and go!

How do you get your best twist out?
