Saint Vincent Artist Reimagines Disney Princesses as Afro Caribbean

I think we’ve all been there. Looking at the popular Disney Princesses and wondering why they don’t look like us. Yes, we were finally given Tiana but would it be nice if we could see the other princesses as brown girls too?

Well that’s just what St. Vincent native Karissa C decided to do! She created her series titled “My Creole FairyTale” to show the the girls in the fairytales as African/Caribbean women.

Growing up I always imagined what it would be like if the girls in the Fairytales looked like me. So when I imagined them, they always had my favourite elements of MY Culture (which I am so proud of) too! Inspired by my love of Fairytales & African/Caribbean Culture!
