Who doesn’t love a great scalp massage?! Not only do they feel absolutely amazing, it does wonders to optimize hair growth!

Typically scalp massages are performed while shampooing when you are trying to deeply cleanse your scalp, or they can be done nightly with oils such as Jamaican Black Castor Oil* to gently massage and stimulate your hair follicles regularly.

In addition to this, did you know you could actually perform a scrub on your scalp to intensify the massage?

While searching for an all natural Do-It-Yourself facial scrub recipe I stumbled across a few recipes for scalp scrubs and this immediately intrigued me so I tweaked the recipe to make it my own and tried it for myself!

Here is what you need:

1/4 c Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp Honey*

2 Tbsp Olive Oil*

Few drops of your favorite essential oil (I used Tea Tree* oil)

Do note that my measurements were not precise as I typically just add things to a bowl until the consistency is to my liking, so feel free to adjust as needed. Combine all ingredients into a mixing bowl and apply directly to your scalp. Use the ball of your fingertips to gently massage in the scrub and wash out. This scrub can be performed on either wet or dry hair.

I found that the addition of Tea Tree oil* to the scrub made it much more invigorating and assisted in cleansing and clarifying myself to ensure I rid myself of all the product built up on my scalp.

Overall the results of the scrub were great. I already knew the benefits of honey* and oil to nourish and soften my strands while adding shine, the sugar adds the texture to allow the mixture to work into your scalp and hair, and the tea tree oil* has benefits to solve flakiness and dry scalp problems.

Have you tried using a scrub for your scalp massages?
