Introduce yourself and which salon if any you work at…

Hello my name is Anitra “Mz.Glam” Phifer I’m the proud owner of Anitra’s Luxe Glam Bar Hair & Makeup Studio located inside of DeShay Beauty Salon in Charlotte NC 4548 -B Old Pineville Rd.

How long have you worked as a licensed cosmetologist (or equivalent in your country) and where did you study?

I have been doing hair for about 16 years I graduated from Southeastern Beauty of Culture in Charlotte NC.

What is your specialty, relaxed, natural hair, locs or anything special?

My specialty is healthy hair.

What in your opinion is the most rewarding thing about working as a hair stylist?

You can be very creative with your skills without any limits.

When you meet that customer that has not had a great experience with a previous stylist, how do you make them comfortable while in your chair?

As a stylish you must allow the client to express their feelings on what they like and not like…always make them feel special by giving positive feedback.

If you could change one thing about the cosmetology industry what would that be?

I would like to see a stop to beauty supply stores selling professional products to anyone who wants them. I feel that only licensed hairstylist should be able to purchase relaxers etc, not customers.

Where do you see yourself a few years from now, what are your goals as a stylist?

I see myself owning a building for my salon and launching my own cosmetics line…I want to make up to be more affordable for consumers. I would also love to open up a beauty school as well.

How do you stay motivated and on top of your game?

Watching the internet and YouTube going to classes and hair shows.

I love what I do as a hairstylist and makeup artist. I keep it honest with the person if I can’t do it we will work together until the correct look is achieved.
