The Flaxseed Gel Recipe - Home Made And All Natural

The flaxseed gel recipe

Flaxseed gel affectionately known as FSG is probably the best alternative to commercial gels out there. In this day and age when everyone is very focused on health, going organic and moving away from products that have harmful chemicals, we think it is important to highlight some alternative natural options that you can use in your hair care regimen.

Flaxseed gel is definitely one of those options. If you have never made flaxseed gel before you are in luck because we are going to share one of the best video demonstrations we could find on YouTube right here, right now and all you have to do is just watch.

Before we get into the video though, you might be wondering what all this flaxseed fuss is about. Flaxseed oil which is derived from the seeds of the flax plant is very rich in essential fatty acids. For hair that is important because it rids your hair and scalp of dryness and it promotes hair health.

Additionally flaxseeds are made up of compounds that fight hair loss and that is always a plus making this styler almost perfect for your hair. How many commercially bought stylers can you say actually help with hair loss?

What you will need

To make the gel all you will need are flaxseeds which you can get at your local health food grocer, you will need a pot to boil them in and some sort of strainer. In the video Whitney (Naptural85) uses an old stocking which works very well to separate the gel from the seeds.

Other things include some clear containers to store the gel and any left over seeds that you might have and a sharpie to label the container.

Ingredients

1/4 of whole flax seeds to 2 cups of water

Process

Add your seeds to the water on enough heat to get the water to boil stirring often so that the seeds do not stick while the water thickens. Strain the seeds when you notice the water getting thick but not too thick causing you to have trouble pouring it into your makeshift strainer.

Once you strain all your gel add a few drops of your favorite essential oils* to preserve the gel, for smell and for hair health. Need an awesome visual? Check out the video below:
