Say WHAT? A black tea rinse can give your hair the business? According to many natural hair gurus out there, this rinse works. So, for you tea heads out there who love a big cup of antioxidants to start your morning, you may want to not only drink it, but give your hair and scalp a sip of it as well. Yum Yum! Black tea rinses can do the following:

  • Stop shedding
  • Strengthen hair
  • Create shine

If  you want to do a tea rinse, here is what you will do:

Get 2-4 bags of black tea and steep in hot, boiling water. Let it steep for a few hours, or overnight. The stronger the brew, the better your results will be. (you can add garlic power to your tea, but that is optional, it can also stop shedding, but can be smelly). Pour the tea into a spray bottle, After you shampoo your hair, spray the tea onto the scalp and hair. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes.

*Warning* Black tea is a natural hair dye. Be mindful that your hair color could possibly change.

Wash out the rinse and deep condition. The tea rinse can be drying to the hair, so it is important that you condition your hair afterwards. Do not skip that step. To ensure that your moisture is retained, try adding your deep conditioner* on top of the tea rinse.

Several YouTubers have confidently claimed that this tea rinse has worked for them with just one use. Some say they religiously do this rinse every two weeks, and have received amazing results. Of course, every one is different.

Here’s the science behind Black Tea when it comes to your hair; it contains lots of caffeine. The caffeine blocks the hormone that is known for hair loss (DHT). For whatever reasons you’re shedding (stress, postpartum, etc), this is said to be a natural way of combating it.
