Crotchet Braids With Marley Hair 101

Okay, so Marley and other kinky* hair is being used more and more now in the most creative ways for protective styling, but for those of you who are not very fond of this frizzy, kinky* look of this hair…there’s a miracle in store for you. You can seriously style marley braid hair as if it is your own. HOW? Lets go ahead and get into it.

The most popular way to install Marley braid hair – or any kind of bulk hair – is by crocheting them onto your braided back hair. That is understood by many posts. Even if you are using the hair to do twists or braids,Marley  hair can be made more manageable. It all depends on what brand you invest in, and what styling tools/products you use.

Don’t be afraid to ask the workers at your beauty supply store if you can possibly open the pack of hair to feel its quality. Better believe that there are softer brands of Marley hair out there! To reduce the frizz and fly aways that Marley hair has, apply a heavy based hair crème to it. This will loosen the stiffness. If possible, use a Denman brush to brush through the kinks and then style.

Normally, you’ll see the old perm rod trick to seal the ends of Marley hair after you’ve done braids or twists. Interestingly, now the rods are being used to achieve a natural-looking curl set after the hair has been crocheted in, or semi twisted/braided in to the scalp with some hair left untwisted. The trick is hot, boiling water to get the hair to curl. Actually perm rods* are not even necessary. SAY WHAT?
