In A Style Rut? Try This High Top Fade Inspired Hair Style

Fotor1104224647I love a funky fade, so these new trends with under cuts and half shaved heads are pretty much up my alley. Would I try it, nah, my head is way too big for that sort of thing, but I love love love to see other women rock the hec out of one with a bold lip and a bangin’ pair of pumps. This style tutorial was inspired by that look, it was done by YouTuber lovelyanneka, and it is basically one way you can fake the fade.

How Do You Achieve The Style

The basics of how to do the style is best shown in the tutorial, however all you are doing is separating your hair into two neat halves, with more on the top half, in comparison to the bottom half.

The most important thing is to make sure you have clean parts, especially on the sides because a well done fade will have straight lines where visible.

Secure the bottom half of your hair in a low ponytail and put away the top half, so you can focus on making sure the bottom half is sleek. Using your favorite gel, slick down any fly aways in the lower half ponytail.

Use a soft bristle brush to get your hair  as neat as possible and a tooth brush for your edges. Once you have the bottom half looking neat forget about the pony tail for a minute and work on your Pompadour. Using as many bobby pins* as you will need, roll the right side securing it as you go along, roll the left side and then roll the front towards the back of your head securing everything in place.

Play with your look until you get the top half of your hair looking the way you like it, use gel if necessary to keep your hair very neat. Next work on your pony tail in the back! Split the pony tail into two halves and pin each half up towards the middle of your hair, eliminating the ponytail all together.

After you are done, you should look like you have a fade, but you really don’t. Check out the video for a visual, just in case I confused you:

This style is done best on medium length hair.Comment below, and let us know what you think.
