Introduce yourself and which salon if any you work at…

Hello! I’m Latoya #demtoyabraids I am currently in school for cosmetology, and working from home – part time – in the Philadelphia area.

How long have you worked as a licensed cosmetologist (or equivalent in your country) and where did you study?

I am currently studying at Lt International Beauty Academy.

What is your specialty, relaxed, natural hair, locs or anything special?

I do it all! Relaxed, natural, etc. I recently went natural myself, and I’m loving it!

What in your opinion is the most rewarding thing about working as a hair stylist?

The most rewarding thing about being a stylist is the ability to have these women’s and my own visions come to life. A lot of people ask how do I have the patience to do some of the work I do, and my answer is simple. I love it! I love doing it; I love seeing the results; I love the art of cosmetology!

When you meet that customer that has not had a great experience with a previous stylist, how do you make them comfortable while in your chair?

I just try to take the other stylists’ negatives, and make them positives. You have to listen and adjust accordingly to your clients, or you could fail miserably.

If you could change one thing about the cosmetology industry what would that be?

In my opinion, the cosmetology industry is ever evolving- always changing and bringing back past styles. Therefore, I would change nothing about the cosmetology industry because I know the next best thing is coming up.

Where do you see yourself a few years from now, what are your goals as a stylist?

A few years from now, I see myself owning my own salon. Making products for natural hair care and getting prepared to have my own beauty store, where women can go and buy things for their natural and relaxed hair.

How do you stay motivated and on top of your game?

My clients keep me on my toes. I enjoy those clients who come to me with challenging and different styles. I’m always studying, watching videos, and seeing what I can do next. So that’s how I stay motivated, and on top of my game.

Here is a chance to sell you ‘the stylist’ and your business, tell us why we should utilize your services?

Everyone: if you are in the Philadelphia area, you’ve got to check out #demtoyabraids! I do it all: braids, weaves*, and natural hair. I use only the best products – keeping in mind that if you want to make money, you’ve got to spend money. I’ve been told and have seen with my eyes that I have growing hands. I have been truly blessed with this ability, and will continue to do this until I’m no longer able to.

Where can we find you and how can we contact you for an appointment?

You can check me out on Facebook (demtoyabraids), on Instagram (#demtoyabraids), and I can be contacted locally in Philadelphia at 2675060151. Thank you!
