Awesome No - Knot Box Braid Extension Technique

hqdefault

This has to be one of the coolest tutorials that I have seen thus far. Okay, so most of us know about box braids (Poetic Justice Braids, Individuals, etc.) and we also know that a tell tale sign of box braid extensions* is the knot at the very top, right?

I know that some of us, including me, aren’t a huge fan of the knot at the top of braid extensions but since this was the only way to wear this style I dealt with it.

Besides, box braids are banging! But guess what I recently learned that you can actually rock the box braids without the knots! Youtuber Sonyabeonit shares her technique on achieving box braids without the knots!

What you will need:

Kanekalon Hair– The kanekalon hair that is used in this video is Bobbi Boss Kanekalon Braiding Hair in 1b. If you cannot find Bobbi Boss Kanekalon Braiding Hair, then you use any kanekalon braiding hair in any color that you prefer.

Spritz – Before doing the braids, Sonyabeonit uses a hair spritz to moisturize and strengthen the braiding sections. You can use any spritz or creamy moisturizer that you prefer. Moisturized hair is a great way to ensure that your hair strands can be strong enough to withstand braid extensions*.

Rattail Comb*– A rattail comb* is used to create clean parts for your braid sections.

To ensure that you do not have a bad reaction to the chemical bases that can sometimes be found in your kanekalon hair, you can soak your hair in 4 cups of water with 1-2 tbsps. of vinegar (it can be apple cider or white). Leave your kanekalon hair in there for about 20 minutes, rinse, and then let dry.

Length Needed To Achieve This Style This style works on any hair length that can braided with extensions. This tutorial is done using relaxed hair, but all ladies can achieve this hairstyle.

For the best results on natural hair, make sure to stretch your hair beforehand. You can stretch your hair via heat free methods such as banding, twists, braids, African threading, banding, etc. If you don’t mind a little heat, then you can also blow-dry your hair  as a stretching method as well.

In the video below, Sonyabeonit shows us how she  he achieves her No-Knot Technique for Box Braids!
