3 Not So Out of the Box Bad Hair Day Fixes

00We all have those days – you know, when our hair just does NOT want to cooperate. Personally, my hair starts looking crazy if I don’t re-twist it at night and just go to sleep on it.

There are plenty of ways that our hair can lose itself, and there will be plenty of times when it just looks beyond salvageable. Well there’s bad news and good news.

The bad news is that unless we want to rock a Wash ‘n’ Go, it takes a little maintenance and time that we may not have to make our hair go back to normal. The good news is that we can leave our hair how it is and still look cute in less than a few minutes. Here are a few quick bad hair day fixes that you can use immediately:

Hat

00

Having a good hat or beanie is some times underrated. There are plenty of ways to wear your hair underneath a hat: cover your full head with no leave out, leave your ends out and hanging down, or even flat twist/braid the front. The options are totally up to you.

When wearing a hat, keep your hair moisturized underneath by putting on a satin bonnet* or silk scarf*. Hats can dry out hair, especially depending on the material that it’s made from, and you want to protect your hair as much as possible. Hats have no installation time, and you can just put one on in as little as thirty seconds or less.

Turban

Turbans take a little longer that hats to put on, but they’re equally as cute. There are tons of ways to tie turbans and headwraps, and there are plenty of YouTube tutorials with different ideas.

Just like wearing a hat, you can play with your hair any way you’d like underneath the turban, it just depends on how much leave out you want and how you want hair to lay. Also, remember to keep on a satin bonnet* or silk scarf* underneath your turban to prevent rubbing or unnecessary dryness. Depending on how elaborate your turban will be, putting on a turban shouldn’t take longer than five minutes.

Wig

Wigs* can take a little longer to install, based on the kind of wig you’re wearing and how much is involved. Wigs* are an excellent protective style because they allow you to leave your own hair alone underneath, while allowing you to manipulate the extension hair.

If you wear a crochet wig, it takes less than ten minutes to put on. Simply pull your hair back into a ponytail/bun or cornrow it back. If you decide to install a wig with a lace closure*, it may take a little longer to put in depending on your experience.

If you wake up one morning and you don’t have the energy to do anything to your hair, don’t worry about it! There are a few things that you can do that will cover your hair and give you a bit of a break. Always remember to keep your hair moisturized underneath and you’ll be on your way out of the door in no time!
