6 Ways You Can Make Your Goal Of Super Thick Hair Some What Of A Reality

thick hair

Well that title was perfect until the words “some what” showed up. So can I have thick hair or not?

Don’t you hate it when you need a definitive answer on something and someone like me rolls around with words like ‘maybe’ and ‘some what’.

The thing is my dear, like matters of the heart some things can be a bit complicated and there is no one certain answer, it is always relative.

Hair thickness is predetermined by your genes. In other words some of us have naturally thick hair and some of us have naturally thin hair. You might hear a woman say that having thick hair runs in her family because to be honest, it just might.

Or you might hear another person say : “Well my grandfather was bald, and my mother is balding but I am not because I have my father’s ‘hair genes’.” All of this is true in the grand scheme of things, however despite what your genes dictate there are ways to strengthen and thicken the hair that you do have even with the odds against you.

What is thick for you is all relative based on the facts that I just explained. Now that we have that out of the way, how can you make thick hair for you, a reality?

1. Eggs

Protein treatments strengthen your hair and eggs are one of the best options for protein out there regardless of what branded hair product is on the shelf.

Beat two eggs, add a bit of honey and some cheap conditioner and a dash of olive oil* for a glorious deep treatment mask weekly and you will have the shiniest, strongest hair on the planet.

In addition to that the eggs add bulk to the strand because it repairs the outside of the strand from normal wear and tear essentially making your strand thicker!

If you have a million of those thicker strands running around on your head you will have thicker hair over all.

2. Avocado

Another kitchen item that is known for adding body as well as essential nutrients to the hair is avocado. You can blend your avocado with wheat germ oil*, honey, cheap conditioner and apply to your hair weekly.

For added moisture throw in a ripe banana as well. This mask is heaven for your strands!

These seeds prevent hair loss which inadvertently leads to thicker hair. In order to use them effectively you have to make a paste by grinding soaked seeds that you have left in water for 10 hours.

Once the seeds are pliable apply the paste to your hair and scalp and sit with it for 30 minutes before washing it out.

Use this recipe to heal your scalp of anything that might cause hair fall and if you need a jump on some hair growth, you will solve that issue with regular use of the paste as well.

4. Castor Oil

Castor oil* is another product known for hair loss prevention and stimulating the hair follicles that might need a bit of a nudge. You can use Castor Oil* as a hot oil treatment, pre poo, or massage oil before wash day.

If you combine castor oil and coconut oil* as a hot oil treatment, you would have turned your treatment up 100 fold. Some women do this hot oil treatment weekly without fail. The oils strengthen the hair, prevent hair fall and you will notice hair growing in the places that might have been thinning. The key is being very consistent, none of these treatments work over night.

5. Henna*

I know I know, you hate the red color. Well some of us do hate the red tint that henna gives but Ayurveda practices can be very beneficial when you want thicker longer hair and henna is the most popular of these practices out there.

Henna has a binding effect that makes it act like a protein because it attaches itself to the spaces in the hair strand normalizing porosity and fixing damage. It strengthens the hair and thickens the hair strand making your hair thicker over all.

Henna has such an attraction to the strand that it can loosen your curls because of the weight of the molecules on the strand itself.

Henna* is definitly a viable choice if you want thick hair. If you want to know how to mix your henna click here and here.

6. Indian Gooseberry

Indian Gooseberry is amazing for the scalp. Remember that thicker hair can only happen with healthy scalp so you will find that many recommendations for thick hair will tend to focus on the scalp.

Gooseberry has anti-inflammatory, anti bacterial as well as exfoliating properties that are great for a healthy scalp. In order to use Indian Gooseberry effectively you should mix one tablespoon of the gooseberry with your coconut oil* and heat the mix until it is boiling.

Strain the oil and wait for it to cool down until it is warm. Massage the mix into your hair cover with a plastic cap for the night and then wash your hair as you would the next day.

You can also make a paste with Gooseberry powder and a bit of warm water. Apply the paste to your hair, allow it to sit for a couple hours or over night then wash as normal.

I am a firm believer in all natural products for thicker longer hair because they are fool proof! While there many commercial products out there that can help with your goals there is nothing like the gems that mother nature provides.

Happy thicker hair ladies!
