4 Must-Try Tea Rinses

No one wants to spend the summer with dull, dry, unhealthy hair. It is very likely that you have plans to hit up beaches, swimming pools, amusement parks, maybe do some light traveling and of course you want to look good while doing it.

However, all of this will add wear and tear to your hair, but there is a remedy you can use to keep your strands revived throughout the summer, allowing you to wear your locks proudly.

If you have yet to hear of tea rinses, you will find that there are many different types to choose from. In fact, your favorite tea may be on this list. So let’s get into the four different types of tea rinses you can use and their benefits.

1. Blackberry Leaf Rinse

Blackberry Leaf rinse

Those who are worried about deepening their hair color or color enhancement will like the effects that blackberry leaf tea provides. It darkens dark hair and highlights lighter shades of hair.

It also helps to get rid of dandruff, promote shine and cleanse your hair. It can be used on all hair types with no problem. You can either purchase fresh or dried blackberry leaves for this rinse. Just make sure that the herbal tea that you buy is 100% blackberry leaves.

Here’s the recipe:

1 cup of fresh blackberry leaves or 3 tea bags

4 cups water

4-6 fresh blackberries (as an added bonus)

Now, you will need to fill a saucepan with the water, place the leaves inside with the fresh berries, bring it to a boil using medium heat and then allow it to simmer for about 15 minutes.

Next, remove the pan from the heat and let it cool down for about 20 minutes. You’ll need to use a strainer to separate the liquid from the solids. It’s best to place the tea inside of a jar or bowl, so that it’s easy to pour onto your hair. Use it after you shampoo as a final rinse.

2. Rosemary And Thyme Rinse

Rosemary and Thyme Rinse

You must have heard of all the greatness rosemary holds for our hair — it’s being used in hair butters*, leave-in conditioners and even shampoos.

Now, you can give your hair reinforcement with this rosemary* and thyme tea rinse. These two herbs have been used for hundreds of years as a way to darken hair and make it silky soft. It’s a natural antiseptic, which means it’ll keep your hair and scalp nice and clean, and overall healthy.

You should begin seeing results within the first couple of rinses, so be patient. If you’re looking for the darkening effects, you’ll see that it’ll start to do so naturally and subtly.

So here is what you’re going to need:

2 tb fresh rosemary* leaves or 1 tb of dried rosemary leaves

2 tb fresh thyme or 1 tb of dried thyme leaves

4 cups of boiling water

Boil the four cups of water, then place the herbs inside of a bowl and pour the water into it. Allow it to set there until it becomes cool, then strain it. Again, use this after shampooing as a final rinse (you do not need to rinse the tea out of your hair).

3. Ginger Root And Moringa Rinse

Ginger Root and Moringa rinse

If you’re dealing with hair loss or thinning, ginger root is an excellent ingredient to use as a treatment. It helps to strengthen your hair, making it ideal for brittle hair.

It promotes circulation to your scalp, which allows your hair follicles to receive much-needed vitamins* and nutrients to become stronger and grow longer.

Moringa* is another powerful herb that promotes healthy long hair. It provides lots of nutrients and oxygen so that your hair can maintain shine, thickness and strength. It’s great for preventing hair loss as well.

Here’s what you will need:

2 tb ground ginger or chop up about 3 inches of fresh ginger root

2 tb moringa* leaf powder

4 cups of water

As with the blackberry leaf rinse, you want to place your herbs inside of a saucepan with water and bring to a boil on medium heat, then allow it to simmer for about 15-20 minutes.

You should notice a strong gingery aroma when it’s done. Strain the contents and use as a final rinse after shampooing.

4. Hibiscus Tea Rinse
