The 4 Controversial Inexpensive Products That Some People Still Fall Back On

greaseSome women believe that going natural is expensive. I can attest to the fact that it can get expensive if you use high end products and if I am to be honest many of the high end products do not work on our hair; they are just jars full of crap.

I can instantly name about 4-6 expensive brands that actually do miracles on natural and relaxed hair but they just might not be in our budget.

With that said there are some women who have learned to rely on what we can consider ‘controversial’ products to take care of their hair. We say they are controversial because they have less than perfect ingredients, they probably would not be personally recommended and they never come up on the ‘products to buy lists’.

1. Sulfur* 8 (or Sulfur* Lite)

You’ve heard of this I am sure. Yes…remember that medicated grease in the yellow container? We usually slap this on the scalp to rid the scalp of dandruff.

It works, no lie, but it stinks…right? Wrong. Not anymore. They have modified their products now and it is quite impressive actually. They have transformed their product into clean, fresh smelling sprays which gives the same healing effect the grease would give.

2. Suave Professionals Naturals Conditioner

This cheap brand is actually pretty good. It has a thick consistency and personally I don’t mind this conditioner at all. It makes the hair really soft. The Suave Professionals Naturals Almond/Shea Butter* conditioner is the truth and ranges from one to two dollars.

3. Africa’s Best

The Africa’s Best moisturizing lotion provides the hair with just the right amount of moisture. Now, the downside of this product is it has parabens, but if you’re not one to worry so much about ingredienst then you might be able to give this one a pass.

4. Blue Magic Coconut Oil*

You remember this brand as a child? It has been around for centuries. If you check a natural’s product cabinet right now you might find a jar.

Many of us are closet grease users but you aint heard that from me! *wink*
