Rosemary Is Great For Hair Growth Here Are 5 Ways To Use It!

RosemaryWhether you are one who is struggling with hair loss or just wanting to continually grow your tresses there are always natural approaches. One is through use of the herb, Rosemary.

Rosemary is a pretty common herb and is easily accessible. It is a fragrant evergreen and has needle-like leaves with white, pink, purple, or blue flowers. So how is it good for our hair?

I’m glad you asked! The herb is often associated with multiple benefits such as stimulating and improving circulation of the scalp for hair growth, cleansing the hair through its anti-bacterial properties, increasing shine and relieving an irritated scalp.

Rosemary can be found in two forms, plant or oil. You can find the herb at just about any grocery store. Although dried is most common, you can easily purchase a plant. In doing so first dry the leaves properly. Rinse with cool water, dry thoroughly by wrapping in a paper towel, and allow to air dry in a brown paper bag. The drying process can take about 2-3 weeks and in some cases more depending on the size.

If you would like to use the essential oil instead, you can find it at retailers such as Whole Foods, GNC or online. In purchasing the Rosemary* essential oil, make sure it’s a 100% pure natural oil by checking the label. Although pure oils* tend to be a bit more pricier, non-pure oils* can contain additives that actually take away from the benefits the oil is supposed to serve.

Here are 5 simple ways to incorporate it in to your hair care regimen and reap the benefits of hair growth!

1. Hot Oil Treatments with Rosemary Essential Oil

Hot oil treatments are already great for adding shine and luster to your hair but if you put a few drops of Rosemary oil* in the mix you can boost hair growth as well.

Just take about 3 Tablespoons of olive oil* and 5 drops of the Rosemary essential oil and mix in a bowl or container. Warm setting the container in hot water for a few minutes.

Finally, apply it to your hair and scalp, cover and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Repeat this hot oil treatment once or twice a week for optimal results.

2. Scalp Massage with Rosemary Essential Oil

Scalp massages with any oil in general play an excellent role in hair growth. By doing a massage, the hair follicles are stimulated and rejuvenated resulting in an increase of blood circulation thus hair growth.

Rosemary* contains substances that boosts circulation, so double the effects by adding a few drops of the Rosemary essential oil to coconut oil*, for example.

It is recommended to do this oil application and scalp massage the night before your wash day. It serves as an excellent pre-poo.

Take about 4-5 Tablespoons of dried Rosemary leaves to water. Boil for about 30 minutes and allow to cool. Be sure not to do a second rinse as you do not want to lose the benefits of the added Rosemary to your hair.
