Hey everyone. So today we are talking about tick, tock, hairstyle variations, and because this is still such a popular haircut, a lot of people want to have this flip. They want to understand how to get this. Look i'm going to break down two different variations of this haircut because believe it or not, they may look similar right here, but they're actually really really different. Okay. So, let's start with this mannequin first, which is the kind of more traditional type of tick, tocker hairstyle, and when i keep saying tick-tock or hairstyle, it's simply because tick-tock is what made this hairstyle popular on all of the quote-unquote tick-tockers right, we're tick, tick, tockers, people Who are social media influencers who were wearing this hairstyle, which basically at first i said, look like a dead animal on the head, but now it's become the most trending haircut. There is, and still everybody seems to want to have this see the flip up in the front here, the shape the texture it works best on straight hair, whether it's fine, hair or thick hair straight hair works best on or wavy hair right, wavy, curly hair. You take this down really short and through here and leave this longer, but the whole point is this: is the longest point in through here? This is all layered down through here, but you can see how long this is right. This travels all the way down to here. This is all heavily layered in through this area down here, as you can see, okay, if i were to hold the hair upside down all this hair, that's hanging down and like this that's falling, you can see that the very very front which is this is all Layered all right, this is a great demonstration to kind of show you all what this looks like. So there's a lot of hair going on there. But then, when you flip the hair down, you see the hair just kind of falls, but this is all feathered or layered and you need to go to somebody who knows how to do this haircut right. It'S not about getting a zero fade. You know. Actually, sometimes it's not even cut with clippers, it can be done by holding it with your hand, your fingers, you know, could be a half an inch an inch. The key is that you know this all flows into the front. Okay and the best products that i use or suggest for this are my tick tocker hairstyle kit, which so many of you purchase right. First, you start with tidal wave, which is the foundational spray you spray this in when it's wet you spray in. Maybe you know three four spritzes on damp hair. Okay, then you use the blow dryer that i have this comes. The kit comes with my uh two inch round brush, which i called the tick tocker. I had this brush specifically made because it actually is the perfect size brush to wrap the hair around to get that flip and the benefits this brush. It has the ceramic end: ionic technology, so you're, actually conditioning the hair and not damaging the hair while you're blow drying it. So a lot of technology went into this brush, so you blow dry it with the nozzle on the dryer which a nozzle comes with the dryer that i have and then you finish it off with locked hairspray. It'S called the tick tocker hairstyle kit. It'S on my website, shop.thesalonguy.com, and if you use code youtube20, you get 20 off there, you go, you lock it in with locked hairspray. Now this is the first variation. This is what you see the more traditional type of hairstyle, this one believe it or not. You may think, oh it's the same exact thing, but let's get a little bit closer here. Look! Look at the difference! All this hair is much shorter. If i hold this hair upside down, look at the difference i mean the hair is barely you know falling forward. It'S only coming to about right here, okay, so this is another variation and it's also heavily layered. A lot shorter in through this area also a lot layered in through here, but we still have this length. You have to have this length throughout the front which comes down to about right here. If you cut this too short, all right say you want your hair to hear, but when you pull the hair down it's about right here when you cut it, it'll shrink up this. If your hair is here, then you cut it too short. It'S actually going to spring up and be even shorter you're, going to end up having it like way up here. So you got to make sure you have enough hair length to about right here then cut it. It'S going to the layers are going to bring it up to here to the eyebrow. Don'T ever cut it at the exact length you want, because it's going to spring up it's going to be way too short. So the same thing with the layers, as you can see into here and i'll back up just a little bit as you can see, we have a much shorter variation of this. This is done with probably like a number four gar or number three guard right. You could even do a two in through here, but this is all much much shorter in through here to where it's probably about you know two inches in length and then again it's all about two inches and then the very very front goes from like two to Three inches right into here - it's all blended in and layered in a very uniform manner, but the key is leaving this longer. Okay, but making sure it's connected. It'S not just like it's short and then bam long. It'S got to be cut the right way and blended properly, and you can usually do this by over directing, which means you're cutting the hair and pulling it back a little in the front so that, as it falls as you can see, it becomes longer throughout the Front here you just hold it straight up this way and you cut it horizontally by pulling back as you can see, you pull back and then it all falls forward, so you're leaving it a little bit longer. Uh, it's a very unique look. You may not be able to get the flips, as you know, as much as you want, because if you flip it on shorter hair, it's really going to only be up to about right here. So in that situation, you're better off just kind of like using your hands to spike it up, but if you were to try to use you know the round brush, as you can see through here. What happens is you're gon na you're gon na use it, and it's gon na basically just kind of barely flip up right into this area, so you have to have more of that weight. This has to be much longer coming down all the way into here, so that it can. It has enough length to flip back if it's too short, it's not going to flip back. So the only way you can really style. This is by using maybe tighter weight, sea salt spray and then just blow drying it and making it a little bit messy or you can. You know, run your hands back and then do one of these to create a little bit of like a mini type of flip, like this all right to have it a little more, a little more messy. So it's not just straight hanging down, but if your hair isn't long enough in through this area, you're not going to get the flips like you would on you know this type, you see how long it is a difference. There'S the length right there as you can see, and then look how long this is right. So it's like double the length um, which is allowing the hair to flip. Okay, it's allowing the hair to flip up. You can have this short on the sides on this and then just work it into the top work into the front. So you know if you are looking for this type of hairstyle, i think it's important that i broke it down. So you understand - and i get you know sometimes there's one or two people who just keep asking the same thing over and over again just go on my youtube channel and type in the salon: guy tick, tock haircut. I'Ve got dozens upon dozens of videos about this hairstyle cutting it doing it like just research it and there's chances are you'll, find it or even type in the salon. Guy step by step, tik tok haircut you'll find a video of me doing it. Okay, so they're all over the place um but yeah. I just want to make this video to help. You understand those different variations and if your hair may be like this and you're wondering why it's not flipping it's, because it's not long enough in the front right. A lot of times people think like oh yeah, my hair is long enough. When really it's not right, you got ta, you got ta, keep growing it and you have to find someone who can help cut it to get that style. Okay, so don't forget use code. Youtube20 for 20 off and you can go to shop.thesalongai.com thanks for watching and i'll see you soon.
