Hi everyone welcome back to my channel. Today, i'm going to be showing you how to do a diy haircut, i'm going to be using myself as a model. I'M going to be cutting about this much off of my hair. I'M going to be showing you the tools. You need for today, first and foremost, you're going to need a flat iron, because i'm going to straighten my hair, a cutting comb, some shears texturizing shears some clips. If you might need them, i might not need them and just a brush to brush my hair and i'm going to put a cape on. So i don't make a mess of myself. Okay, so it turns out we're not using a cake because it's going to ruin my mic so, first and foremost, i am going to straighten my hair to make sure it is pin, pin straight my hair is dirty. So what i'm going to do is i'm going to flat iron, my hair first and then after the haircut is all said and done. I will then shampoo it and style it and show you the finished product and it's actually looking good okay. So i have went ahead and straight ironed, my hair, so i'm going to go ahead and just jump right into it. First and foremost, what you're going to do is you're going to go by where you part your hair. I don't really part my hair at all. I kind of switch up the styles, so i'm going to go with the center part, so i'm just going to part my hair in the center. Have it be as straight as possible, then i'm going to section the back of my head just like this and i'm going to take a hair clip i'm gon na grab a section about. I don't know two inches up and pin this right up and do the same thing on the other side, and this is going to be my length, so i'm going to cut about this much off, so i'm going to grab a section pull it. I'M not really going to have a lot of tension, so tension means i'm not going to take the hair and pull it like really taut. You don't want to do that. You want to just have it kind of naturally fall so you're, just holding it and just letting it naturally fall just going to grab a piece grab your shears and just cut okay. We got our first section and we're just gon na do the same thing on the other side, making sure that you're, even on both sides, you're not cutting more on one versus the other you're gon na look in the mirror and double check it. I feel like this side's a little bit longer, so i'm just going to go through and cut a tiny bit more biggest problem that i see people do. Is they grab too big of a section? So i have a lot of hair, so you don't want to go too high up on the heads. You can see, i'm only about two inches. If you have even more hair than i do, you can take even smaller sections. If you have finer hair than me, then you can take bigger sections and you're just going to continue up so again, i'm just grabbing and doing the same thing until i run out of hair to cut for the length so you're going to use the piece of Hair that you already cut as your guide, so you should be able to see it gon na not you're gon na want a mirror in front of you, so you can look in the mirror, so i can see right where it is go through and cut. Okay also keep in mind when i am grabbing my section, i'm looking in the mirror. First and then i can look down because once you look down you're changing the elevation of your hair, so you don't want to look down and try and brush it. You want to look in the mirror and then you just and continue up so now, i'm going to start grabbing sections around the front of my head, i'm going to show you the back of my head. This is what it looks like i'm starting to cut less, because now i'm hitting the layers, so it's not much cutting off now. Okay, as i'm doing this, i keep looking in the mirror to make sure it looks even good. So i only have one mirror that i'm looking into, if you have one of those bathrooms that has like the mirrors that, like fold out it's going to be even better, you could be able to see like the side, views and everything right now, one dimensional. So i'm now going to kind of slightly turn my head make sure i got it all same thing: okay, voila! So we got the length so now we're going to move on to the layers. This is where it gets a little tricky. Okay. So i'm going to brush it down and then i'm going to create my first section. So i'm going to go from the top of the head to right behind the ear not too far back but like literally almost like in the center of your ear. Actually so not too far back and if you want to better secure it, you can take the clip and you can just clip it back and i'm going to do the same thing with the other side. The same point make sure your equal points bring it down. Section it right there i'm going to take this clip it back we're only working with these front pieces, so you can see right here. This is my angle. I have a lot of breakage, so i actually would have prefer if this would grow in. So i'm not really going to cut much off of this at all. So what i'm going to do is connect see how i have my shortest bang right here. I'M going to connect this line with that line, so i'm just going to cut just this corner, or just this angle i should say, but down through here, i'm just going to leave it alone, so we're just going to brush this out. This is why it's so important to have your hair be straight, so you can see all of this and i'm going to use the mirror. As, like my viewing point, i'm not going to look down. I'M really just going to take this at an angle, so you hold the shears at an angle and you just gently open and close them and just walk them down. The movement is very tiny and just walk them down just to take this gently, just walk it down. So it's just a very small amount that i am cutting. You see the difference now it all connects through there. If i want to just trim these just a tiny bit just to get the dead ends, i will but i'm not going to add anymore, so i'm going to do the exact same thing on the other side, i'm happy with that amount because i am right-handed. I could you know kind of go like this and walk it down um. I am a hair stylist, so i could actually do that if you are not a hair stylist, this angle of walking the hair down might be difficult, so we're just going to grab it and we're just going to point cut so point cut is when you take The scissors and you literally just cut into the hair, as opposed to it blunt being a straight line like i did on the bottom. The bottom was a blunt line. This is going to be a point cut. This is going to soften that line, and it's not. It'S going to if you mess up it's going to hide any kind of blender blenders, you might do okay, so i'm just gon na bring these forward, make sure everything looks pretty. Even you still need a tiny bit right there. Little bits at a time is going to go a long way. Okay, so i'm good with the front. I'M happy with that. So i'm gon na take these clips out and i am now going to work on the layers. Okay, so for the layers you're going to want to stop start in the back of the head. So, first and foremost, you're going to create a guide so you're going to take a very thin section of hair about an inch worth in the mohawk area and pick this up, and this is going to be your guide. I'M going to pick this up, and that is what i'm going to decide. How short i want my layers to be so i'm only going to cut like an inch off of my layers, so i'm going to pick this up grab an inch and point cut. Point cut, softens lines hides mess-ups, a little better, not all of them, but hides it a little better. Okay, so that is now my guide. So i'm going to grab a pie section in the back of my head and a pie. Section means exactly what it sounds like: it's like the shape: it's like a triangle, so the top of my head going down to the nape. So if i can turn around so can you see this section? It'S like thinner up top and then it gets a little wider as a bottom. That'S going to be a pie section, so i'm going to work from here all the way over and then from here all the way over taking these same pie sections. So we are now going to pick this up, so we're now going to pick up that pi section, along with the mohawk guide that you already created. So you can see that this is the guide. It'S right here. It'S falling into the pie. So it's the top of it. It'S like the point. That'S going to be your guide, so this is the piece that i cut right here and i'm just going to follow that. So i'm just cutting this point, cutting as i go. This is to soften lines. If your hair is really fine, you might not need to do that, but i do have a lot of hair. So it's going to save me some time later on down the line. So now that i've cut that section, i'm going to go on and grab another piece of that pie, i'm going to grab this this section and i'm going to move my position of where i'm cutting so before. I was cutting that layer right here in the center. Now, because i'm off to the side, i'm going to be holding it a little bit off to the side notice how a bunch of hair is falling out. That'S! Okay! That'S your perimeter, we're focusing on the layers, so you can see where my guide is. Do you see that so i'm just going to go ahead and follow that continue on notice how the angle of my hair is moving according to what i'm holding so before it started here, and then it moved to here and now it's coming out this way, i Can see it if you can't see your guide, you need to take smaller sections, i'm going to keep going, because i have a lot of angles around my face that have already been cut and some breakage around my face. There shouldn't be a lot here to cut yeah. That'S what i thought. It'S just a tiny tiny bit. I have nothing to cut i've already angled everything around the base framing of my face and again there was a lot of breakage in this area. So there's nothing to cut, so this whole side is done so to move on to this side, so we're doing the exact same thing just on the other side. So again, if you turn around the back of my head first, it was here. Then we moved on to here then moved on to here, and i moved on to here, so you notice how we're pivoting as we're going we're always focusing on the guide that we created in the mohawk area. So your pivot should start where that is so. We'Re going to grab the next section and do the same thing on the other side, so again guys what we just did on the right side, you're going to repeat those exact same steps on the left side: we're just speeding this part up to save time. So we can move on to the next step. Okay, so now we're going to get rid of these lines up through here. So you can see that if i pick up this section, you see how nice and smooth that lays and there's no choppiness at all. It shows that all of the bulkiness and all of the blunt lines are being held within this area, so we can pretty much leave all of this alone. None of that needs to be texturized. It'S all right in here. So pick up the section pay attention to see. Okay, everything below that section is good. Even right here is good. We are going to grab ourselves some texturizing shears and we are going to hold these at an angle. You never want to cut texturizing shears like this. Ever because you will leave lines in your hair, if you do that, you always want to cut it at an angle, so we're holding it at an angle and we're going to take these and we're going to do very small movements and walk them out. So you're going to take this and then just slowly walk them out, you're, not going to do that: okay, very small movements and i'm using the mirror for me to look at very small - and this is just the ends of my hair. This is just to get rid of some of those lines, so you can already see what a difference that makes now we're going to move on to this section, so you can like literally pick it up and see what needs to be texturized pick this up again. Small sections very slowly, lock it out, you can see now how nicely that blends and how it really softens that line up. That'S the difference. This has been texturized and this has not been. You can see how choppy all this is. So if you do not have texturizing shears and you only have regular shears, i will show you how to do that. So we're going to do the exact same thing on this side, except we're going to take this and we're going to point cut. So i'm going to grab this section of hair and i'm going to bend my fingers to feather it out. So this is my fingers straight. This is me bending them we're going to bend it and go through and just point and just cut right into that you're going to keep doing that until you get rid of your lines. Texturizing shears is a lot faster, but this is the same technique. All this is doing is getting rid of the bluntness and softening your layers, so they blend a lot more, so you can see how much better this blends and how i've gotten rid of all the choppiness. You know what for good measures, i'm just going to texturize this top section of hair, so i literally just grabbed it like this. I'M going to hold it straight up, bring this forward bend my fingers to spread it out and point cut, and that's it. That'S all! Okay, that's it i styled my hair, i washed it. I blew, it dry, add some curls to it. This is the finished result. Let me know what you guys think if you have any questions, obviously leave them below and i will answer all of them.
