Welcome back to my channel guys, i'm sylvia today we're going to be looking at wig caps. I get a lot of questions about wig caps, what's the best kind of wig cap to use for your wigs. So today we are going to be looking at four different wig caps, so if you've ever wondered what these wig caps do and how they use the pros and cons then keep watching the first wig cap that we're going to be looking at today is called well Actually, it's got three names: it's called a ventilated, wig cap, it's also known as an open, wefted wig cap, and it's also known as a capless wig cap and the name. Capitalist comes from the fact that once the wig is made and the plastic is taken off, these vertical panels disappear into the wig, and so it almost appears as if to say, there's no cap, and then you have ventilation in between these panels. So it's very breathable. That'S one thing: i love about this wig cap: it's also a classic wig cap, so these are the wig caps that were used for wig making years and years ago. So if you want that professional look, then this is definitely the wig cap for you. I also like them, because they're very, very quick to to make a wig on. I find that they're quicker to use than any other wig cap. So that's another pro um, i would say it's also a very lightweight. So if you wash your wig, this is going to dry in no time because there's hardly any fabric under there in comparison to something like the dome cap or the knitted wig cap. The only con that i would say about this wig cap is that i find it very challenging to customize when i'm making a wig see, there's not a lot of fabric, as you can see to mess around with. So it's really really laborious to kind of pull. These panels down and to customize it so that's the only uh one of the main um cons and disadvantages. I would say um of this uh wig cap. Another thing, i would say, is um when you're making a frontal on a wig cap such as this. You know the frontal needs something to anchor onto so when you place your frontal onto it like this, there's not really any fabric on here for you to sew your frontal down on and when i used to use this wig cap to make wigs uh frontal wings. I used to actually attach a piece of netted fabric on the sides so that i would have something to sew down onto so that's one of the disadvantages of using that when you use it for a closure wig. As you can see, the closure would perfectly sit on top of the wig, be it a 5x5. This little space right here, i think, is probably just big enough for a 5x5. The next cap, we're going to be looking at is everyone's favorite wig cap. This is the dome cap, it's probably one of the most easy wig caps to use and that's because it's spandex, you can hardly make a mistake on this because it stretches and stretches - and you know even look at this - i mean it looks small, but it can Stretch to fit quite a lot of sizes in saying that it is still very important to use measurements, but i just like the fact that it has so much spandex. Okay, advantages of this wig cap is that it allows your wig to lie really really flush. So if you're, making a frontal wig it gives you that nice flush fit, it fits really snug, which is what you want for a frontal wig. You want that uh that frontal to lay you don't want it to be all lifting up. So that's what i like about it. I like that it's readily available in the shops. You can pick one up from your beauty supply store for 2.99. You can get them online on amazon delivered the next day for really really cheap. So i like the fact that it's available for you as well. The only disadvantage i would say with this wig cap - is that it is um. I mean the mesh ones are quite light, but, as you can see, um it's it's a lot of fabric. So if you use it for something like a closure wig, you know you have more chance of feeling hot underneath your wig because of all of this, if you're making a frontal wing on it. Obviously, once you cut out the under part of the wig, you have this amount of cap on it. So it's not too bad, but it's still a little bit warmer than something like the capitalist wing cap or the the hybrid wig cap. But the good thing about it is that you can use it for any kind of wig. You can use it for closure wig, you can use it for frontal wig. I personally just like to use it for frontal wigs. I like to use the other caps for my closure wigs. So that's the dome cap um in a nutshell so, like i said, especially if you want to get into wig making. These are the caps that i currently use to teach in my wig classes. I use a dough cap and we use a zigzag stitch on these, so they're very, very durable. They last really really long. So definitely if you want to get into wig making yeah definitely start on something like this go to your beauty. Supply store grab. One of these and just start practicing, the next wig cap we will be looking at, is something i call the hybrid wig cap. I call it a hybrid wig cap because it's a mesh of the capless wig cap and the netted wig cap. It has some a netted panel on the side and then it has the capless wig cap elements at the back now. This wig cap is actually uh one of my favorites, it's one of my favorites, because it has all the advantages of the kappas wig cap, which is, is breathable. It'S a light. It'S very professional. Looking it's got that classic. Look to it, but another great thing that i love about it is that when you're making your frontal wig, you have that fabric right there to anchor it down. So if i just show you if i position my frontal wig right here, i'm able to sew my frontal on without any problem whatsoever. I won't have any issues of my frontal unraveling if i sew it down on here. So that's one of the great reasons why i like it. Another thing i love love love about this wig cap - is that it's customizable now in comparison to the kappas wig cap, which doesn't have a lot of fabric to mess with this one has fabric hair, so you're, able to pinch the fabric, hair and reduce the wig Cap based on your clients, measurements you're, also able to make your closure wig easily on here. Just position: your closure there and again it can take up to probably a five five five or six by six closure. There'S not really any um disadvantages of this cap. I can't find eddie, i mean it has the straps here as well. It has um the nape part here to help you, so it just helps the wig fit better. It has the ear flaps here as well, which have a thin very thin metal embedded in there, and it also helps to keep the cap nice and secure on your head when you just give it a little bend on the temples. So i love this wig cap. I mean it does the same thing. The other one does like. I said in that the plastic comes off, it's quicker to take off the plastic as well, which is what i love about it. So you don't spend too much time if you're inexperienced in removing the plastic okay. So this cap, i just like to call the netted wig cap. This is again a traditional wig cap, which has netting all over the netting usually has some kind of elastic inside of it, so it allows stretch inside of the wig cap. It comes with adjustable straps right here. It also comes with the a flap with the metal in the ear flap to allow you to get a more snug fit. It has the the piece at the back of the nape to also allow you to pull down your wig, to give you a better fit. As well um, the great thing about this wig cap is, you can make any wig on it. You can place your your closure on here. The good thing about this actually is that you can probably go as wide as a seven by seven closure on here, because it has fabric all around here. So, even if your closure came up to here, you could probably still get that on there. You could put your frontal on there easily with no problem whatsoever. So down your frontal. You can adjust this cap easily there's fabric everywhere, so you can adjust this cap. However, you want to do it from whatever angle you want to do it from you can adjust it from here. You can adjust it from hair. You could cut through hair and make the whole circumference of the wig cap smaller. If that's what you desire. So this cap, i say, does a whole lot of stuff. The only thing is, as you can imagine again with all of this fabric comes warm comes heat now. I know that doesn't really matter too much, because we want to wear our wigs anyway. We don't really care about all of that, but i just want to point that out to you so that when you're talking to your clients about the kind of wig cap to use you're able to present to them the pros and cons, so they can make an Informed decision, if you offer that kind of customized service, another good thing about this wig cap is they're available in your local beauty supply store. It may not be exactly like this, but i do know for a fact that they sell like the fully knitted wig caps with the adjustable straps and all that inside the wig wig stores, um beauty, supply stores, probably for about three to five dollars. So this is something that you can easily get your hands on if you wanted to okay, so you know i like to throw in a bonus. This is a wig cap that i recently purchased and i did a poll on my instagram instagram fabulous wigs, and i asked you guys if you had used this wig before this recap before and a lot of you actually hadn't tried it. I think it was 87 of you said that you hadn't actually tried this wig cap, so this is exactly like the hybrid wig cap. The only thing is, it doesn't have the flaps, the straps and the nape. So let me just place it on here for you to get an idea what it looks like and the reason why i think it would actually be a good idea to use, so it has all the qualities of the hybrid cap, so you can adjust it. It'S light: it's got the plastic at the back, which is removable. You can place your closure on there. You can place a frontal on there, but i like the fact that it doesn't have the air flaps. You know, because you know when you make your your frontal wig, you end up cutting out those flaps anyway, so you have the qualities of a don't cap in that it doesn't have the ear flaps and everything. But you have the advantages of the calculus wig cap at the back. Thank you guys. That'S all the weight caps that i have to show you. I hope you found this video useful.
