How To Make A Wig Cap Smaller Without Cutting The Cap.

It's easier than you think to make your wig cap smaller. There is no need to cut wefts or lose hair. A needle and thread is all you need and a little patience lol. I did 2 of my wigs and by time I got to the 2nd one I was amazed how much better my knots got. I kind of surprised myself.

Hey everyone: it's rachel with rachel's wig reform. Today, i'm going to show you how i'm making this wig cap smaller. For me, this is a human hair wig that i purchased from in vogue, medical, wigs and beyond. This wig was not a custom cap. For me, i purchased this off from her budget line. When i received it, i absolutely love this wig. However, the cap was a little bulky for me back in here, and the hairline sat a little too low for me now. I do not want to cut into these wafts or do anything crazy to this wig. I just want to take the bulk out. The very first thing that i did was: i started with some stitching down in here at the nape area. Now, if you're looking for martha stewart stitching, you came to the wrong place, but that is why i want to do this video, because it shows that you don't have to be like a domestic goddess to be able to figure this stuff out. What i did, then is: i took the two wefts i sewed them together and just closed that gap, and now this sits right at my hairline, exactly how i want it to i put the wig back on and i noticed there was a little bit more bulk Up in here, i kind of held my finger on it, took the wig off and then marked it with this pin. What i did, then, is i put onto this canvas block. I have it really secured down. I have all these pins across the top. I do not put any pins up here in my lace area and you can see where i already started to sew these wefts together. But now i'm going to show you exactly how i do that with with my needle and thread what i will do, then, when i am done with this initial one is, i will come across here and i will bring it in here and i will also take It in over here, so it's it's taken in evenly all the way around. Okay, let me go ahead and show you how i do this with my needle and thread, so the type of needle that i use is this hook needle you need this so that it can loop up and through trying to do this with the traditional needle would Be very difficult. What i do then is this is going to be my first initial one because i ran out of i ran out of thread. I'M going gon na, take it through and i'm gon na get the first get it through. Now. From this point on what i'm gon na do is after i get it through and listen, i'm still trying to figure out these needles myself. So what i do is i loop it through and then i take the excess as soon as i get even the excess thread and i'm going to take the needle and loop it through there and then bring it closed and what that does is it creates a A knot there all right, and so i'm going to continue through this again and i'm going to just keep doing this until i get all the way around or to the end here and then i will continue to go in and do it on both sides. Now, if you're wondering, does this mess up the way the hair um lays on the other side? No, it doesn't not at all, and this is making this wig more comfortable for me and not as bulky. So it's a really easy fix. You do not have to be martha stewart to do this. If i can do it, you can do it and just always do like um. You know one waft closure at a time and put the wig back on to make sure that it you're not taking too much in okay. So i hope that helps - and you could also do this with a traditional wefted cap too. All right. Everyone we'll talk with you soon:

Evangeline Kessler: Excellent information! I’m gathering my courage to make adjustments to some of my wigs which have too much room at the back and top of the crown. I’ve only just started my wig journey having purchased my first wig in late November 2021, so I’m glad this current exercise doesn’t involve anything scary like cutting!

Susan Schwartz: Thank you Rachel. I can only wear a petite wig and almost all are average size. I've seen many demonstrations on how to cut the wefting and that was not something I was willing to try. This I might be, and it would open up a whole new world of wigs for me

Liz Millner: As usual, thank you Rachel! You are the BEST!

Marian Russom: thanks for the info!!! needed it!!!

Wanda Peppers: Thank you for this video!

Janice Davidson: Thank you
