But this wig looks like it has had it., And that is because it has had it. ( laughs ). So what I'm going to do here is I'm gon na show you how I'm gon na fix it. ( siren, ), ( hip hop music, ), Hey! It'S Marquetta Breslin and I'm back with another video.. So in this video I'm going to be showing you how to fix an over-plucked wig. You'd, be surprised how many DMs I get from people saying ``. Can you fix wig, I plucked it too much.'' Or just a wig that has hair missing out of it., So the wig that I have here is my handy dandy, Afro wig., It's my favorite wig.. You probably seen me wear it in about 80 different videos., But this wig looks like it has had it, and that is because it has had it. (, laughs ). So what I'm going to do here is I'm gon na show you how I'm gon na fix it.. So I didn't pluck this wig, I don't pluck., That's not my thing.. I do have pieces though.. I have bald spots., So it looks kinda the same as if you over pluck. Same difference. This is how you can fix it.. So the first thing I'm gon na do is I'm gon na clip away the hair in the spots to expose the spot. That has no hair in it. All right., Just gon na move all of that hair out of the way so that I can go in and start repairing. Now. What you're going to find is that you may not have the exact type of hair that you use with that wig. And, if that's the case, then you're gon na have to find something that matches closely.. Now, if you are working with a wig that has wefts sewn into the back of it, you can take a little bit like maybe a little corner or something of the weft in the back of the wig and fix it.. You are going to be removing some of the density if you remove a weft from the back, but that's just another alternative., That's not what I'm going to do here.. What I'm gon na do here is I'm working with. Obviously, this hair is much longer than the hair, that's on my Afro wig., But it's actually probably about 18 inches., But I'm not going to. Obviously I'm going to cut it and it's gon na have to be colored to match.. So what I've done here is I've gotten my section of hair that I'm going to be using and I'm going to be using the ventilating needle. Now to maintain the density of this piece. If you look very closely, it looks like in this closure piece: they have ventilated one hair and they've done some sort of a double-split knot.. Now I don't like that. So what I go back in and fix is gon na look different., But it's okay'cause. It'S not in the front of the wig or anything like that, so it's really not gon na matter.. So I have about a two-inch turnover.. That'S where I've folded, the hair over.. I have a size three ventilating needle. And I'm just gon na go in and fill in those empty spots by ventilating one to three hairs in each hole., Because I need to maintain the same density.. So one of the things that people don't realize about fixing AKA repairing lace, wigs is that it is super tedious because you have to try to move the hair out of the way and then you have to go into those spots and ventilate.. If you wan na know how to ventilate, I have a video called How to Ventilate A Lace Wig, where I teach you how to ventilate.. There is so many different facets to ventilating., Knowing the skill is one thing, but understanding how to place the hair, the directions that you need to be pulling it in, and all of that is another ballgame., So just be mindful of that.. I'M just gon na go in here and I'm gon na continue ventilating and pulling that hair through. Remember I'm using one to three hairs to maintain the density. Now one of the things that they did with this closure piece. Is they skipped holes.? I always tell my students: nobody's hairs, grows in perfect patterns like that.. Your hair grows randomly. So I never understood why, when making wigs these manufacturers ventilate the hair in lines. Like a line like this or a line like this., It doesn't make any sense to me.. So one thing you want to be mindful of as you go through and fill in your empty areas is, you got ta constantly readjust the hair to keep it out of the way.. So all of this is what I've ventilated and you have to reposition it.. This is a tedious and messy process. Trust me when I say.. Let me just have this over here. And I'm just gon na keep filling this area. In. Working with this kinky curly hair can also be a bit of a challenge, especially if you're brand new to wig making.. So one of the things that you can do - and I think I've addressed this on a video before - but one of the things that you can do - is straighten the hair prior to using it., So just run a flat iron through it once just to get the Kinks out and then you can ventilate it. And that curl pattern should revert right back to normal.. The important thing here is just trying to maintain that density.. Let me just pick up some more hair. And I'm gon na continue filling this area in.. When I come back I'll show you the finished product. All right, so I've skipped over. I finished filling in that big hole and I skipped over to this smaller one over here., Just to add a little bit more hair in so that you can really see what that end result looks like. Now. Obviously I have a lot more to fill in in this area over here and all of that stuff. All right. So I filled in the big hole and I just want to show you what it looks like.. You can't even tell that there was ever a hole. There. Now, obviously, what I have to do is go in and fill in these areas and any other area that needs to be repaired., And once I do that, then I'm gon na go through I'm gon na cut and color this hair and then that's it I'll. Be done. So typically ventilators charge anywhere from $ 75 an hour to $ 150 an hour to do repairs.. You do not there's plenty of wig makers. Who will do repairs? You don't need to ship it off or send it off to like overseas or anything like that, like we used to have to do back in the day.. If you can't repair it yourself or you don't have the patience to repair. It yourself find you a good wig maker., But this is - and this took me probably maybe 30 to 45 minutes to cover up that hole.. I teach an extensive repair course inside my lace, wig training system. And I brought an instructor to teach how to do repairs inside the lace, wig training system as well., But this is not hard at all.. It'S very very easy, but it does take a lot of patience. And it can be timely depending on how big the bald spots are in the wig. All right guys. So that's how to fix an over plucked wig.. Thank you guys. So much for watching and I'll talk to you, soon.
