Healthy Way To Strip Red Dye (Or Other Semi-Permanent Dyes) From Your Hair - How To Strip Hair Dye

This is part 1 of 3 steps for changing my hair colour.

Part 2: http://bit.ly/2aywdNc

I found a new and seemingly healthier way to strip the hair dye from my hair before changing the colour. I filmed it to show you guys how well it works and the kind of results you can expect. I used this to strip red hair dye, but of course you can use this to remove hair dye of any colour as long as it's semi permanent dye or demi permanent hair dye.

Hey there chameleons it's Camille and today I am bringing you part 1 of my new hair dye series, which is going to be how to strip out this red dye. As you guys see, I have this kind of orange e to red hombre. You saw the tutorial for this. You know what it is and I just want to get rid of this color in the healthiest way possible for my curls. So I'm going to show you guys how I do that and then later next video, which will probably be tomorrow, I'm gon na deal with these roots and bleaching my hair, but for now let's get rid of this color. So I got this Selam color reverse kit, which I've never used before and never seen before. But I went into a hair shop and the lady recommended it for me and it was $ 15. So you know I decided to get it because I might as well try new things and she said it was supposed to be non damaging for your hair, which is the number one thing I look for so I picked it up and I gave it a try For today to see how well it worked, it comes in two bottles, there's a step one and a step two you just mix the two of them together and then it will activate, and then you can start using it in your hair to strip out the colors And I love how it's black and white just like me, so you don't want to ruin your nice clothes, so you want to put on a t-shirt that you can get bleach and die and all sorts of gunk all over and I can't find my normal one. So I'm just wearing this tie-dye one, because whatever now rapunzel rapunzel, let down your weed girl just kidding. This is my natural hair but yeah. Let'S just take a gander at that. So now assemble your supplies. You'Ll need a mixing bowl that is nonmetal a brush. The steps one and two that I just showed you and some latex gloves and, as you can tell I've used these before when I did sort of a bluish color but reduce reuse, recycle girl. Now I'm using this shot glass from Austin Texas to measure out my ratios for the steps wanted to. I use this because you want to do equal ratios for each of the steps and it's just a good way to measure out the exact same amount of each bottle. So I don't use too much or too little of each so for step one. I just squeeze it right above the word Austin. So I pour that into my mixing bowl and I do the same thing with step: two which is more of a white and the step. One is a clear: so then you mix the two together with your little mixing brush and then you form a nice solution that will be used for your hair. Now you want to put on your gloves and protect yo hands with these chemicals. Now don't smell the mixture because it smells horrible, it's most similar to a mixture. I'Ve used before to strip my hair a little bit weaker, I'd say, but it still smells so bad. You will want to cry if you get a good whiff of it. So I'm just going to start by doing some of my ends because they're kind of the darkness, but I'm just going to be running that mixture throughout my hair, just using my hands, no brush needed. This doesn't have to be super precise or anything because it does spread out easily and I'm doing this on unwashed hair, which is recommended and just kind of sectioning, my hair out into pieces, to make sure that each section that I do is completely saturated. And now I'm mixing a second batch, because that wasn't enough for all of my head same ratios about the same amount made, and this is going to do enough for the rest of my head not doing my roots, because it's not going to do anything to the Black, so you don't need to put it on and I wouldn't want to risk damaging my virgin hair anyways, because it's not gon na help with anything so just put it on the colored parts of your hair. Do it in sections and then burst out in the song when a good one comes on, because it's a long process and you need to be listening to music to keep you occupied back to business, though doing all the strands making sure they're all saturated, I'm flipping Them over my head, when I'm done with them just to organize everything - and you know not waste, because I hate wasting so just to get every little bit out of that little mixing bowl and put it in your hair. It will just make sure that you get more coverage. I guess just get everything nice and saturated, so you can get out all of the color. Now I'm putting my hair up in a bun once a is completely coated. This will just keep it out of your way and then I'm putting a nice plastic bag on my head. Because do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again, because that's how I felt this day also it helps trap in the heat and activate the chemicals and have it stripped better. So there's that too you want a scent timer for 20 minutes. So then you know how long to keep it on and then when you're done, rinse it out wash it out and it will look stripped. The lady did tell me it would take more than one round just because it's not super damaging, it's not like bleach or anything. So this is what it looked like after doing one treatment of the stripping and it is lighter in this shot. I really felt like violet from The Incredibles, like with the hair over my eye. Anyways, it did strip a good amount. It looks lighter in person. Then there are sections of my hair that are less stripped out like the red parts and the ends, so I'm gon na definitely focus on those for the second round because, as you can see, if there is still more pigment in there, this is what my hair Looks like when it dried and it looks sort of fluffy and stuff, because I didn't put anything in it. I just wanted it to dry and that's why it looks kind of fluffy but yeah. That'S what it looks like the top part is definitely more faded than the bottom, so we are about to do around to to get this to where I need it to be, for when I put in the new color so now we're just gon na. Do the same exact process, if you guys get it done, and one round that not so good for you if you need to 3, however many you need just do it until it's light enough and we're just doing all the same stuff again same bun same bag, Same sass - and this is what it looks like after stripping the second time which is mad, like the top, is pretty much almost blond. So I was really happy with these results. The lady did say it wasn't damaging, but my hair felt a little bit drier. After so, I'm not exactly sure, that's a hundred percent true, but it definitely did a good job. So tomorrow I am going to show you guys how I bleach my hair, the healthy way and then we'll get on with the color. The next day hope you guys enjoyed this video and, if you did don't forget to subscribe to my channel, if all the products link down below, as well as my vlogging Cooking Channel, and I hope to see you chameleons in the next video kisses.

E-J Thompson: This is very helpful! I dyed my hair a really intense deep red a couple weeks ago but I have to dye it back to a natural colour for school

Ashlame: Just a heads up, color removers like this work well with reds but aren't as efficient with some other bright colors. It has to do with the size of the dye molecules and other science I'm not gonna pretend I know. But I've learned from experience. ✌️

SessKo: This is awesome I'm basically on the same journey as you, I have curly hair and went from dyed black to bleaching my hair to pink and kiiiiiilled it. No regrets, but I'm slowly recuperating my hair and using biotin to get some healthy growth going! I still haven't given up on colour though! I'm purple now and will be going back to pink in the fall, but I want to make sure I can do my roots and make that transition without continuing to fuck up my hair.

Soliria Bridges: psh, girl you are so lucky your red dye faded to pink instead of a brassy orange. :(

cassie stapp: I'm sure its different depending on the kind/brand of stripping agent you use, but is there a certain amount of time you usually have to wait before using the stripping product if you have to do it more than once like you did? I have red hair, but if I get hired at a place I recently interviewed at, I'll have to strip the color. Don't want to do it until I have the job, but I wont have much time to do so. thanks :)

Sarah Robla: I've been waiting for this tutorial from you for so long. Thank you! I'm in the process of removing violet and gray (that color wasn't intentional-yay color theory). I'm going back to sea green cause I'm a mermaid for life.

Alicia: Love this video. super cute and very helpful and super detailed. thank you

Maria Uva: how do you keep you're hair healthy? and how does you're hair grow so fast?!?!?

Mel: I have had my hair dyed blue for almost a year now and I have to dye my hair a natural color for a school class so this is very helpful!!

Sierra Lee: I used to dye my hair a lot, then I went a long time without dyeing it. I dyed it red to pink ombre a few days ago and I already miss being blonde :)))))))

Ashhoney: Just tried it and got the blue out of my hair and it worked! Had to do it twice! But adding lavender now!

Nicole Flippin: You have such beautiful curls thank you for showing this product!! Do you know if it will work to get red out on non-bleached hair? My bottoms are bleached but the rest of my hair is brown with red boxed dye I've put all over my bleached and brown hair

cd bunny: If anyone is scrolling through the comments I need some help! I dyed my hair red, just over top my natural virgin hair (no bleach, my natural color is light) I want to use a color remover to get the dye out. Will this turn my hair into an orange color or back to my natural color? Thanks!

s d: NO HATE BUT WHEN SHE PUT THE PLASTIC BAG ON HER HAIR AND SHE TURNED AROUND SHE LOOKED LIKE TYLER THE CREATOR AND IT MADE ME SO HAPPY

J G: omggg thank you, I dyed my hair red and it faded and I want to do green but wasn’t sure what to use to take out the red. Thank Youuuuu!!!

BassBoomBox: Do you still use this to get rid of a faded color? I just cut my hair and need to get the exxecc semi permanent color out but I do not want to bleach again, since it's finally healthy, lol.

Rise Above Deception Music: Cute, fun, useful. I dig this

Jenai Inella: OMG how do you dye and bleach ur hair so much without damage !! I've dyed my hair about 10 times in the last 2 years and it's all dry with so many split ends

Teia: I'm waiting for my hair to get a little healthier and then I'm going to buy Sally's color striper to hopefully remove the red in my hair. I'm just hoping if for whatever reason the Pravana green is still in there, that it'll remove it too. My hair can't take anymore bleach right now :x but I think the red cancelled out the green anyways. Depending how damaged my hair is after I maaaay just lightly bleach or bleach bath it.... Undecided on what color I want for sure though.

Etherea Magia: I just went back to see this video and noticed that you had THAT CURL DEFINITION with NO PRODUCTS and some people have the audacity to say that your hair was damaged... i cant tbh

Tymarah MUA: found your videos! and i had to watch all your hair videos AMAZING!!! i just started my channel have quite a few videos and i love the way you sound demo taking some advice xx

Sherri Dush: You need to leave it on for 40 min.. Try putting coconut oil on a day before you bleach it.. :)

trillslime: I really wanna get Balayage Ombre. I think it looks so bomb with curly hair lol

Ella Baggott: Hi! I was wondering! Do you use multiple mirrors when you do your hair or is it just because it's so long? I have kind of shorter hair and when I dye my hair fun colors I need someone to do the back of my hair sometimes because I cant see it. Also, you have given me so many tips on dying hair so thank you!❤️❤️

Etherea Magia: i love your hair tutorials, i'm so excited for the next color

Narconia: If the Salern Color Reverse is anything like color oops then yes its non damaging but it will dry the hair out, and possibly strip any treatments you did in the past.

Honesty White: Your hair grows so fast omg

Monica Ailyn: I’m watching this before I go red to make sure I can take it out in case I regret it

Romina Baza: does this work on dark hair ? like red dye on natural dark brown ?

Millie B: Absolutely wild that the first video i picked after searching up how to remove red hair dye without bleaching is posted by someone who has the same name as me it was meant to be

nomi: Its a Hispanic product they're leaving conditioner is amazing I so recommend you use I never heard someone pronounce it that way but it probably is salerm we pronounce it like salt-leam in Spanish but yeah I have use their product all my life so I definitely recommend leaving conditioner it's blue with that says the number 24

Jazz vlog/ YouTube channel: I love your hair dye video ❤️

RedHead Shake: do you have a stronger Option that removes the color Faster?.. my Curls are stronger than Yours and The red color I have on right now is really strong so I think If I use the one you use I might need more than 1 Package and might have to repeat it alot.. have any suggestions?

O'mya Rose: The faded out red was actually kind of cute in the beginning of the video

Sofia Flores: thanks for the reply on the last video your my inspiration when you did the froyo hair I did to it ended up great.

nikkicole54321: its so pretty faded with the pink ends: makes me think of ice cream. i'm curious to see how u bleach your roots in the back of your hair.

Steph Benitez: Healthy and stripped sounds weird in the same sentence lol

Diamond Hacks: I tried this on a faded manic panic after midnight blue (which faded into a green), and it worked. I washed it out and not even 2 minutes after I finished washing it, it turned back to a lighter green. I use one and only color fix, once again it worked but turned green after washing out. Can someone tell me why this keeps happening, and what I need to do to stop it? *I know blue is one of the hardest colors to get out, which is why I'm never dying it again*

I dyed it bright red a couple times n when I'd be ready to take it out in a week or 2 and red sticks really well to my hair. I used one n only and it took out 90% of the color in 1 use. I love it.
